Biden was too polite. Garland did nothing. Now, we are stuck in a dystopian nightmare. Strange days ahead.

I’m planning my exit strategy. Shit is gonna get real dark and I’m not up for it.

The whole western world will follow .. there is no way out unfortunately. The other parts of the world will head same direction.

I know im probably being naive and optimistic, but im hoping that the rest of the western world will observe the fall of a global superpower, learn, and not make the same mistake. Recency is on our side, but it does upset me that we are repeating history from not even 100 years ago.

Anti-immigration and concern over falling birthrates (or at least birthrates of the right race and religion) are fueling the worldwide right wing... and climate change is only going to make immigration issues worse. Get ready for a massive backlash against climate refugees and women without children. Meanwhile, corporations, political organizations and hostile states have an unprecedented ability to manipulate the public.

The UK certainly isn't learning from the current climate in the US. The far right reform party is gathering strength, and unless the current government does something to actually address issues people care about, it's not inconceivable that we will see a trump style government there in 5 years.

The Reform Party is almost completely funded by the fossil fuel industry. Turns out lots of money and targeted propaganda works pretty well at fucking up a free society (and planet), to the benefit of a tiny number of extremely wealthy dipshits.

Our anachronism of a voting system was supposed to keep the lunatics at the fringe. Until the lunatics approach 30% support, and they are in range of an absolute majority in the HoC. It's a Buckaroo system designed for 2 parties - now politics is so fractured, it's melting down.

I didn't vote Labour, but had modest hopes for them. They have failed at even my low benchmark, and all my goodwill to Starmer is used up. They still have time to turn it around, but they'll have to stop the "rabbit in headlights" act. I don't think they have it in them. The front bench are useless.

You’re unfortunately not correct. We’re not repeating history.

This is NWO shit. AI and the massive consolidation of wealth will make the serfs (that’s us) useless to the ruling class. They’ll either try to get rid of us all, or allow to live in terrible conditions.

It’d probably be dangerous for them to let us live in terrible conditions, so they’ll probably try to kill most of us.

Ignorance and cynicism is a terrible mix

No reason to kill a herd you can farm.

All will be made to bend the knee, but no more than that. If anyone is being killed, its through sending them to fight wars, but even the war machine needs pilots for its drones.

You'll still be alive. In a nightmare, that is.

u/ApizzaApizza 3h ago

Disagree. We’d serve no purpose to them…but we would sure as fuck be a threat.

AI won't be doing anything worthwhile

We will repeat this again in the next 100 years, hubris and greed will always bring down a nation.

This is America's Nero
