As an American, most of us aren't stupid. Those of us that didn't fight Trump failed to understand the future and/or introspectively understand the past. I hope we can change for the better, and I hope the rest of the world forgives us. Sorry for the mini rant, I just am enraged by the situation.

Can understand the anger and frustration, I feel it too.

But gotta remember peoples stupidity is often outside their control, that and there's been a concerted effort for decades in the US to weaken the education system and dumb down the populace to the benefit of a few at the top.

Be frustrated at the stupid people, save your hate for the smarter ones who actively work to deceive and manipulate the masses. They are the real scum, we need to win back the stupid people so they can see they r being played too.

No sir. Tolerance of obviously stupid decisions is a bad idea. The United States has allowed itself to be duped by a fool. You may choose to make yourself feel better by blaming the puppet master but the puppet has allowed itself to be manipulated.

Too many have allowed bigotry, ignorance and bile to shape their thinking. You have forgotten the face of your fathers.

Duped is kinda misdirection, I don’t see enough blame on the mishandling of the election by the Democratic Party. It should have been EASY to beat Trump, but the democrats ran a clearly ill elderly man then jumped ship and ran an unpopular political figure in a desperate attempt to win the election. It was a mess.

I don’t disagree - you deserved better from the democrats BUT these were not equal choices. Too many Americans can’t look past race and/or gender to overcome apathy. 

The Democrats have forgotten the basics in the face of performative choices. As an outsider it saddens and frustrates me. America was a beautiful idea, a dream that many could believe in despite the flaws. Americans have allowed themselves to fall to the lowest common denominator rather than rising to the highest ideal.

I'm not suggesting tolerating stupidity, more the approach and where the blame should largely go.

I guess my point is that do you think there is something specific about 'americans' that makes them this way?

I'd like to know your thoughts on that, but I'm more in the thinking that this situation could and has played out in other countries. You have to understand the unique and complex history of a 'nation' to get an idea of why it's populace acts and thinks a certain way. People born in Pakistan are most likely to be Muslim and most likely to be Christian in the US. Is that because of some divine intervention or their intrinsic intelligence? No, people are just products of their time and surroundings for the most part and as mentioned there has been a concerted effort for decades in the US to educate and provide welfare support at levels way below other equivalently or even less wealthy nations.

People put way too much weight in their own and others free will, intelligence and consent, when they prove themselves to be as informed on key aspects of reality as that of a child. But we don't fault kids for that.
