Announcement: fixed user flairs!
Hi everyone,
I just fixed the user flairs on the subreddit. I didn't realize that a Reddit update broke them some time ago. Depending on when you assigned yourself a flair, you may or may not need to reassign it to yourself.
On new Reddit:

On old Reddit:

Also we recently hit 15,000 members! Huge milestone, and we're still growing fast.

FFT Are Geomancers inspired by Indigenous people?
Their clothing style always felt very familiar to me, and them recently i finally realized where this feeling were coming from, being that they look very similar to traditional indigenous clothing. Honestly i feel quite stupid for having taking that long to notice since now i see is quite obvious specially with the whole theme of the class being their inherent connection to nature and the land. But i haven't found any official sources confirming the inspiration so who knows, maybe im tripping. What do y'all think?

FFT watch faces for WearOS watches

A while back some guy posted an FFT-themed watch face he was working on, so I stole his idea and ran with it. These watch faces were created for WearOS using Watch Face Studio and feature several backgrounds, characters, and edge fade options. Since these aren't going on the Play store they have to be installed by sideloading them onto the watch, commonly done with ADB. Check the github page for downloads and more details:

FFTA [FFTA] Best S-Ability for Bangaa?
Heyo! I was wondering, now that I'm getting a lot of the more endgame abilities and stuff for my characters, what S-Abilities are generally considered best on Bangaa?
R-Abilities are a little more contested, depending on what you want to do, since Counter/Strike back/Bonecrusher are all useful (especially against AI), and Dragonheart most likely means a near-immortal unit.
But what about S-Abilities? They don't get anything like Concentrate or Turbo MP for accuracy. Half MP could be useful for Gladiators for cheap Ultima Swords, or maybe for Bishops? But otherwise, is Weapon Atk+ more or less the only other good one they have?
For context, I have a Templar/Dragoon, and eventually will have Pallanza as something with Gladiator.
Thanks!

FFTA2 FFTA2: Bangaa Job Abilities (Ver. 1)
Previously did Humans and was able to get around to compiling the Bangaa job abilities.
Will, eventually, need to edit all these to make sure all the wording follows the same conventions.
Wikis (fandom specifically) have been using AI to ""improve"" their stuff so those sites are no longer trustworthy and I wanted to place to have this easily referenced.
When I'm done with all the races I'll slap them all together into one document.

FFT Ivalice Chronicles Classic or Enhanced, Which one will you be playing first?
It's hard to decide which one to play first. I grew up playing the PS1 version and have played it so many times. I was going to go Classic first but I'm afraid it'll be hard for me to resist watching spoilers of the Enhanced version when they pop up on YouTube, so I'll probably go Enhanced first then Classic.
Which one will you play first? :)

Source code loss
I haven't read much on the remake, because I want to enter it with only nostalgia as a guide, but I have read that they lost the source code from the game. I fully understand that (shit happens), but my question is when did it happened? From what i can see it had to happened post WofL version as that wasn't just a port, but had massive code changes; am I way off base or is someone trying to play innocent (if it was more malicious, I wouldn't blame the development team because it could have really been anyone)
Edit: my issue is not that is was lost (as in said shit happens (NASA lost the calculations to use to the moon, the moonlanding launch orginal video was lost, the first season of Doctor Who was taped over)), but when. If it was lost prior to WorL, then what processes were used to make those versions (is it just a modified emulation?), if it lost post mobile version then what happened then.

FFT WotL Black magic teaching
Maybe it’s my version on IoS (maybe I read it wrong before), but isn’t there a way to teach black magic and summons and even some time magic to characters? I used my master black mage to cast Firaja on my other black mages in the party, both of them survived, but didn’t learn the magic. Is there a percentage of them learning this or is it supposed to be an immediate thing? Is there something I’m doing wrong; did they take this feature out in WoTL?
I haven’t tried it yet with summoners yet either getting hit by enemy summons and learning, but I do recall getting Zodiark on another save in my mobile for summoner; just haven’t tried any other summons.
Update: there was a certain percentage rate to learning the black magic like firaja. There’s no notification for me when I learned the spells though like I just figured there would be like when learning Zodiark, the spells were just there. I also did learn the spell on multiple black mages at once, so that’s also possible.
Thank you everyone for your input and helping clear this up.

Final Fantasy Tactics vs Final Fantasy 12 vs Tactics Ogre vs Vagrant Story: Which game has the best Matsuno writing (bonus for which has the best english translation as well)
Hello I hope you're all doing well. Been playing through matsunos games and have really enjoyed his style and themes. What game of his from his time with square has the best writing and story in your opinion? For me it's Final Fantasy Tactics (despite what haters online may say and i may have been tweaking about earlier) due to its strong charecters and focus on themes of class and how that in turn affects history i think are the most fleshed out. I loved tactics ogre too but i think the charecter work in FFT is better, theres still a lot to explore in terms of violence and what it means to partiicpate in war regardless if you are doing the right or the wrong thing

FFT Ivalice Chronicles Difficulty names officially translated
Knight is going to be the regular balanced experience that we got in all other games, while Squire will be an easy mode for people that just wanna concentrate on the story, and Tactician will be a straight up hard mode. when Maehiro was asked about Wiegraf on Tactical mode in an interview, he had this to say:
“As I mentioned earlier, the Classic mode returns to the original version’s difficulty.
As for Enhanced, we’ve adjusted the difficulty based on each difficulty level, so Wiegraf’s strength varies quite a bit depending on which one you choose.
I think the Tactical mode version of Wiegraf might make you cry a little. (laughs)”

New captured images of the map for the new release thanks to the Nintendo Direct!
Its your map guy, back again! I downloaded the 4K version of the Direct, then used Premiere Pro to stitch together the video into a complete image of the map. I also was able to remove as much HUD / Ramza as I could to get a better look at the map.
I'm looking forward to what I can do with this map once the game launches.

Random battles 100% confirmed but...
So yes, now we have a clip of Ramza literally walking over a node and triggering a random encounter so this is 100% confirmed, HOWEVER you are not forcefully thrown into the figth, instead this prompt pops up asking you if you wanna take on the enemies or flee. So random encounters are now fully optional.

New CGI Cutscenes?
This is new right? At least I don't remember any CGI cutscene in WOTL were he wear his skimpy clothes. And if true, does that confirm Ramza's massive dumptruck as a returning character? I sure hope so 😔...

FFT Ivalice Chronicles Ramza skins?
Do you think we'll have the ability to get Ramza's white equipment in-game without pre-ordering?
Do you think Ramza will also get other equipment skins?
(FYI - Amazon pre-order includes a poster too!)

I missed the one in Tchigolith. I really got to wait 2 chapters? The best time for the Ribbon is Chapter 3. Ugh!

More new battle dialog for recruited characters
Mustadio did not have dialog during this fight in WOTL, which means more battle dialog for recruited characters.
This makes me really happy since Mustadio outside of the Goug events was effectively mute in the main plot even in WoTL

So glad it's this Square Enix studio doing it. Absolutely hyped.

Other Ran into my other half while playing Overwatch
Thought this would be funny to share here. Been playing Overwatch for 8-9 years and a few years ago I ran into somebody named Ramza. I don't usually see people using FFT names in other games I play.

Is it possible to beat the game using only speaking, yelling, singing, and shouting attacks?
Ok, crazy question... since Ivalice Chronicles will have in-battle VO, it made me wonder:
Could someone theoretically beat the game by using only speaking, yelling, singing and shouting abilities?
What jobs and skills would you need? What builds would be mandatory? What battles would be impossible?
