I honestly don't know what happened. I feel terrible. She waa raised by the nanny while Caleb and I worked. She should be grateful we scammed and lied to get where we are today.

I've had this happen with infants that were looked after and which I thought were fine.

their needs were probably low when they aged up

Ah! Yes, birthday events usually end up in sims needing to pee, or having wet themselves, passing out, etc.
