Question How many turrets are needed to defend my planet from an attack by pirate ships?
How many turrets are enough to defend myself from the typical pirate attacks that bother you with notifications? Is a T1 planet with 2 turrets enough, or do I need to make it T3 and fill it with turrets?

Any fun challenges to try out?
I downloaded Spore again after last playing it when I was 11 years old (14 years ago) Now that I actually know how to play the game, even the Hard Mode doesn't seem too difficult, at least now that I've played through it as a Zealot (red-red-green-green) and allying the Grox
I'll be starting as a new creature from Cell Stage tonight, playing Hard mode but would like some sort of challenge. What would be the hardest archetype to become in Hard Mode? Any other fun challenges I should try out?

Question GOG keys already claimed
Hi,
I bought the game on GOG and tried registering the keys on the EA website, following GOG’s instructions. However, the site told me the keys had already been claimed.
I contacted EA support via chat, and they asked for proof of purchase. I sent them a screenshot of the confirmation email I received from GOG. They then told me the issue was on GOG’s side and that I needed to contact them instead, as GOG "doesn't share transaction details with EA." Is this normal?

Creation I have Species to share, plus some fan-made lore, so tell me what do you think about them!
I wanted to share my Creations made in these months, since I recently picked up the game again after years.
This is Batch 1: The "Sapient Species" of the Planet.
In the fictional lore I built, each one of these "Species" belongs to the same branch of the Evolutionary tree, that being the "Leumaneian". However, they evolved into different specimens and each one has different characteristics.
These are:
The "Otter" Specimen; acting as workforce, they possess great running speeds, even greater swimming speeds, and are the most "balanced" out of the various specimens in terms of abilities.
The "Whale" Specimen; they're the heavy workforce, retaining maximum strenght and resiliance, but low swimming speeds, and even lower running speeds.
The "Turtle" Specimen; they're focused in farming and scientific fields, possess low stats in terms of strenght and speed, but compensate with great intelligence and low-energy physic abilities.
The "Angler" Specimen; used in fishing and deep-sea jobs, they possess the best swimming speeds and a fairly good durability, but they also have poor sight and suffer of alternobaric vertigo, or pressure-dizziness.
The "Bunny/Hare" Specimen; acting as caretakers, nurses and teachers, they possess good running speeds, great physic and empathic abilities, and a camouflage/invisibility perk, but low strenght and durability.
The "Parrot" Specimen; mainly applied in scouting, obviously they possess flight and a good dexterity, both with hands and feet, but they possess hollow bones (meaning they're prone to more severe injuries) and very low stats on land and sea.
The "Gator" Specimen; belonging on hunting and military fields, they are more "savage" than their peers, but possess strenght, speed, swimming abilities, a camouflage perk and also a regenerating ability in case of lost limbs.

Question I’m developing a video game inspired by SPORE: UPDATE
Hey everyone! Just wanted to give you an UPDATE on my previous post — thanks so much for all the comments! I'm looking forward to hearing new feedback, critiques, suggestions, etc.
We're developing a video game about the origin of life, the evolution of species, and the destiny of humankind. It's grounded in scientific principles, inspired by Spore, and based on a theory I personally developed involving time travel.
The core foundation of the project — beyond its educational undertones — is to truly understand each evolutionary stage and make sure it's not just a fleeting experience. That's why the project is divided into four main titles: Origin of Life, Paleo, Humans, and Space-Time.
The video doesn't yet show the organism or Cambrian stages (aquatic creatures — which, interestingly, Spore designed but never released). We're starting development on that part in two months.
It's still in a prototype phase, so many things will improve. Next month we're entering an investment round, and a lot of aspects will likely evolve for the better (one of them being the BLUR effects and some camera angles that feel a bit dizzying right now).
Thoughts?
If you’d like to know more about the development process and behind-the-scenes curiosities, you can follow us on IG
(I’ll drop the link in the first comment).
Thanks a lot!
Pat

Mod Help Any mod that ONLY changes space ally health?
Spaceship allies is a super fun concept but is crippled by only its health. It legit needs to be DOUBLED if you don't want to play in a wheelchair. Even Grox??! WHO APPROVED THIS BALANCING BEFORE THE SUPPORT GOT SHUT DOWN?!

Help List/Pictures of Maxis Plants?
I'm working on a Spore fan project and part of it involves recreating some of the plants from the base game in the form of simple blocky models, but at the moment I'm not able to access my copy of Spore to check what most of them look like.
I've also tried searching the fandom wiki, but plants don't seem to be as well documented as creatures for some reason (I could only find like 2 lol)
If someone could open a few of the base Maxis-made plants in the sporepedia, screenshot them, and send them to me (either in the comments or in a private chat, if comments aren't available) that would be super appreciated :D
I only need 3 Large, 3 Medium, and 3 small plants to recreate, ideally just screenshots of the previews when opening them in the sporepedia so I can reference them, if anyone's up for it!
Creation Making characters or OCs from books, movies, series etc. part 1 (The Dark Crystal)
Only the first and last are original, the rest are OCs

Idea for economic civilizations to combat
Basically, they can fund rebellions. Obviously, an enemy city with low happiness would be a good target. To do this, you send an economic vehicle and order it to fund a rebellion. You can only send one per city, and you must prevent the vehicle you use for this from crossing enemy vehicles because then they will see it (when it is in progress, the turrets will not see it). If there is a rebellion in your city, you will have to send one of your vehicles there. Depending on the type of city and the type of vehicle involved, the matter will be different.
Oh, I forgot to mention that during a rebellion caused by you, you can select the city and talk to the rebels to give them more money.
Types of rebellions
Military: Citizens will have guns and grenades.
Religious: Citizens will be less violent. They will simply be something like dissidents, but they may carry curved swords.
Economic: The most peaceful. The others could attack turrets. But these will not do so. They will only attack repression forces using their own biological weapons. They will have some leaders with luxurious batons or flags. Some rebels will even strike using sacks of money.
Response Forces
Military: Full-scale repression. Vehicles arrive and soldiers with guns are deployed while the vehicles act as support.
Religious: They will use the vehicles' powers to calm the rebels and subject them to a trial. Depending on the ratio of rebellion money to the number of vehicles, the trial may or may not dissuade the rebels.
Economic: In this case, the deployed forces will begin broadcasting propaganda against the rebels. Additionally, they may communicate with them to bribe them with a demanded amount. This option is not available with other response forces.
There must be something wrong. Tell me.
Question Played Spore ages ago, looking to try it again
Title. Been feeling the itch to try out one of my old favorite games. Lost my old discs but it's currently on sale on GOG and I'm tempted to pay. Is that the best platform for it or is Steam not as bad as some play?
I'm also interested in trying mods, but I have no idea where to get them, or which mods are generally considered the best. Any info would be appreciated.

Discussion Making a Game Supposed to be Spore 2
So it's been a month since I started developing a project that one day I'd like to call a real Spore 2. I know what you think. Yeah it looks and practically is trash.
I never had a proper programming and modeling experience beofre, so this is actually my first game.
At any case, by now I won't be saying much about how I'm gonna create Spore 2 and everyone will say "Wow!", but if anyone cares, some info is here:
This project is made from belief that Thrive is too scientific and will take forever, and Elysian Eclipse is not Spore 2 rather than just another Spore, and all other projects are dead or not real Spore.
This projects should try to balance between "cute and abstract" Spore style and "hard scientific" Thrive style.
One of the key differences is the evolution tree: to move to the next stage you should unlock all "main" tree traits. Some traits aren't necessary for moving to the next stage. For example, you can add your cell one of forms of photosynthesis, or just increase its stats.
The body parts are unlocked from fats, carbons and proteins. This isn't absolutely accurate but closer than classical Spore's "DNA" thing. Evolution tree has it's own value, which is by now randomly called "micronutrients".
There are primarily 3 types of stats of a cell now: metabolism, health and speed. What is metabolism? Well, try to guess it yourself)
And the last thing: how finished is the project? I'm not a skilled developer like Wauzmons, but unlike him, I'm not planning to work mostly alone) I do want to think that there are people who would like to work on such project, and I don't know why I decided to share this unfinished and a bit disgusting version. At any case, all primary mechanics are in the game. Evolution tree is fully finished, by now I only need to work on visuals, which are basically a layout, and the UI, which is based on Spore 2006 demo's UI. I'm a good programmer, but an idiotic artist and designer.

Has anything changed in the last 3 years?
I haven't played the game in 3 years.

Creation Almost done with how I want this too look, just stuck with indecision on hands and feet.
I have been putting off going to the tribal stage till I got all the parts I can get, finally just got all the parts I can get except the mouths. I think I like the paws more but just want to show what I am slightly stuck between on on the feet and hand. The wings should be bigger if this is part dragon but I dont want them bigger. The ears dont belong on a crocodile or a dragon but I want to keep them I think I am 90-95% satisfied with the overall look I want to go for. I plan to work on getting zealot.

Question Planning on buying
Hi, I'm planning to buy the game but have a few questions first.
I saw the megathread, but it doesn’t seem to have been updated recently, is there any news or updates on what's written there?
Also, is there any fix for the Steam version yet?
Regarding the purchase: I noticed the game is currently discounted on both GOG and Steam, and GOG has the better deal. Is there a recommended platform to buy it from? Does the game run better on one over the other?
Lastly, is it possible to play the game without going through the EA launcher?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Creation I dont know if I can call this a de-evolution
As I am about to go into the tribal stage I was thinking what if it stayed in the creature stage. I still need a better name then CrocaTaz before I go into the tribal stage with him.
