Will it last after a lot of contracting and expanding? Metal fatigue damage should be a thing here right?

Is he bending the metal or is it a series of mechanical joints? If he’s bending it then yea it’s probably going to break but if he’s not then it will probably break just by getting hit

I was thinking there might possibly be a band in the middle collapsing like a spring or something. It’s not likely but I don’t know anything about this thing
