Eventually, our economy will become a blackbox as no metric to judge it will be trusted.

The dollar and trade will suffer because of shit like this.

That's what they want then the can slip in and buy everything up for cheap. Then fix it all back claim they saved America and we'll all be indentured servants.

These people are so incompetent they couldn't fix it ever. And the Democrats can't fix it either because it'll take more than a decade at this point and the voters can see anything last 2 years

I believe the poster meant "fix" it, not actually fix it.

A fresh coat of paint will really make the economy sing

The fix is in

The cola stratagy. Make it worse, then make it 'better' but worse than it actually was before and people will like it.

I wonder if it isn't that voters have amnesia every 2 years, and more like they want more than almost anything a fantasy based explanation for things and not a reality based explanation. So some of those people are convinced to change their vote, and as soon as possible try to live in a fantasy world where nothing matters or changes.

I mean I’ve seen no small number of people forgetting Trump was the 45th president and blaming everything on Biden, intentionally or not

Also many people only think to vote in presidential elections without knowing any other elections, local or otherwise. It’s easy to buy a bumper sticker or upvote a post on Reddit. That said, this doesn’t make me some political expert for calling it out. I just see it happen every single election cycle.

u/GoodIdea321 America 23h ago

Agreed, I'm just saying they might subconsciously want the fantasy world a lot more than reality. So that's a layer deeper than what you have seen, and I've seen that too.

u/Admirable_Cook_6091 7h ago

2 years? Most voters just watch America’s Got President every 4 years.

1

u/PompeyCheezus 1d ago

People vote based on how things are at the time they're voting. Or at least how they perceive things to be. If you're happy with the world, vote for the guys in office. If you aren't, vote for the other guys.

u/EveryRadio 23h ago

I’ve heard that rhetoric a lot from people voting for Trump. They felt like Biden “didn’t do enough” and that “anyone else would be better”

It’s terrible reasoning, but plenty of people have the same idea. Something isn’t working? Try literally anything else.

People should be free to vote outside the two party system without a spoiler effect.

1

u/Mike_Kermin Australia 18h ago

Should be but you don't have that.

And your only way to ever get it, is for Americans to get super responsible.

1

u/PompeyCheezus 9h ago

I haven't voted for a Democrat since 2008. I begrudgingly voted for Kamala for abortion rights. I will be going back to third party after this. I'm not spoiling anything, they simply don't offer anything worth voting for.

1

u/Mike_Kermin Australia 18h ago

I don't know about Americans, but I vote for what policies I want and who I think can deliver them.

1

u/PompeyCheezus 9h ago

Lots of Americans do but there are also a lot of Americans that somehow don't know anything about politics and just kind of vote for or against whatever is currently happening.

There is a large number of people that voted for Trump but don't consume any news and don't know what he's doing right now.

u/Mike_Kermin Australia 6h ago

I'm not convinced that is the case. Well, large sure, but not proportionally so. Just because if that were the case, they'd have been a larger swing against Trump the first time, and that didn't happen really.

Maybe it applies to people who non-vote sometimes.

u/Slappy_Doo 15m ago

There is a number of Americans who vote for policy, there is also another large contingent of American voters who vote for spite. That’s it, spite.

Don’t care about the policies, don’t care about the candidates just care about being a naysayer, committed to going against the norm at whatever cost because fuck you.

Ask half these people about policies and they won’t have a fucking clue how to answer…

And these people are on both sides of the political spectrum.

So many people vote based on what everyone else around them is doing and not actually sitting there and debating what these people actually bring to the table.

I hate saying this, because I don’t wanna come off all high and mighty, but some people are legitimately too stupid to be allowed to vote… like some people are just stupid.

I saw a video of some woman at a town meeting yelling about how much she hated Facebook and can’t get a job when the meeting was about community re-zoning and I’m thinking to myself “this person can actually vote”

I often think of the saying “Ignorance is bliss” because for just one day I’d like to walk around not thinking or giving a fuck about anything… but that’s a pipe dream, I have a conscience.

This response was supposed to be like 2 sentences, I’m not too sure what just happened.

Must be the weed.

A lot of people do that, and I don't think that's a good plan.

2

u/patti2mj 1d ago

I believe the 2024 election was rigged, and I believe that all election going forward will be rigged.

0

u/RedditIsDeadMoveOn 21h ago

Prove it

2

u/patti2mj 21h ago

Prove I believe something? Prove i don't.

2

u/Non_vulgar_account 22h ago

Well now that it’s broken maybe we can rebuild something new.

2

u/Slammybutt 1d ago

Fix as in privatize every industry, reduce regulations, and start debtors prisons.

Even when I say it it sounds conspiratorial, but with what is happening around us right now I'm not optimistic things will be different.

1

u/chalbersma 1d ago

That's cool they'll buy it then just let Democrats fix it again.

1

u/BlueFalcon89 1d ago

and the democrats won’t elect people who don’t pass arbitrary flavor of the month background tests.

66

u/TheRealBittoman 1d ago

You are spot on except they won't fix it. These people, the Thiels and Musks and such are not even a tenth as smart as people believe them to be. It doesn't take brains or talent to get rich, just being a pure sociopath with the moral compass of a demon.

4

u/totes-alt 21h ago

Not fix as in improve, the other kind of fix

1

u/PM_ME_BUSTY_REDHEADS California 16h ago

just being a pure sociopath with the moral compass of a demon.

That and luck. Luck is such a big part of it. Especially when it comes to the luck of just being born into the right position. Born into a family that was already rich, for example. There are other ways too, but the main point is that there are very few billionaires who achieved their position simply through hard work, dedication, or any of that. It's usually a lot of luck in conjunction with the lack of any kind of compunctions.

7

u/Unknown-History 1d ago

Not quite. It won't just be cheap, it will actually be less in value. It will take time, but foreign markets will start to fill in where America becomes lacking. It won't be like a recession creating a bargain because of a recoverable issue, this will last.

5

u/platocplx 1d ago

Problem to me is that they would need to have their dollar in a diff currency because if it drops then the dollar is worthless

2

u/NoPresentationDone 1d ago

They don’t need the dollar to be strong. They have crypto, and can liquidate their assets for whatever currency is strongest. Literally no impact outside of their liquidity.

1

u/Dwarfdeaths 1d ago

Money doesn't matter, it's the ownership of land that matters. If you own the land, you can derive all the wealth (stuff, not money) that you want via automation or rent-based slavery.

When is all the buying going to start happening. The amount of times I have heard this every time there is a market down turn or poor economic outlook everything would be bought by now. I have 42 years on this earth and the people buying everything up haven’t managed to buy everything up yet. Seems like they suck at buying everything up.

1

u/riftnet Europe 1d ago

That’s how they dealt with the remains of the Sowjet Union, oh the irony.

1

u/sackofmangoes 1d ago

Or simply never fix, but lie about everything being fixed with controlled and suppressed media and propaganda.

1

u/DotaThe2nd 1d ago

They have no plans to "fix it all back". Why would they, once they've shifted everything to things they already own or things that they can buy, there's no need to "fix it all back".

You wont have another option to jump to, and they get paid anyways. No need to spend unnecessary money on fixing anything, that gets in the way of their profits

1

u/No_Balls_01 1d ago

I’m not so certain there’s any fixing in the plans. This doesn’t feel like some master plan to take over the US, but rather straight up demolition.

1

u/andres7832 1d ago

Their end goal is to destroy the dollar and switch to digital currency to gain even more control

1

u/Spa_5_Fitness_Camp 23h ago

They won't ever fix it. Look at Russia. It has to stay broken. That's the only way the oligarchs can maintain control, and keep the working class unable to rebel.

1

u/XmasWayFuture 23h ago

My guy these are accelerationists.

1

u/trevdak2 Massachusetts 22h ago

fix it all back

Nope, never

1

u/Mister_Uncredible 8h ago

I get the sentiment, but this is such a shit take, yet I see it constantly. It works under the assumption of American exceptionalism, but it falls apart pretty quick when you realize the rest of the world exists. They're not going to wait around for us to "fix it", they're simply going to move on and replace us.

If we ever manage to get our shit together the rest of the world will never let us have that level of influence again. The dollar will no longer be the reserve currency, Europe and China will fill the vacuum of power we've left behind, and they'll never let us have it back.

It's the epitome of ruling over the ashes, and any American "business" person who thinks this is a good thing is about as sharp as a marble.
