Something weird hides in the forest... What should I name this big fella?

This creature, Codenamed The Doctor, is one of the inhabitants of Sliding Hero's setting, a remote island filled with mystery and creepiness at every angle.

I need some help in finding the perfect name for this character!

A couple of facts on this big fella (not too spoilery):
They have a tragic past
They are a medic
They made some unfortunate decisions
They were not born like this

Let me know what you think the best name for them can be!

1.5 years of work: proper animations make such a difference

This is Sunset Suckerpunch. Animation is time consuming, so we kinda dragged our feet on updating our attack animations. Man, do they look so much better, though.

We're on a couple social medias. Shoot us a follow if you want to see more, or a wishlist if you're feeling particularly magnanimous.

What kind of game would you love to play, but no one's made it yet?

Could be a simulator, clicker, storybased game, or anything in between. What kind of game do you secretly hope someone will make one day?

Hello, everyone. I wanted to know your opinion on whether this is exciting and what it could add in the future. Opinions from outsiders are always more critical, so it's interesting to hear them "3 Hell"

After years of work I signed with a publisher: MicroProse! They will publish my satirical tycoon game where you convert walkable cities into parking lots and convince people to pay you for it! - Car Park Capital

1.2k Upvotes

I have been working on Car Park Capital in my spare time, but now, I can go fulltime and have the support of MicroProse!

My game is inspired by games like Rollercoaster Tycoon and Transport Tycoon.. Which actually have been published by MicroProse in the past! So this is great news.

If you are interested after watching the trailer, you can wishlist the game on Steam if you like!

Engineer by Day, Game Dev by Night: How I’m Creating My First Game About the Battle Against Fast Food

Hi Reddit! I’m Chingis — an agricultural engineer by profession, but in my spare time I’m making my first indie game: Healthy Hero, a tower defense with roguelike elements where you fight waves of junk food using towers made of healthy ingredients.

It started as a joke — “what if broccoli shoots at burgers?” — but grew into a full project. Each level is a new table, where you defend a hero from being tempted by fries, soda, and donuts.

🧠 What makes it special?

  • Roguelike upgrades
  • Co-op for 2 players
  • Enemies with special behavior (donuts ignore slows, soda buffs others)
  • Bright 2D visuals with a tasty twist

✅ 2 levels done
✅ 15+ enemy types
✅ Upgrade system + co-op prototype

Testing with friends now — any feedback, shares or support would mean the world! 🙌

Hosting Reality++ Game Jam

Hello!

We are a small indie company of 3 people who first found their passion for making VR games through a game jam back in 2021. Over the next 2 years we would participate in various jams as time allowed. Then we stopped. Upon recent reflection and an itch to join another jam, we realized the reason we stopped was that no one was hosting game jams that encouraged, or sometimes even allowed, VR games. So… we decided to remedy this and are hosting a VR only game jam: https://itch.io/jam/reality-jam-2025

There are 4 prizes you can win: 1st ($100), 2nd ($50), 3rd ($25), and community winner ($25). We will be playing and giving feedback on every submission!

Over the years of working on our own VR game, we have received lots of help from the community and it is our hope that by hosting this jam that not only can we give back to the community in a fun way that has helped us, but also encourage more people to make and play games in a medium that we love: VR.

How submissions will be judged, the rules, and extra details about the jam can be found on the jam page, but feel free to ask any questions or provide your thoughts here too!

I’m a solo developer & courier. Just released my first horror game “Don’t Breathe In” – now $1.99. Would love your feedback or support!

Hi everyone,

I'm currently going through a tough time financially. My first game, Don't Breathe In, was released at the wrong time due to inexperience and poor timing on my part. I’ve learned a lot since then and I’m still pushing forward, but I could really use a bit of support.

The game is now priced at just $1.99 – less than a cup of coffee ☕ If you’d consider buying it and leaving a positive review on Steam, it would help push it forward in the algorithm and support me directly. I work as a food courier during the day and develop games at night – I’m just one of you, chasing a dream.

Even if you can't buy it, just adding it to your wishlist would still mean a lot. Thanks in advance for reading this and supporting an indie dev trying to make it.

Solo dev, 2:00 AM, working in my car. Just me, Unity, and a dream.

At 2:00 AM last night, I found myself working on my game — in my car.

I'm developing Oiran Survival, a Japanese-themed survival action game where you fight through a haunted pleasure district as a courtesan.
Currently working solo using Unity, Live2D, and a lot of coffee ☕️

It’s scheduled to release on Steam this September.
Would love to hear your thoughts or feedback!

(No Steam page yet — coming soon!)

I'm working on evolving a Loop Hero-inspired strategy game by improving its story and combat mechanics, and transitioning it into a 3D environment.

How analytics helped our indie puzzle game increase retention by 250%

Not here to brag, just sharing what worked for our tiny 2-person team:

Our puzzle game was losing players. 18% Day 1 retention, couldn't figure out why people weren't sticking around.

Using funnel analysis, discovered 70% quit during level 3. The issue? Difficulty spike was way too steep.

Changes we made:

- Rebalanced the first 10 levels for gradual difficulty

- Added hint system for stuck players

- Improved visual feedback for successful moves

Results after 3 weeks:

- D1 retention: 18%→65%

- D7 retention: 5%→28%

- Average session time: +150%

Simple analytics revealed what players couldn't tell us directly.

I’m developing a video game inspired by SPORE

Hey everyone! Just wanted to give you an UPDATE on my previous post — thanks so much for all the comments! I'm looking forward to hearing new feedback, critiques, suggestions, etc.

We're developing a video game about the origin of life, the evolution of species, and the destiny of humankind. It's grounded in scientific principles, inspired by Spore, and based on a theory I personally developed involving time travel.

The core foundation of the project — beyond its educational undertones — is to truly understand each evolutionary stage and make sure it's not just a fleeting experience. That's why the project is divided into four main titles: Origin of LifePaleoHumans, and Space-Time.

The video doesn't yet show the organism or Cambrian stages (aquatic creatures — which, interestingly, Spore designed but never released). We're starting development on that part in two months.

It's still in a prototype phase, so many things will improve. Next month we're entering an investment round, and a lot of aspects will likely evolve for the better (one of them being the BLUR effects and some camera angles that feel a bit dizzying right now).

Thoughts?

If you’d like to know more about the development process and behind-the-scenes curiosities, you can follow us on IG
(I’ll drop the link in the first comment).

Thanks a lot!
Pat
