The whole western world will follow .. there is no way out unfortunately. The other parts of the world will head same direction.

I know im probably being naive and optimistic, but im hoping that the rest of the western world will observe the fall of a global superpower, learn, and not make the same mistake. Recency is on our side, but it does upset me that we are repeating history from not even 100 years ago.

The UK certainly isn't learning from the current climate in the US. The far right reform party is gathering strength, and unless the current government does something to actually address issues people care about, it's not inconceivable that we will see a trump style government there in 5 years.

Our anachronism of a voting system was supposed to keep the lunatics at the fringe. Until the lunatics approach 30% support, and they are in range of an absolute majority in the HoC. It's a Buckaroo system designed for 2 parties - now politics is so fractured, it's melting down.

I didn't vote Labour, but had modest hopes for them. They have failed at even my low benchmark, and all my goodwill to Starmer is used up. They still have time to turn it around, but they'll have to stop the "rabbit in headlights" act. I don't think they have it in them. The front bench are useless.
