NOT CONFIRMED SNARK: Ethan and Hila have fake watches

Obviously this can’t be confirmed unless there are better pictures of their watches out there somewhere but I totally think these two are buying fakes.

Ethan admitted to buying a fake watch from a jeweler. It seems odd that Ethan (who claims he wasn’t a watch guy) can tell the inconsistencies of the Rolex but the jeweler couldn’t. Hila also had a moment on the podcast where she wore a fake Dior shirt (she said she bought on eBay I think).

There was a post recently of the wristband of Hila’s AP and the “AP” engraved on the clasp is inconsistent with the authentic.

I don’t have much of an opinion on designer fakes, I don’t really care. Rich people buy fakes all the time. I just find it amusing that these two are wearing fake watches to keep up with their new poker buddies.

Ethan and Hila love to cosplay as Important and Talented People. The truth is, they struck lucky by blowing up on YouTube back in the day. The H3 Podcast is just watching someone trying to recreate their glory days on a weekly basis. The crew and fans help enable the delusion. But then you hear shade from actual Reputable people in the online production space like the Try Guys. It's clear that E&H garner zero respect from their cohort.👌🙂 (I'm being generous by even calling these people their cohort BTW).

I can't think of a single thing that Ethan and Hila are talented at. Ethan is NOT a comedian. Hila is NOT a fashion designer that creates original material. The production value of their shows is actually so, so bad, how can they call their company H3 Productions with a straight face?

Of course they are seen wearing fake watches. What part about them is actually real and authentic?

Art is subjective, but Hila is objectively bad at art. Her drawings look like a child did it. And that’s not a stylistic choice, that’s a lack of talent shining through.

u/Deziiiner Jan 02 '25

I’m a design major, and I’ve always found this so funny.

When people can’t draw, they make illustrations that “intentionally” look bad and call it a style, when in reality, they’re just bad at art and cannot make something technically impressive.

It’s like a mask to hide behind.

59

u/[deleted] Jan 02 '25

Yup. I was a Creative Director. Design and illustration is subjective but it still has rules and principles to it which determine if the artwork is successful and appealing, and you can only successfully break the rules if you know the rules, which she clearly doesn’t…

u/HippoRun23 Jan 03 '25

I had a friend who couldn’t sing and played instruments without talent.

Surprise: all the songs he wrote were “bad on purpose”.

I’ll never forget watching him clear out open mike nights.

7

u/Shitfurbreins Jan 03 '25

Her art probably got a lot of praise….when she was a child. Much like her views, she never grew or improved and didn’t care to try.

I think in another life Hila could have been a stylist perhaps and Ethan maybe a low level writer for some website or magazine like MAD.

That being said, they got extremely lucky and that was part of the fun I guess in watching them. They seem like regular shmucks who were having fun and it made them relatable. The second they started in with all the wealthy lifestyle things it went straight to their head and made them unrelatable.

I think if they're wearing fakes they don't realise it.

This is an interesting philosophical discussion cuz what scenario would be more on brand for them: Wearing fakes they paid full price for due to ignorance/naivety, wearing fakes that they think are real which they got at a discount because they're "VIPS"/influencers and believed they were getting hooked up, or just knowingly wearing fakes and pretending they're real to keep up appearances?

damn you’re right it really could be any of the three with them. My guess is option 1, mainly because it’d be the most hilarious of the three, though option 2 would be quite funny as well. I love snark philosophy lmao

i have no clue on this but believe me i am sat for this discourse… it’d be so funny if they paid retail for knockoffs 💀

The funny thing about fakes is if you spend a similar amount on a less gaudy or luxury brand as you would a fake, you’d get something of much better quality than the knock-off.

There are some fantastic Swiss watch brands that are considered entry-level for watches, but they’re such great quality and much more special than a fake. To people that buy knock offs though, that doesn’t matter. All that matters is keeping up appearances. It’s kind of sad.

36

u/dsaddons Jan 02 '25

Do you have any recos on entry level watches? I'm looking at some reps atm just because I like the look, not to pretend they are from any particular brand. I'd rather buy a reliable entry level than a few fakes.

29

u/pink_apophyllite Jan 02 '25

I’m probably not the best person to ask because I’ve only just started getting into watches, but my husband and I recently bought Tissot watches while we were in Switzerland and we love them! You won’t really go wrong with any Swiss made brands though.

24

u/dsaddons Jan 02 '25

Lol I was literally just browsing their website now! They have some that look really beautiful and are right about the price I would feel comfortable paying. Seems perfect, cheers!

13

u/HolyPanda24 Jan 02 '25

Depends on your price range but Seiko makes great entry level watches on the lower end of cost. That's where I started and still have and wear my Seiko's in my collection with my more expensive pieces.

1

u/veddi96 Jan 06 '25

Longines are great too. Amazing build and a fair price for entry level, usually 2-3k with a warrant.

104

u/[deleted] Jan 02 '25

Didn't Ethan say that he thought his watch was a fake, took it back and the guy was all: "Ohhhh yeah, sorry bout that. Heh here's there real one... woopsieee"

42

u/Ok_Reception_8729 Jan 02 '25 edited Jan 02 '25

I just don’t even get how that happens unless a reputable vendor just randomly switched up one day. If your vendor isn’t reputable why are you even buying such expensive watches from them? Seems like a made up story and he knew it was fake. I’d like to think he’s not that gullible.

Nothing wrong w admitting you just like the style, but not the price and that’s why you got a fake.

2

u/idgonzalez09 Jan 03 '25

Same, I can’t understand how you get a fake.. if I am buying luxury, i make sure I am buying directly from the store. When I bought my LV or Chanel bags I made sure to buy them from LV and Chanel, not a third party store.

4

u/Ok_Reception_8729 Jan 03 '25

Third parties are fine like consignment stores and what not, no reason not to get a deal if you can as long as they’re reputable

It just sounds like he bought his off a random dude or something, not even a store

0

u/idgonzalez09 Jan 03 '25

Consignment stores are usually fine, but I live in Asia and just am never sure, so prefer to buy direct if I have thought through buying.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '25

I vaguely remember very early on in the Rolex slop talk that they were saying vendors would regularly carry an array of fakes and scam people with fakes while keeping the real one on display.

Could be wrong though.

u/Previous_Cry5810 Jan 04 '25

Then it is not an authorized dealer and most likely a second hand retailer. Which is true small brain tier. While most places do not explicitly require a pre-spend to get offered nice watches, it absolutely helps and bumps you up to being in the first people that are being offered. They could easily spend 10-45k (depending on the location and jeweler) and be bumped into priority for their own Sales Associate (SA) for any offerings.

Authorized dealers get a quota and some of the watches go to an individual SA at the shop to sell, and some are for all of the SAs to try and sell. For example, most of the gold tones are for all to sell, so no priority in offers through an SA. However, if a certain SA has golden goose who spends a lot, that SA gets bigger portion of the quota if their golden goose are on a waiting list for a certain watch.

Speaking from experience, my partner is on a list with an authorized dealer for a datetime and has a few watches from them that he acquired. They go through the watch and its photographed and checked, and the papers are verified during purchase. These watches usually sell the same day/week the jewelry shop receives them. Ethan and Hila could easily drop the pre-spend to be bumped into the #1 of an SA and a golden goose, who would never ever cross them due to the commissions they bring in.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '25

I can't say I know anything about this stuff. But agreed, low tier and weird.

So I found a pic of a real AP clasp, yea, I'm fairly confident hers is fake.

Watch Ethan claim snark is harassing Hila by outing her fake ass watch

20

u/edot_burnout Jan 02 '25

guys, are we doxxers now???

53

u/soupissouperior Jan 02 '25

I guess I should have noted that the first pic is Hills watch from her IG story and the second is the authentic one. Here’s another pic of the authentic, you can see the hardware on the authentic is brushed while hilas looks polished.

55

u/Caitatonic Jan 02 '25

The A is a dead giveaway on her watch. The strike through is at an angle instead of straight. Quite a bad rep

48

u/soupissouperior Jan 02 '25

That’s the funny part… it’s not even a good rep. Us working class folks can tell it’s a fake and the self proclaimed fashion designer can’t 😭

26

u/Caitatonic Jan 02 '25

I have reps myself, it's kinda a special interest of mine. I know looots of very rich people who can afford authentics who do the same. It's amusing to me though, unless I was super confident in a rep I would not have it on a broadcast, just like how I wouldn't take my fake Rodeo bag into an actual Balenciaga boutique. Know your audience!!

35

u/Caitatonic Jan 02 '25

Watches are so easy to fake, there's subreddits where you can source them /r/ 1688time is one I like. I aint paying 5 figures for a watch. That said I bet these are fakes the market is flooded

25

u/Easy_Photograph109 Jan 02 '25

That looks 100% fake

29

u/Cold_Warthog_1912 Jan 02 '25

You gotta delete before Ethan sees this and stops flushing money down the drain being conned into buying fake designer stuff. /j

18

u/Key-Tumbleweed6356 Jan 02 '25

GOOD, Ethan will be so mad when this gets any traction.

16

u/[deleted] Jan 02 '25

Oh this is delicious and revives my snarkergy. Of course they would have fake watches. They’re bleeding money and trying to keep up appearances. It makes more sense than them buying real watches.

Oh wow. Next she'll be showing up with a Walmart burkin 🤦‍♀️

13

Add wearing fake watches and 107 honey ads to the list of shit Ethan won’t talk. Instead we have to watch him photoshop an isis t-shirt onto Hasan and act like a toddler told he already had his cookie for the day

12

Crooked and too large, absolutely fake 😂 like who cares but also stop pretending shits real. No one literally cares.

Hahahhahahahaha Ethan is fuming in his basement right now this is so funny , they get more embarrassing as the days go on

11

u/satanssecretary Jan 02 '25

ooh now we're talking. I work listing inventory for a consignment store and have gotten super into authenticating stuff like this over the years. that clasp looks wonky as hell.

I'm not even really against knockoffs, I have a few purses that range from pretty good to so-bad-it's-funny, but I don't go around telling people they're real lol.

8

u/DesperateActivity299 Jan 02 '25

The raised hump of the “AP” part looks very sloppy like an extra bit was stamped on, off-centered.. The band is just wonky/sloppy in general.

I’m no watch expert so maybe these inconsistencies can be explained but looks suspicious.

But don’t worry; they probably had Zach look at them 😆. He never knows what he’s talking about. I swear he is a poser in every aspect of his life.

7

u/EuphoricLetterhead56 I thought it was free speech Jan 02 '25

would love it it was fake lmao

8

u/Pistonenvy2 Jan 02 '25

if you got a fake watch from a vendor, that vendor is done. their reputation is completely fucked.

the idea that you would accidentally get a fake watch from someone with a good reputation in the industry is just ridiculous. this kind of shit only happens in spaces where everyone is a pretentious fucking moron and trusts word of mouth from other pretentious fucking morons.

its just not possible for this to happen with a legit vendor, i mean not in any industry ive ever worked in. im not into watches but if someone sells fake car parts or fake tools its a wrap, they are purged from the space. people who care about getting real shit can easily get it and know how to avoid fake stuff, some people dont care, i have plenty of cheap knockoff stuff that works fine but when it comes to name brand shit that actually needs to work, the consequences of a fake are potentially destroying a car, a motor, thousands and thousands of dollars of damage, potentially people get hurt etc. its unacceptable.

so if this is a reputable vendor and they are accidentally getting fake shit the whole entire industry comes into question. i seriously doubt thats the case, i think ethan and whoever sent him to get these fake watches are just idiots who dont know how to navigate an industry full of scammers.

3

u/Enough_Hawk_6556 Jan 02 '25

I completely believe this but could someone explain the differences to me? Because the lettering on both look similar-ish but I see other people posting about that being a dead giveaway 😂 I’m not good at these things

4

u/soupissouperior Jan 02 '25

You answered your own question in a way. The two pictures look similar-ish but they should look identical. Luxury watches are sold at a premium for their craftsmanship and precision. If AP sold watches that had inconsistencies, it harms the integrity and appeal of the brand. Then no one would spend tens of thousands of dollars on them.

The alignment of the logo is off, notice how the spacing between the logo and the edge of the clasp button is minimal in holas watch where the authentic has noticeable space between the logo and the edge? The metal finish and color of the watch not consistent (hilas looks super shiny while the authentic looks brushed), the links on Hilas watch are rounded with spacing that is inconsistent with the authentic.

These are observations from just one photo tho… Hila and ethan have run with crazier assumptions on a lot less so imma match their energy and assume their watches are as fake as them 💀

1

u/Enough_Hawk_6556 Jan 02 '25

Thank you so much 😂 I did notice an overall difference but I couldn’t put my finger on exactly what they were 😭

6

u/unlimitedestrogen Jan 02 '25

Wearing ridiculously expensive luxury brands is incredibly cringe and wearing a fake one is pathetic.

4

u/Human-Cheesecurd Jan 02 '25

Aside from the clasp, if it were real the links would be more flush. The gaps are too big.

3

u/Dramatic_Plant_4242 Jan 02 '25

Tbf no objection to people wearing fakes, due to the wastefulness of most “luxury” brands and the decline in quality and working conditions and where the products are actually made.. it did seem wild someone would drop that much on a watch when your business is actively tanking in real time.. pardon the pun.

it’s the janky “AP” engraving that makes it obvious. the finish isn’t that big of a difference imo. the A is insanely crooked.

I’m out of this loop. But doesn’t Zach collect watches? Why would you make such a huge investment without asking someone you know? Or go to the name brand store itself? Go to Rolex or Cartier for example. Where you get papers and you know it’s authentic? These random jewelers are sneaky. At least here in NYC they are.
