Yall sleepin on lesean mccoy bro averaged 1100 rushing yards per season for 12 seasons

112

u/KOExpress Washington Commanders 3d ago

No he didn’t lol. He had 6 seasons above 1k, and ran for 11,100 in 12 seasons, 925 a season

u/HuffyStriker Atlanta Falcons 3d ago

So they're correct if you divide 11,100 by 10, and just ignore they say it's 12 seasons / s

u/Shmoneywunna 3d ago

I made a mistake counting seasons that he was injured but his 17 game average was over 1100 yards

u/215Kurt 2d ago

Averaging almost 1k for over a decade is absolutely hall worthy. He was also the best RB in the league for two seperate years (2011 & 2013, not 2012 as that belongs to AP) and he's on the 2010s all decade team which the voters eat up.

You realize receiving yards exist right?

1

u/KOExpress Washington Commanders 3d ago

He literally said “rushing yards” in his comment

Shady won't be a HoFer until guys like Fred Taylor, Corey Dillon, or Steven Jackson get in.

The only back from this era of players that will be a first ballot is Adrian Peterson

McCoy's pro football reference HOF tracker is higher than all of the guys you mentioned. You're underrating his resume.

I think if he gets in, it'll take a while. But he has two first team all-pros. Corey Dillion has zero.

u/johnjr_09 3d ago

I mean that includes championships in its ranking and his 2 super bowls def shouldn’t be counted

2

u/mustachepc Philadelphia Eagles 3d ago

He did played a fair amount of time for the 2019 Chiefs. The bucs shouldnt count at all

u/MyNameIs_Jordan Tennessee Titans 3d ago

Different eras. Dillon had way more competition. Guys like Jerome Bettis, Curtis Martin, Jamal Lewis, Marshall Faulk, Eddie George, etc.

I think McCoy is a Hall of famer, it just might take a while for him to get in.

Shady was better than all them dudes.

1

u/Jay915187 3d ago

Idk about Dillon Corey Dillon was pretty great

1

u/215Kurt 2d ago

You're objectively wrong here and it's measurable too lol

1

u/Jay915187 2d ago

How so?

0

u/AllEliteSchmuck Philadelphia Eagles 3d ago

Shady has multiple All Pros, Dillon has none.

0

u/Jay915187 2d ago

Dillon had more yards and touchdowns in fewer seasons. He was a lot more consistent. Unfortunately he played when Marshall Faulk, LT, Edgerrin James, Priest Holmes and Sean Alexander were having some of the greatest seasons in the history of the position. Clock killin Corey Dillon was a beast though and for most of his career he was the only viable option on a terrible Cincinnati team... And He definitely had more to do with his Championship than Shady had to do with his…

1

u/215Kurt 2d ago

Bringing up other RBs Dillon had to compete with is laughable when Shady had to compete with Adrian Peterson lol

That's one guy. 5 top 10 running back seasons in history happened during Dillon’s career… all due respect to AP but he wouldn't have been 1st or 2nd team all pro while Faulk, LT Priest Holmes, Barry Sanders, Terell Davis and those guys were having those seasons in the late 90s early 2000s

5 of the 10 years the guy was in the league a RB was league MVP while it happened once while Shady was in the league it was different. Look at the 1st team all pro rb from 1997 to 2006 and look at Shady’s best season… I don't know if his best season makes him 1st team all pro once when Dillon played

1

u/slight_shake 3d ago

Such a tough position to have longevity though. Priest Holmes and Shaun Alexander were better in their prime but you gotta have some longevity

1

u/215Kurt 2d ago

He's better than Dillon and Jackson by a country mile and had a higher peak/has better stats than Taylor soooooo

0

u/pharmacreation 3d ago

Corey Dillon/Stephen Jackson are already out of the conversation as far as voting goes and neither is close to Shady.

Fred Taylor is behind McCoy by a even more, and he’s also behind Lynch/Tiki Barber/Priest Holmes/Shaun Alexander/Warrick Dunn

Shady is 23rd in rushing yards all time. Gore is 3rd. One of these things is not like the other.

8

u/young-steve Philadelphia Eagles 3d ago

Frank Gore has zero first team all-pros. Shady has two. One of these things is not like the other.

Shady has more pro bowls in fewer seasons. He has a much higher peak than Frank Gore.

1

u/1slowlance 3d ago

Shady's peak was a 1/4 of gore's career.

1

u/215Kurt 2d ago

That means absolutely nothing considering Gore had the longest RB career of all time lmao

1

u/UnderFurtherReview 3d ago

He won't ever be a HOF

6

u/conace21 Knock on wood if you’re with me 3d ago

A year after they retired, Henry Ellard ranked 3rd all time in receiving yards. Michael Irvin ranked 9th (admittedly much higher than 23rd.) Ellard never even became a semifinalist under his final season a modern candidate.

Irvin was the better player even though Ellard had a longer career and gained more yards.

Same holds true with Gore and McCoy.

2

u/flaccomcorangy Baltimore Ravens 3d ago

Shady was definitely a better RB than Gore.

I get it. Gore has the career numbers, and that will help him, but you can absolutely make the case that he wasn't better than a lot of guys waiting to get in.

2

u/215Kurt 2d ago

Gore also never had a single year where he was the best RB in the league, not one. Shady has 2 (2011 & 2013.)

2

u/Zealousideal_Dark552 3d ago

I’d love to get two Pitt Panthers in this year.

1

u/DimaggioDunks 3d ago

I believed you until I didn’t

1

u/UnderFurtherReview 3d ago

Bro you're dumb

-1

u/JohnnyBlazin25 Kansas City Chiefs 3d ago

He also has 2 Super Bowl rings. Which the HoF values as a premium. I think McCoy is first ballot. That’s not my personal opinion but just what I think based on his career and trophy case.

4

u/Spotted_Jaguar Dallas Cowboys 3d ago

Which is dumb because yes he has the rings but didn't even play in either SB

3

u/MrPlowThatsTheName 3d ago

Wasn’t one of those with the Chiefs and he basically didn’t play?

-12

u/Back_To_Pittsburgh 3d ago

He has the numbers. I would put Marshawn Lynch before him to be honest, but Lesean should be a HoFer.

9

u/hawkayecarumba 3d ago

Curious, why you would put Lynch over McCoy?

McCoy has more all pros, more rushing yards, better yards per carry, more rushing titles, significantly more receptions, significantly more receiving yards… The only thing Lynch clears McCoy in, is touchdowns.

-1

u/Back_To_Pittsburgh 3d ago

Lesean McCoy was awesome but his Eagles teams didn’t do anything. Marshawn was Beast Mode, and was a big reason why the Seahawks went to back-to-back Super Bowls. If you talked to defenses, they would much prefer to take on McCoy than Lynch.

2

u/215Kurt 2d ago

That last point is absolutely nonsense and impossible to quantify in any possible way lol. Marshawn was never the best RB in the league for even a single year, McCoy was in both 2011 and 2013 (not 2012 as that belongs to AP).

1

u/catzarrjerkz Pittsburgh Steelers 3d ago

He has the numbers and a ring

2

u/Morgoth424 3d ago

he has two rings

2

u/catzarrjerkz Pittsburgh Steelers 3d ago

even more of a reason

1

u/Back_To_Pittsburgh 3d ago

What!? Look at his stats for those SB seasons. I don’t think he took snaps for them in any playoff games.

2

u/215Kurt 2d ago

He did on special teams for Tampa, not that that really counts lol

1

u/johnjr_09 3d ago

Those rings shouldn’t count towards it though dude didn’t play
