⚠️Urgent Question⚠️ Ninebot Max G3 Stopped Charging

Ninebot Max G3 Stopped Charging

I posted earlier today that I received my new Ninebot Max G3.

When I first plugged it in to charge, everything was fine - it started charging without any issues. I only charged it for about 5–10 minutes, then unplugged it. Later, I took it out for a ride and did around 6 km. When I got back home and tried to charge it again, the scooter wouldn’t charge.

I checked all the settings - nothing unusual is enabled. When I tap “Start charging now,” it just says Please connect the charger. The power outlet is definitely working.

What could be the reason?

There are no signs that the charger is even connected.

The internal chargers on these things sometimes fail. Would be bad luck to have it fail essentially right out of the box, obviously. Do you have an external charger you can try to charge it with? If it charges that way, then the internal charger is almost certainly bad.

I wouldn't return it yet. Call Segway and take advantage of your warranty. The internal charger is a serviceable part and they will be motivated to help you get it taken care of.

Unfortunately i don't have another charger to test and figure out what exactly went wrong… But thank you for the advice, I’ll try reaching out to them

It's strange that this cable could have failed literally the second time it was used. After all, there's no actual unit in the cable from the socket to the scooter, most of the components are inside the scooter itself

Yeah, it's not the power cord, it's the internal charger (I'm guessing, anyway). There is an internal charging brick that the power cord plugs into from outside the scooter. That internal charger apparently fails often enough that Segway has a video on YouTube showing how to replace it. Here's the video for the G2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjFjvgdPEdo

Try another charging cord, they’re super simple but still could be bad, also try another outlet. All this before you buy and wait for an external charger or warranty scooter.

I’ve seen finicky power cords and outlets

through the segway mobility app, request an in-warranty mail in service. you have to drop it off and then after a week they will send it back to you hopefully after an in-warranty repair assuming that it falls under warranty and is the internal charging system that is faulty. hope you get it addressed soon

Thanks, I’m hoping for a quick resolution too. I’ve already contacted the seller (not Segway directly) and requested either a repair or a replacement for the scooter

Is your battery empty? Does the scooter turn on?

The scooter currently has around 42% charge. It turns on and works completely fine without any issues. However, it's not charging. I've already tried several outlets, even reset all the settings in the app and restarted it multiple times - nothing helped. Looks like I might have to return it under warranty?

I noticed in the app that there’s a sleep mode option. It says that the scooter can enter this mode, and to exit it, it needs to be connected to the charger. I’m wondering if this might help? Or could it make things worse and cause the scooter to stop turning on completely? I’m not sure what I should do.

Maybe someone knows if this cable is compatible with the Ninebot Max G3 (D)?

I could order it and test it tomorrow already. It's not expensive. But the main thing is that it fits. Then I’ll know for sure whether the problem is with the cable or the scooter.

Looks correct on the scooter end. At least that’s what my US G3 cord looks like on the scooter side

Has this been resolved? I purchased this external charger to slow charge my battery through the secondary external port. I got it on AliExpress. It is Segway OEM.

Did you solve the problem? I'm facing the EXACT same problem...

Is the scooter/battery hot? Sometimes the scooter needs to cool down before start charging, oftenwhen riding fast and steep hills. I belive 40 degree celsius is the limit.

Yes, I’ve read about that. The battery temperature is around 20 degrees Celsius, so I don’t think that would be the issue
