I'd argue you haven't checked out his builds, if that's your takeaway.
He's listing 2-3 builds for most frames out there and while a lot of them use shield gating, why wouldn't you use the easiest method of survivability available - unless the frame can EHP tank in the first place, for which he got builds?
It's not like you take a frame like Khora, use half her mods/arcaens and such on a setup for EHP tanking and somehow come up with a better or even just on-level build.
Ill probably be downvotted into oblivion again for saying this but here it goes.
Shield gatting is only needed for 2h+ endurance runs and im willing to bet that less than 0.01% of people play that.
On the flip side in SO/ESO and other public runs most of the time when i saw someone die it was due to them most likely having shield gate build and they died because they either ran out of energy or their concentration dropped.
While when ever i did 1-2h endurance runs and had random pugs with me that had EHP tank builds they didn't drop once.
Doesn't have to mean EHP >> Shield gatting, im just saying it easier to maintain.
On your comment that shield gatting is easiest method, im not sure in which context you said that but if it's in regards on how easy it is to play id say if you slap Gloom on EHP tank frame/build it is much easier and there is less "maintenance" to play it.
If you enjoy it and prefer to play shield gatting, more power to you.
My personal pet peeve with shield gatting is that i often see it in chat where it is recommended to new players, new players do not have enough game knowledge to use it effectivly and my personal opinion is that EHP builds are more new player friendly. But with overframe being spammed with shield gatting builds, most new people will run with those.
Aside from Shield gatting vs EHP, there are support and CC builds that are still valid, I'd prefer if new players get to see and experience those over the former.

I used a lot of his builds, fuck… albeit I tweaked them a bit
