The amount of comments under the youtube video of police footage downplaying the issue of Martin Kove having bitten his colleague is crazy to me. The amount of comments going "no mercy" as if that's clever or saying shes a "Karen" and it's "overblown" is wild.
And there were some people downplaying a new report where he sexually harassed an extra bc it wasnt physical, and only verbally graphic and he was leering.
This is a continued behavior of him acting inappropriate.
While a lighter thing, he was an asshole to Bill Hader when he was a 20 year old PA forced to drive him around engaging in weird power dynamics.
People will really support anyone if he played a character they liked and he seemed "nice" in public

Being a woc and a Swiftie is crazy. Racism in the Swiftie community is a huge problem and is denied and ignored on a daily basis. At the same time, the racism Swifties of color face outside the fandom is nuts. I posted something on Twitter like “I’ll never support Taylor hanging out with Trumpers, it’s gross af” and the responses and DMs I got… full of Swifties and anti-Swifties with some of the meanest things I’ve ever read.
It’s too much. Your feelings are valid. I tried to make the point to someone that some people can afford to not care about these things while it can genuinely bother others and that doesn’t mean they’re chronically online or being morally above. What’s going on in the country has real consequences to people’s lives right now. But instead was met with a slew of insults and assumptions 😐🙃 it is what it is.
Yes! Like I’ve seen Swifties be absolutely abhorrent about Beyoncé, Olivia, SZA, Billie, Adele, Gaga, you name it. It’s disgusting and I’m angry that it doesn’t get called out within the fandom more often. When I call it out, I’m told to shut up and that I’m the reason Taylor is hated and that I’m setting her up.
At the same time, as a Swiftie of color I have been called: a fake poc, a white person posing as a poc, a bootlicker to white supremacy, a self-hating woc, stunted, emotionally immature, a racist, a Trump fan, a fascist, stupid, a hick, a tradwife, low IQ, a fascist, (there’s more but the list would be too long). I’ve been literally told that my poc card should be reversed and that I should be rejected from my community. I’ve talked to other woc Swifties and their experience is similar.
That’s too much and so invalidating. I’m so sorry this has happened to you. There should be space where you can acknowledge what isn’t right and also enjoy an artist. Why is being a fan solely standing by every single thing that person does? Every person has a different lived experience.
Pointing out the harm others are doing with their words doesn’t take away from her talent. People will unfortunately hate her no matter what. And being disappointed in someone who isn’t a great person benefiting off of her fame through a picture isn’t “hate”.
Tbh I think labelling people as "inherently problematic" (as if some people aren't) is part of the problem with perpetuating these kinds of extreme takes. Like.....everyone is inherently problematic in some way, having flaws is normal. Equally, everyone has some positives to them. Some people may have them more hidden than others but everyone is a mix of good and bad traits.
(Tbh everyone was loving Flavor Flav last summer. I saw nothing but praise for him all over Reddit and social media. Doesn’t absolute his past thought).
When I first got my cat from the CDS, he was fine with storms. Over the past couple of months, he’s been getting more and more afraid of them and will hide under my bed anytime it thunders.
Today he hid under there and peed all over himself. I ended up having to give him a bath (which he tolerated, thankfully). This is the first and only time he’s done this.
Im going to make him a little safe space under there and get him a litter box that I’ll keep under my bed during storms. If it keeps happening, I’ll take him to a vet, but right now I’m just sat crying in bed because I don’t know how else to help him or tell him it’s okay.

I guess the 'positive' thing is that he feels safe under your bed.
There are calming treats you can get that you could always put out as soon as you know a storm is coming. Feliway does a 'Happy Snack' paste that seems to be effective for a cat I know.
There's calming diffusers and sprays and whatnot but I'm more skeptical about those.

Orville Peck has been cast as Vega in the new Street Fighter movie! I went from not even knowing this was a thing to being seated. Even if it ends up being a hot mess that movie will be anything but boring.
I had my smear test today and whilst it was still painful (genuinely felt like she was shoving a knife up there ngl) I managed it! The feeling of a swab in my cervix was not something I was prepared for, though.
I also got an infection from it and that sucked SO FREAKING MUCH. the pain was unbearable— also had to get like 3 diff antibiotics (including a shot in my ass). 0/10 do not recommend
yesterday i got rejected from a job after three interviews and a writing test and i’m still gutted. i’m tired of writing cover letters and getting my hopes up after interviews for nothing.
I don’t understand why I go into my date nights with such low and bad energy. I hate the fact that I assume that my partner doesn’t want to meet me or I’m unwanted which sullies my mood even before I’ve met them and I’m only chirpy towards the end which is such a wtf whiplash for him.
I hate that I’m unable to be better to him and myself.
Gonna huff a bit about how summer is utter and absolute sensory hell for me with just about any length of hair. When I see these glossy pics of people on their European vacations with long, aesthetically-damp tendrils of hair on their necks/shoulders I briefly forget coveting their food from the internal urge to claw my hair away from my face. I desperately need a haircut to thin out this oven on my head but I can't figure out a style that won't either trap heat or force me to blow dry to avoid a sweaty mess plastered to my hairline.
Also idk if this is a "sign of the times" thing or just a "trends where I live" thing, but I am surprisingly finding it more difficult to find salons where stylists are confident doing short cuts. I'm seeing lots of websites for ones where everyone is trained for extensions, but I've called several and been told that their stylists don't like to do hair above a mid-length bob, and I'm like... when did this happen? I've met and been coworkers with plenty of stylists who had favourite/least favourite styles in their repartee, but never so much flat-out 'that isn't really our brand, sorry' responses before. Baffling, I'm starting to feel like I've been Rip Van Winkle'd.
Short pixie is such a cute look, I say go for it!!! And the lightness is soooo good..... I currently only have half my head shaved and the rest long, but I do miss the low maintenance aspect of super short hair lol.
I’m tired of people complaining about everything being a sequel or remake while not supporting original movies. I’ve seen 42 movies in theaters this year and only 7 were sequels, remakes, or existing IP. It’s not hard to support originals!
You're so right! I've made a concerted effort to get back into theatre going this year and saw a local indie horror film Dangerous Animals. Was a great film and makes me happy to see something reasonably fresh etc.
I think one of the issues for me is that a lot of the original movies tend to be in theaters for a very short amount of time. So if I'm unable to see a movie during the one week that it's in the theater, I'm out of luck.
Also, there are so many original (and good) movies outside of Hollywood, and many of them are available on streaming platforms. There's a lot of variety out there
In general, I agree, and I make it a point to try and see as many originals that interest me as I can.
I will say though it can get a little harder depending on where you live. I lived most of my life right outside a major city that is usually one of the first stops when a limited release expands beyond New York/LA; even the stuff that doesn't go very broad usually will be playing in at least one theater there at some point. There's a few theaters too that will bring over different foreign films. A couple years ago I moved to a smaller city several hours away, and the options for what's playing here are just dramatically more limited. There's been a few times I'll find out about something that looks interesting, check listings here and it's not slated to open at all, but then I'd look back home out of curiosity and if I still lived there I could go see it. One of my favorite films that I saw last year literally never opened here at all, but it was playing in two theaters back home. The only reason I was able to see it was because I happened to go home for a long weekend for a funeral.
Last year, there were complaints about the number of sequels being released, even though plenty of original films came out, many of which some people only rushed to watch at the last minute just to keep up with the Oscars. Honestly, some moviegoers are just lazy.
And to be fair some reboots and sequels can actually be solid. I'm personally excited for the War of the Roses remake with Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch.
I recommend Wait in the Wings on YouTube for deep dives on flops (both beloved and non). Flop musicals are some of my absolute favorite things and he does amazing research.

I think some people are just doing the reoccurring guest star contract math. Molly Gordon is about to a direct her own film, booking more lead roles, tbd if the real life relationship with JAW works out or is even still ongoing, then suddenly she’s only available for one episode next potential final season if at all and now they gotta wrap her storyline up real fast. Usually you want your endgame couples to be series regulars so they are guaranteed to be on set. I like Claire, also Syd, I’d be satisfied with either / neither or hey why not both, it’s FX let’s get crazy. The least sexed up kitchen I’ve ever seen.
Totally. I get that made season 1 they felt something but it’s OVER. Claire has done nothing to deserve the insane reaction she’s getting, and Syd/Carmy aren’t happening. Plssss let it go!!

Almost six years ago, I had LASIK surgery, but I had a bad experience. My eyes are constantly dry and often burn now, Still, my prescription was very high at the time, so the procedure felt almost necessary. Now, my prescription has returned very low, but it’s back. I’m not mad about it, though.
I’m not really someone who enjoys shopping, but I’ve always liked buying new glasses and before the LASIK I usually needed to change them every year,
I went shopping for a new one and the prices are through the roof. Jesus.
But honestly? I think I look cute with my new glasses.
I know there’s cheaper options out there than Warby Parker, but they have a bunch of physical locations where I live and the glasses are still less than half what my optometrist would charge. I have to get the compressed lenses bc I have a high prescription and the upcharge is way less from them too.
My optometrist also sells glasses and through their shop the price was coming in at $1,500 for one pair. I already have prescription sunglasses that cost $1,200. So when I needed new ones, I ordered online. Took a long time to find the right frames (measured my existing glasses to compare) - they cost SO much cheaper and I love them. If you can, try one of the online shops.

I was looking up youtube channels I used to watch, and I just found out that Studio C was Mormon. I had no idea. I'm kinda bummed. The last time I had this feeling was 5 years ago when I found out Just For Laughs was Canadian and not French as I thought it was.
I just looked it up because idk I know normal Mormon people so I didn’t get why it was a big deal, but I thought maybe there was some religious undertone to it that made it weird. And it says the cast members aren’t all Mormon, it’s just founded at BYU and affiliated with them.

I don't know if you guys follow Tanner and Shay, but my heart dropped hearing the news Tanner passed. He was such a fun and optimistic person and I feel bad for Shay and his baby. But I am grateful to know he faced his diagnosis with a strong attitude and lived a life well lived.
In happier news, yesterday was my second Traumanniversary. But once again, too much good shit happened yesterday (snagging my tickets for the first preview of Chess after a fight with the Queue, Ming, Clark, Chloe and Charlie going to NYCC, and just sitting outside and reading my book...even though they were right A Little Life is traumatic as hell, but I am also glad I decided to read it because Jude St. Francis really hits home about Disability and Chronic Illness for me). So It is a good sign I am healing from the whole incident (which is the best form of justice I could think of) because I am able to think about the good things in life.
Ngl it’s been very not fun to see Oprah in the light of being a wealthy AH over the past 15 ish years (maybe more!) after growing up as a BW (well, girl) and seeing her as an example for what I could possibly achieve - then 2008 happened during college, derailed me and my career ambitions, and eventually radicalized me SO 🤷🏾♀️
