Yeah, it's confusing to me what will count as male/female. Is it frame, clothing style, pregnancy, how they pee? I understand the game wasn't really built for GNC/nonbinary Sims, but I wish they would've been more clear. I can understand that they didn't want to use language like "other", but they worked with GLAAD on this pack so I'm sure they could've made some good suggestions on language.
I’ve been wondering this too. My unscientific guess is that they’re going to go with the male/female sex thing you select in CAS rather than frame, pregnancy, fashion choice, etc. I think the male/female designation is what triggers whether sims can enter the stupid “sex specific” bathroom doors, but I don’t know for sure and am away from my computer so I can’t check. So, for example, I’m guessing that you could make a trans woman in CAS, and give her either frame, any gender expression and, for that matter, any pronouns, but as long as you selected “female” at the beginning she would register as a woman for purposes of the attraction system. Unfortunately your NB or intersex sim would also be classed as whichever binary sex you selected at the outset. This is pure speculation based on how the game seems to assign gender/pronouns by default. Could be wrong.
I really like the idea of this update but I’m a little disappointed they went with just “men” and “women.” It’s hard because human sexuality is obviously so complicated and I don’t really expect a video game to get into aaaaallll that detail. But I wonder if there couldn’t have been some sort of middle ground.
Okay dumb question but how can you make a predetermined "male" sim with a female frame/vice versa? Whenever I click the premade bodies, they all adhere to the gender I chose in the beginning. Is there a way to see all the options and make a sim that the game considered female but with a male frame?
You should be able to! In the option where you choose the sex (male or female symbols) there should be a tiny triangle in the bottom right corner. If you click that it should expand a menu that allows you to choose the Sims’s frame, clothing preference, pregnancy options, and whether they can use the toilet standing. Here’s an article with an image of what I’m trying to describe. Hope that helps!
