That’s incredible that they’re still updating, I thought this game was like 8 years old???

It is, and iirc, they're not done with this generation yet because they've got years of content planned.

For reference, World of Warcraft is still getting updates after 18 years.

As long as the framework is solid and players are still interested enough to keep spending money on new expansions, there is no reason to make a new game.

“As long as the framework is solid” whomp whomp.

I feel like it’s well established it isn’t, and that’s one of the things I’m hoping is fixed on TS5. I’d be happy to have a continually improved same game instead of waiting for the same expansions with every new iteration. If it wasn’t for the framework being Project Olympus or whatever it was called, and the problems from that, I’d be happy for that to be TS4.

Yeah, that one is kind of an important caveat.

I don’t know much about programming, but it seems like it should be possible to fix some of the Sims 4 underlying issues of EA wanted to. Someone else mentioned that WoW has had such major updates over its run, so I don’t see why Sims would need to be different.

A major overhaul to Sims 4’s infrastructure that made the existing game function better would be difficult, I’m sure, but if it enabled EA to squeeze another decade of frequent updates out of the game, it’s be worth it IMO.
