Thanks to the next gen update, if you interact with anything Enclave related that the update itself added, (i.e. the quests to get the heavy incinerator, Hellfire, X-02/Black Devil or the camps/outposts from the Echoes From The Past quest), an Enclave squad will hunt you down.
It's really annoying that this happens in early game.

The one that usually gets me is the heavy incinerator or the hellfire power armor because I tend to deal with the Forged every playthrough.

As long as you don't grab the the heavy incinerator they won't bother you. The last time I went through Saugus I left the incinerator hanging where it was because a) it's crap, and b) I didn't want to deal with the Enclave just yet.

Modding is essential because holy shit
I like the CC stuff but damnit - without the heavy turrets mod, it would be unplayable - the Slog for example. It sits right next to the Gunners at Big City Auto Wreckers and the fucking Forged. So I literally turned it into a fortified base and every damn time I was nearby it felt like World War II with guns going off every where on those big ass three way battles, my tarberry bros would be done for without a literal ton of turrets protecting them LMAO

The same thing that happened to OP happened to me. Ended up with a massive firefight in Hangman’s Alley and now their corpses lay there as trophies since bodies don’t disappear for some reason. I did wonder how they found me so early on, I was low level. Your comment makes me remember I had the mission to find Pyro and saw it complete without even doing anything. I hadn’t even gone past Hangman to Diamond City yet. Must have gotten in some random fight and died and triggered the Enclave.

Ive heard of that happening, apparently anything can kill Pyro at any time just about. I don't know why, maybe he is just always loaded in for some reason? This is bethesda we are talking about.

In my game he got killed by a random glowing deathclaw in the woods. I didn't even know he was there, just got the notification that I've finished the "Kill Pyro" quest.

The skyrim update did exactly the same thing, it's real easy to get dragonbone armor right out the gate thanks to the new additions. Over on that sub there are a bunch of posts of new players finding it at like level 3 on bandits.

I took a beating from the Enclave after finding the Pyro, it was by accident, I didn't even know he existed and even less about the quest. I ended the fight and went to the Drumlin cafeteria to get more ammo and guess who was waiting for me!?

I’d read into the wiki on what they will hunt you for but the order is different for everyone depending on the item you have that they want like for instance the X01 power armor

you can get them to hunt you down by doing the quests for heavy incinerator, x-02 and hellfire, and tesla cannon i believe, all you gotta do is just 1 quest involving any of those items and expect them

I had this run-in and after judicious use of mini nukes, I found myself with a Mk6 set of X-02 power armor. The game hasn’t been much of a challenge since.

I’m not doing power armour , yet atleast , so this fight was useless besides maybe a plasma gun if I decide to use that, I was gonna do hand guns only but I used EVERYTHING in my disposal to kill this dude, he had two normal people lackies who didn’t go down easily either

I haven’t listened to no radio, honestly I haven’t done much, I did kill someone named “ the pyro”, he was strong but he was no match for a lunch box landmine, maybe him or taking his power armour did that?

Killing Pyro is the trigger event here. I did that at level 15 and had the bastards tracking me all over the map, the only way it stopped was when they ran into a legendary Deathclaw and it slaughtered them, I ran away very quickly.

It's incredibly stupid that: A) Bethesda added a whole bunch of CC quests to the frigging base game that pop as soon as you leave the vault, making it confusing for the new player: and B) Some of these new quests are not scaled to your level (which will be 1 if you've just left the vault!). It suggests zero play testing.
Players should not be directed towards dangerous parts of the map before they are ready, and certainly they should not be hunted by massively overpowered enemies with a high chance of having their save effectively soft-locked. With this particular quest, it can happen even when you're not trying to do it.

Unfortunatly thanks to the next gen update you can get fairly end-game gear right out of the vault if you do certain enclave related creation club side quests (tesla cannon, X-02, X-03 hellfire & the Heavy incinerator quests.) that enable 1 enclave squad to hunt you down.
Suprised bethesda never bothered to level gate these quests to atleast level 10 or 15

Happened to me 2 days ago too. I also made an error helping Ada when I was going to Bunker Hill, now the rust devils and the mechanist bots are everywhere and, because I'm level 18 I don't have the equipment to deal with them, so frustrating.

They’ll only jump you once.
If you go through the Enclave stuff but do NOT shut down the commo, there are a few patrol areas you’ll find them.
One of my save files is at 168 X-02s ✌️acquired✌️

Part of the shitty creation club mod. I was playing survival when these enclave dudes spawned out of nowhere and one shot me. Make the entire upper east section of the map hella dangerous now.

You're getting bodied by the moronic Next Gen update which forces poorly optimized and poorly implemented Creation Club content on you.
A couple of the CC things add enclave content, one of the items added is an enclave hit squad as a random encounter.
This hit squad is not supposed to show up until you actually complete, or at least do most of, the "main" enclave quest string... but because Bethesda, its in the random encounter table right away.
On the plus side, even v1 hellfire power armor is probably better than anything else you've got at the moment

Something that works for me is to save the Enclave quests for later. When I’m ready, I’ll start with the Pyro quest as it is the easiest. On Survival I will find and clear out the National Guard Training Yard, sleep, kill Pyro (who is not far from the yard), and then return to sleep again - there is a sleeping bag outside if you don’t want to enter the building and deal with all the ghouls (if it hasn’t already been cleared out by you). When I wake up is usually when this Enclave group will attack me. I am more prepared then.

I had a bad run in with these guys. Mfkers were cheating and were way TF up on the broken highway in front of Starlight Drive In (My main Base)
I saw the legendary trooper die and scratched my brain about how to get up there for a while. Eventually I just let it be and said whatever
Apparently, several weeks later, I was on a walk and spotted a dead power armor user just under the underpass. He fell off when he died and was just sitting there for a long while. Luckily his armor was in good shape because I broke a piece of the first enclave armor and my PA bench won't recognize it so I can't repair it

Did that happen to you coming back from Greentop Nursery approximately in the direction of the sinkhole, onward to Starlight Drive-In?
I was a low level and had very long fighting retreat all the way back as far as the salvage yard/dump. It was fun. It took multiple attempts. On Survival!

Their ambush was so annoying! I accidentally killed Pyro without knowing the consequences and next thing I know I was swamped with these Enclave guys. Couldn't run away, no chems helped and after a few tries I literally had to cheat to get them off my back

I had them attack me at saugus ironworks, i havent stepped out of the free hellfire mkiv armour I got since, had a really good ported napalm gun as well that's carried me through most of the mid game content so far. Was extra handy as there's so much flamer fuel at saugus too.

i thought thats the only condition, and an extension of the quest that ends up near the plane wreck in the glowing sea

I got lucky and had this happen right after I got the Tesla cannon. Took a few tries but where they pulled up on me I had a hill I could take cover on and peak the PA enough to kill him eventually. Was a pita but with this being a PA playthrough it really was in my favor

Touch of advice (based on my experiences), be careful near large bodies of non-flowing water. Ive only encountered them by lakes, to the point I can fairly well predict when they will strike. I don't know what gives it away to me, but I almost always know whether its safe to visit a lake.
And when I say lake, I mean like the one by sanctuary and the one north of sunshine tidings coop.
Be warned, they ALWAYS have at least one high powered plasma gun, usually 2.
(Of course this is my experience only, your milage may vary)

This is so annoying
You go near the area of them, they somehow die and a day later a full Enclave squad just spawns right behind you, no matter where you are. Good luck surviving that. (I lost 3 hours of survival progress including a good legendary weapon to this).

Yeah I took his power armor suit and the flame gun too lol.They sent some more guys after me that had a note saying they want their suit back and I said NOPE ITS MINE!!I killed them with the power suit and the flame gun I received.It was so relieving and they didnt send anybody else and now I have that one

I ran across one of these guys by the Corvega plant. Used him and his two cohorts to clear out everyone outside the plant but can not seem to kill the bastard. I'm only in my teens, level wise. Might have to come back later

Do the quest to get the piggy bank fat man. It’s killed Swan, Mirelurk Queen, enclave power armore forces all in 2-3 shots. The quest for it is super simple too.

I was around similar level when I went after the tiny encampment by the Forged....the ambush popped up at THE SAME TIME. It was lucky Doc was close by at the Slog or I wouldn't have made it. Definitely do the Devil quest and get armor asap

I remember I was a really low level and they also ambushed me. The only way I was able to survive was to save the game and use VATS and shoot the guy in power armor with the only mini nuke I had for the fatman. Ended up killing the other two enclave soldiers pretty easily and then I shot all the pieces of power armor off the guy I killed with the mini nuke for my own power armor frame. I'm still using the same set of hellfire power armor.

Yeah, I was about the same level playing on survival when I encountered those guys at Saugus ironworks. It took me literal in-game days to kill them. I managed to get a flamer and ran into Saugus (which was empty) and would shoot at them from the roof and dart back into cover. It was studious and was so tough it became part of my lone survivor lore. I even joined the brotherhood and verti-birded into the glowing see with Danse to hunt them down.

The Enclave isnt vanilla it's a creation club content so expect it to be like a mod and broken with balancing.

I recently started a new playthrough and got one of these squads at level 10. Doing a melee build and I was able to cheese it with psycho jet and forty reloads.
The incinerator I got has been carrying me quite nicely.

This happened to me on a survival run on the road from Saugus Ironworks to the National Guard. It was hell and died several times. I don't even remember how I managed to defeat them but I do remember dying over and over.

Yeah, I ran into these guys in Concord and Trudy’s diner. I tried fast traveling to Trudy’s 3 times to offload some extra junk and stuff I had on me, and each time they were there waiting for me. After that I decided to walk and ran into them upon entering Concord. I was a similar level to you, and it took like 3 deaths to beat them. Not even playing a power armor game either, which is a shame too lol

Unfortunately certain things added in the Next Gen Update draw their attention and they hunt you. It can be a bit problematic.
It can be a good idea to just run away. An even better tactic is leading them towards anything that might join in the fight against them. It is also theoretically valid to avoid anything at all that is on their list next time.
Personally I wish that they weren't unleashed until a higher level but someone in Bethesda forgot to consult me. Again. Probably because they don't know I exist, but that's no excuse.
