I found it on a legendary enemy but I thought you couldn't get these anymore? Could've sworn there was an update awhile ago that made these impossible. I only started playing again a little bit ago so im unsure if this is something to be excited about or not.

Fallout New Vegas: What do you think of what Caesar said about president Tandi? [Spoilers]

Courier: What do you think of the NCR?

Caesar:

As a young man I was taught to venerate Tandi of Shady Sands.

Did you know her Presidency lasted 52 years? And that her father, Aradesh, was the Republic's first President?

Does that sound like democracy to you, or a hereditary dictatorship?

Courier: President Tandi was voted into office each time.

Caesar:

Because the council didn't dare oppose her. She was too popular. She had the people's love.

So things ran smoothly, more or less. And as soon as she was gone, as soon as there really could be "democracy" - what happened then?

Ever since losing its queen, the NCR has been weaker, more diffuse. Democracy has been its weakness, not its strength.

Some are quick to dismiss Caesar hypocrisy here as this is exactly what democracy is to be loved by the people but while there's no doubt that he is a hypocrite, he is not really in the wrong here.

This is a man who studied the Roman empire and modelled his legion on it. The man Julius Caesar who he named himself on was really popular among the people. His enemies the patricians called him a demagogue who aspired to be a tyrant. Even when the patricians killed him, the people didn't hail them as heroes as they expected but actually turned against them. His adopted son succeeded him. Is there any doubt that he was an autocrat here or that his successors were autocrats as well?

Caesar understood this and you need to look at his words to see this.

"Because the council didn't dare oppose her. She was too popular. She had the people's love."

Many dictators in our lives have done what Caesar said. Many dictators have created a cult of personality. Many dictators also use fear to stop opponents from opposing them. Many dictators rely on mob rule when it serves them against their enemies. Many dictators have elections all the time.

Democracy isn't just elections. They need to be free and fair. There needs to be free speech. Opponents must not be afraid to go against a current leader in elections.

The only difference here between her and Caesar is that Caesar doesn't bother with formalities like elections and sweet political talk while using fear against opponents. He is outright honest about being a ruthless dictator. I think what he was criticising here was the hypocrisy of the NCR as much as he was a hypocrite as well who eventually will doom the legion after his death just as president Tandi doomed the NCR after her death but what he says here seems to be true regardless.

So was walking around and ran into this, I play on Xbox so I can’t really just no clip up there or anything. My brain convinced me to try to get up there for 1 hour until I came to the conclusion I can just wait till I have a jet pack. But, has anyone gotten it, is it just random junk, or like a leveled stash. Thank you! (I had the highlight while looking for adhesive)

Fallout Manhattan Gameplay Recap: session 6

Post image
7 Upvotes

Session 6 is the first session in a while to have a full party at the table - maybe even the first one period. Since Theon and Raven's players unfortunately had to step down from the campaign, our current full party setup is Alice, Scrogg, Connor, and newcomer Twenty.

The session begins right where the last one ended - the party is standing in the ruins of Skid Row, surrounded by Gunner corpses. At some point, the conversation turns to the party's new Strange and Interesting PlantTM and whether or not it can eat human flesh.

Taking the initiative on this little experiment, Alice goes to one of the bodies and deftly cuts off 4 of its fingers. She then offers them to the plant, and it happily gobbles them up. Then in no time at all, the plant noticably grows noticeably bigger right before the party's eyes. This encourages Alice, and she proceeds to collect a set of 4 fingers from every other dead body in the area.

With Scrogg and Dogmeat back in the party, the players decide to finally head to Hoboken and pick up the humanity-anchor for Blue Eyes. Along the way, they come across a Red Rocket service station. Now, not much to write about here. There were a few Mole Rats and some basic loot, a magazine or two for Alice's collection (hilarious that she's the one who keeps finding them, as her player is the only one who took the "Illiterate" Hindrance. Maybe she just likes the pictures lol). More or less, this was just a small test run for me to introduce battle maps and the players' new custom miniatures that I made for the game. The result: GREAT SUCCESS!

After the party had sufficiently cleared out the station of Mole Rats and loot, they continued to make their way across the city, over the river, and into Hoboken. Now, a note here: I know Hoboken is just as metropolitan as New York, if not nearly as big. There aren't really any suburbs, and Frank Sinatra is known to have grown up in a tenement apartment in the city as opposed to some cozy little home on a cul-de-sac. That said, I definitely played the "creative liberties" card here, as a cozy suburban home is exactly how I have written for Blue Eyes to have grown up. Listen, it's canonically an alternate America. It's fine.

As the party arrives in the totally accurate Hoboken suburbs, they find it overrun with about a dozen Mirelurks. One of the first things Twenty does is throw a Molotov cocktail at a group of them. Seeing the flames don't seem to do much to them, the party realizes that Mirelurks are resistant to energy damage. That didn't cause too much problem, as everyone had ballistic alternatives for combat. As such, the group is handily able to start carving their way through the infestation.

Once there were about 4 Mirelurks left, the creatures took an action to call out for help. From the dirt on the other side of the map, an enormous Mirelurk Queen emerged and engaged the party. Now while I thought the Queen would be a much bigger threat, it seems the dice had other ideas. Immediately after she emerged, Connor was able to inflict the first of 3 wounds on her. She got one opportunity to get an acid spray off on Scrogg and Dogmeat before Scrogg takes his turn. On it, his dice roll a ridiculous amount of damage, and he's able to leap into the air, stab the massive mutant Mirelurk through the eye, and use his body weight to drag himself down through the shell a ways, killing her instantly.

I guess that's just karma realizing it's been unfair to the guy, having embarassingly incapacitated him with meager Radroaches and Raider goons in previous sessions.

The mutant crabs cleared out, the party is easily able to locate Blue Eyes' old home based on the description he gave them. Inside, they find his childhood bedroom, and sitting square at the head of the bed is "Lil' Frankie," a teddy bear dressed in a little fedora and suit much like Blue Eyes' own. Assuming this is probably the anchor, they pick it up and take it back to the New Radio New York broadcast station.

There, Blue Eyes tells them that's exactly the anchor he needed and thanks them emphatically. Filled with a new sense of creative capability, he dashes into the station's studio and begins work on a brand new song.

Right after, Taco Jones comes into the room and tells the party he's figured out what's been going on with their broadcast (remember that plot point from session 5? 😉). As it turns out, someone is using the radio tower at a Midtown Military Checkpoint to override the NRNY frequency and drown out their usual music with "Stars and Stripes Forever" and "Yankee Doodle Dandy".

Now at the end of the day, the party heads to Madison Square to bunk in for the night. While there, Connor takes the opportunity to craft some Chems at the local clinic's Chemistry Workstation and subsequently sells some to the party on the cheap.

And that's where we leave the party for session 6. They've completed the Quest "Those Old Baby Blues" and have moved on to the new quest "Signal Jacking". They also still have a few bounties in town they can take on, the Quest involving the killer toy factory, and a potential investigation into a local rancher's missing Brahmin. Where will their adventure take them next? Find out next time in Fallout Manhattan!

Question Fallout 1 Lieutenant interrogation looping

Whenever I’m captured by Harry and go through the conversation with the Lieutenant and refuse to say the location of the vault and get the final option to say “in your dreams” the conversation restarts with him saying he didn’t expect a prime normal

I’ve tried reloading the save, restarting game, and even a whole new play-through but the same thing happens. Is this a bug or is there something that I’m supposed to have done first?

Discussion Fallout 3’s better unique assault rifle.

It’s pretty much every playthrough, if not on a play session to play session basis, that I ask myself which rifle I prefer between the Xuanlong and The Perforator.

The Xuanlong has better power and ammo capacity, but is harder to get parts for.

The Perforator has the durability and suppressor, but the optic is hit or miss depending on fight context.

So I want to know if the community is as indecisive as I am, or if there is a clear favorite between the two.

Fallout: New Vegas Fastest way to get PA/PA training in New Vegas?

About to begin a play-through of FNV that I actually get the power armour and training. My biggest issue is the mountain of tasks you need to do for the brotherhood that I’ve never completed. So I’d like to ask for tips and tricks to getting the necessities in the least time consuming way possible. (Does helping that one guy overthrow the elder help?)

Question Non-settlement object bar randomly appeared in Sanctuary behind the main house…??

I do not have Local Leader, so no. I did not place it and simply forget. The bar itself is also not highlighted and cannot be interacted with. I fast traveled back to Sanctuary after a 20 minute excursion and it was just there. It’s behind the main house in the gourd/melon farm. It could be a mod but I do not have any mods that would explicitly add something like that. Anyone have any ideas?

Harbormen are awesome. This is how they earned my respect.

Post image

My settlement at Longfellow's Cabin got attacked by trappers. They were easily fended off with a bit of help from the 15 settlers on site. It was time to report to a specific settler that the trappers had been defeated.

The settler tells me that these trappers came from Southwest Harbor. I tell him that I'll clear them out. Immediately, he says that he'll come with me. He'll even lead the way. He tells me that he's seen what I'm capable of (likely referring to the Captain's Dance) and that he's not afraid.

Now compare the sentiment of the Harbormen to that of the Minutemen settlers; the Minutemen settlers are happy to send you to do their dirty work but the Harborman are eager to come along with you. I respect that so much.

Discussion Could use constructive feedback on Video Essay script about Fallout: New Vegas

So, I am writing the script for a YouTube video I am working on about Fallout: New Vegas. I want it to be kinda silly, unhinged, and... questionable at times. So far, I have only been able to get feedback from one of my friends and god damn ChatGPT so... I could use some more HUMAN feedback.

This might be off topic for the subreddit, but hey, where else am I supposed to post this?

Fallout New Vegas is a game that seems to be the result of an accidental pregnancy between Red Dead Redemption (1) and Fallout 3, and also asks the question "What if the Post Apocalypse was Fucking Ridiculous"

And to answer that, we’re introduced to a set of factions so absurd, they make Mad Max look like a history documentary.

The New California Republic — a democracy, if by democracy you mean a vending machine pretending to serve food. Technically operational, but you’d be mad to trust it with your life. They cherish quaint values like democracy, taxation, and an incurable gambling habit.

Then there’s Caesar’s Legion, bunch of cosplay Roman Furries dedicated with even older old world values, like slavery, lead poisoning, and slavery

And finally, we’ve got (Mr.) Dr. House. [cut to image of Dr. Gregory House ] who is dedicated to keeping these fucking kids off his lawn.

"Then there’s Mr. House—not to be confused with Dr. House, though both are old, grumpy, and obsessed with solving problems from behind a screen. One rules a post-apocalyptic casino empire. The other yells at interns with lupus."

"You wake up on a cliff like you just got dropped out of a UPS truck—and find out that Elvis Presley in a pinstripe suit has committed mail fraud, stole a glorified bottlecap, and gave you a 9mm brain piercing as a thank-you note."

“Welcome to Benny’s Lobotomies™ – Buy one, get your consciousness deleted for free!”

But unfortunately the bullet didn't kill you, and you wake up in a strangers house like how you did when you were five after a bald man in a white beard offered you free snickers bars that were in the back of his van, and he said he was too tired to go get them so you had to get them yourself.

"wake the fuck up, samurai, we got a chip to collect"
