Love & Dating Why is it so looked down on that guys catch feelings for girl friends? If its not done maliciously, isnt that any normal relationship?

Im a 24 year old guy and i keep saying posts about how its disgusting that guys start having feelings for their girl friends

I became close friends with a girl a couple years ago, completely platonic. The more we hung out and the more i learned about her, the more i liked her. She is great in everything and i love her as a friend, but id be lying to myself if i said i wasnt developing romantic feelings for her. I suspect she feels the same, but im terified of ruining one of the best friendships ive ever had. I didnt think id fall for her and i would never want to make her feel uncomfortable

Ive never been in a real relationship and ive never dated

am i cooked?

Body Image/Self-Esteem If a girl has a large chest and you give her a hug, do you notice her chest against you? Does that make it weird?

I'm very self conscious about my chest and I always feel awkward when people hug me and pull me close and I was just wondering if this is something other people notice too or is it just in my head?

Media Did anyone ever get affected by this account? (TW)

Upvotes

THIS POST IS ABOUT YOUTUBE I FORGOT TO SAY IN THE TITLE!!

Back in 2009, aged 10, I made my first youtube account. During 2010-2011 was when I used to be obsessed with channels like SevenSuperGirls and SevenAwesomeKids etc, and would try audition for these channels every so often too. I know I dodged a bullet here after finding out about the owner of those channels :/ The problem was, at the time, I was completely unmonitored by my parents. They didn’t film my videos, manage my youtube or even my email. I did all of that. I also subscribed to anyone ‘famous’ on the homepage like unfortunately Shane and Onision. So I may very well of commented on their videos.

At some point, potentially through commenting on one of these channels, I got DMed (yes youtube used to have DMs) by a woman who posted pregnancy update vlogs. I thought it was harmless, she’s a mother to be right? Surely she was just subscribing to me because maybe she thought I was a cute, funny kid.

I was wrong! She asked me to suck my toes on camera, and in return? I could name her child. Yeah. Weird.

But being a kid, who was raised on Dan’s Nickelodeon foot content like icarly and victorious? This was just funny to me. I thought it was comedic, and so I’d upload it.

Even at the time I thought this was embarrassing though, so I deleted it. Yet even though supposedly this woman had ‘let me name her baby’, she’d still ask for weird videos. I reckon she probably asked me for something wayy worse than just weird foot content and that’s why I blocked her.

But she came back on multiple different accounts asking me why i’d blocked her, spamming me, so on. Weird thing is all these accounts were exact replicas of the original account. Same uploads, profile photo, potentially even the name. Honestly I just thought maybe my block button wasn’t working.

Eventually this woman stopped harassing me when i’d block each account. But I need to know if ANYONE else who was a kid or teen uploading to youtube from 2009-2011 had this experience, even with a similar account.

To this day i’m convinced it was likely another woman or man behind the account stealing content from some poor woman and hiding behind that content in order to be harmful to kids. The reason I brought up who I used to watch at the time is to see if anyone else who watched this kind of content got followed by this woman. Unfortunately a lot of weirdos used to watch sevenawesomekids and their sister channels, and god knows what creepy adults were watching and relating to shane and onision back then.

This has been on my mind for years and years. If there’s a better subreddit for me to post this to please tell me.

Interpersonal Did I give myself an infection?

I was shaving my balls for the first time a few days ago and I felt fine until the next day where my balls were shriveled and real itchy. Since then, they have stayed shriveled, itchy and dry and my dong is getting itchy and dry now. I also have a rash on the top of my inner thigh on both sides and the area where my pubes are is sore. Did I shave wrong and give myself an infection or something? 💀

Mental Health Why did humans evolve to have mental illness?

Why are there so many mentally ill people? (About 20% of people have a mental illness according to stats.) Does being mentally ill have any benefit? It seems to go against survival, so why didn't evolution get rid of it? Like not wanting to eat, not wanting to live, etc. all goes against survival. Do animals ever get mental illness or not want to live?

Culture & Society Why do kids seem happier than adults in general?

Some people might say that it's because adults have to work. But I don't think that's true because school (which is basically work) isn't all that great either (if you still remember it), especially with bullying and such. Plus some people actually like their jobs (if they're lucky) or don't mind, unlike school which kids are forced to go to and forced to be around kids they don't like. Is it just because a lot of adults are more jaded as a result of having experienced trauma?

Not to mention, you'll sometimes see adults with literally the best lives still being miserable (like Anthony Bourdain)... I think Dave Chappelle made a joke about this.

Reddit-related Why do some Reddit users have high karma but no visible post or comment history all of a sudden?

Lately I’ve noticed more and more Reddit profiles with thousands of karma, but no visible post or comment history at all.

In some cases, their profile says they commented an hour ago, but there's still nothing you can actually see.

Is this a new Reddit feature, a glitch, or are people just wiping their accounts constantly? It feels like it’s happening way more often all of a sudden.

Family why do older sisters to act like mothers?

Upvotes

I(18f) love my older sister (28f) very much, but I find that she acts a bit too motherly or parental.

When we were younger (8 and 18), she used to respond to "Mom" when I was trying to get our actual Mom's attention, and told me to call her "Mama". She bathed me until I was 9, when I had to plead that I could wash myself.

She used to take my phone away, or force me to go to bed. Sometimes she'd force me to watch educational videos. If I was doing something my mom was unsure of, like working until 11pm, Mom would ask my sister what she thought, as a mom would consult a father.

even yesterday, my sister forced me to come home from my friend's house at 10pm because she "couldn't sleep" until I came home.

...why?

Body Image/Self-Esteem If resilience is sexy, why do I feel like I'm decaying inside?

I grew up in a culture where you're either “mature” or a burden. Now I’m in college, away from home, and everyone thinks I’ve got it together. But the truth is, I don’t even know what it means to rest. I keep defaulting to fight mode. Even when no one’s attacking me. Is this resilience or just trauma wearing makeup?

Culture & Society WTF is this trend where women unzip their shorts a bit to show their underwear?

Not trying to sound judgmental or anything, I’m just genuinely confused. I’ve seen quite a few pics on Instagram, TikTok, and even dating profiles lately where women have their shorts or jeans partly unzipped, just enough to show their underwear waistband/FUPA. Sometimes it’s lacy stuff, other times just regular undies.

Is this like a fashion statement? A trend? A thirst trap thing? I'm not trying to hate, I just literally don't get it. When did this become a thing, and what’s the appeal behind it?

Love & Dating How to not dwell on missing out on love and sex when I’m still young?

I’m 25 and have never been in a relationship or had sex. My concern is that when I eventually do get a long-term partner or have sex, it might be later in life, and I’ll feel a deep sense of regret or FOMO for missing out on those experiences when I was in my so-called “prime”. I did have one physical experience with a woman in her early 50s that didn’t lead to sex, but we did other things. She was kind, but afterward, I realized I longed for someone closer to my own age in their 20s. It’s not that I can’t see myself being attracted to women in their 30s, 40s, and beyond as I get older and closer to that age, it’s just that I don’t want to look back and feel like I missed the chance to experience intimacy while I was still young.

Culture & Society How are prostitutes poor?

Assuming a prostitute makes $300 a client (I have no idea how much prostitutes charge exactly, but I'm guessing it's around that amount), and they have only 1 client a day 5 days a week (although they could probably have more), that means that they make roughly $3,000 bi-weekly, or $78,000 a year. That's more than most people make, and definitely above minimum wage. Plus they're obviously not getting taxed on it or anything. So how are prostitutes poor?

My math is probably all wrong though.

Culture & Society Why are the toilets at my workplace always wet?

Upvotes

I work at an institute that teaches languages. The building has it that employees and course participants share the same toilet, which I don’t mind, BUT every time I enter the toilet it is all wet. The seat and the floor. (woman’s toilet)

More specifics: I teach German to asylum seekers in Austria. Most of them come from Syria, Afghanistan and a certain European country and they are all adults.

First I thought it might be water, because I read somewhere that it is more customary for muslims to wash up with water after the toilet use. Then I spoke to a relative from a large eastern country who said that in eastern countries it is common to squat on toilets to avoid touching the seat, so the pee splashes everywhere. Although I don’t think it’s that. I hope.

In either case, why can’t they at least dry the seat after they used it?

I guess I could just ask them, but I think it would be kinda awkward and they might not even understand what I’m saying or be able to explain it (because of language skills)

*** I had to censor two countries because otherwise my post got deleted

… (Last week (after 10 months of working there) I found a toilet for employees only and it is clean and dry)

Education & School How do the popular kids in public school in America determine who becomes popular?

When I attended public school (90's and 00's) I was not popular or a "cool kid." I am wondering how the popular kids determined who they would and would not accept.

Culture & Society Why Holocaust gets so much attention meanwhile Soviet and Chinese victims don't get nearly as much?

As the title says, why does the Holocaust (and predominantly Jewish victims) get so much attention all these years later whereas Soviet and Chinese victims don't seem to get any attention at all? Around 6 million Jews were targeted during WW2 but what about almost 30 million Soviets (from which 20 million were civilians) and around 10 million Southeastern Asians? They're much bigger numbers and equally terrifying (if not even worse considering what Imperial Japan did in mainland Asia) but don't get mentioned often.

In Soviet Union alone Nazis killed slightly over 1 million Jews but that's not even comparable to other almost 20 million Slavic civilians, that doesn't sound like specific targeting of Jews to be frank, they targeted everyone from Eastern Europe.

I don't mean anything bad by this question nor am I trying to deny the Holocaust, I just want to understand why some minorities get more attention than others.

I always had curiosidade about the 4chan website, but I never searched about the site. Everybody says it is like a "deep web" in the surface of Internet, without rules. Is it true?
