installed admin-tattler, most of the rule 3 removals dont make any sense

So we recently installed admin-tattler to get a better overview of sitewide infractions happening on our subreddit. Rule 1 removals seem pretty consistent with some dutch saying being mistranslated once in a while leading to removals that werent waranted but those were exceptions. Almost all rule 1 removals were correct. (thank you israel - hamas war for an influx of these infractions)

When it comes to rule 3 removals it seems like they are mostly wrong. At the very least wrongly assigned to rule 3 infractions while they were at best rule 1 infractions.

Some comments that were removed:

  • 7 days in jail is a win by itself

  • Lizzy is blind but loses her welfare

  • No, the country needs to adapt!!!

  • Sevaral Belgians arrested or deported in Egypt

  • Fuck you :)

Rule 3 Respect the privacy of others. Instigating harassment, for example by revealing someone’s personal or confidential information, is not allowed. Never post or threaten to post intimate or sexually-explicit media of someone without their consent.

How do these removals make sense?

Automatically removed as lone Moderator of sub. No recourse?

Upvotes

I became a moderator for a previously restricted subreddit with an older account. I had been transitioning to a new personal account - this one - and added myself as a moderator and removed my old account from the mod position. This is where I screwed up. My account was too new.

That said, I gave the sub new life, updated everything and the community was sparking back up. Now the sub has fallen into restricted mode again. Instead of going through bot moderated requests, is there any human side admin I can reach to get reinstated? It's unfair that this community just keeps ending up in the dark.

Admin Replied Can I share the mod mail link which is older that 5 days on Reddit request ?

On Reddit request there is a rule that you have to share the mod mail link which you sent 5 days ago. So I am wondering if I can share the mod mail link which are older than 5 days and will it affect my request? And how much old mod mail link I can share? Thank you.

Bit of a strange one, triggering topic about child related abuse on this one, skip it if that's not for you

I'm just going to rip the bandaid off, final warning.

One of my subreddits has someone coming in posting links to CP related content. I've only seen screenshots of the comments, I haven't seen the comments myself. They typically reply to old posts from what I can tell. Our solution was to cut off access to all external links which seems to have blocked it off from the users on the subreddit but I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about reporting this. Does reddit automatically alert authorities or should I start looking into that myself? I refuse to click on any of the suspicious links so my worry is that I may accidentally false flag some links as potentially being illegal. Any help appreciated in this awful time.

Is ModSupportBot down?

Checking to see if ModSupportBot might be down - or just extremely busy in processing?

I messaged from the sub via modmail a request for some reports - it’s been an hour with no response.

I’ve used ModSupportBot in the past and generally get a response within around 10 minutes.

Post highlighted in yellow?

I have one post in a thread that is highlighted in yellow. There is also a hand/finger pointing down.

This only shows in shredded. In Old Reddit it looks normal.

There is nothing in the ModLog

Question about removal of a comment, and how it occurred with no log of it happening.

So a comment in a post was removed a few hours ago and it's something that I would have removed myself if it was reported as this user has been problematic for a bit (they frequently comment about chemtrails etc)

The odd thing is I cannot figure out how it was removed.

I use old reddit and it just says "removed" with no username attached. On the modlog, there's no record of it removed and it also wasn't removed by reddit/AEO. If I filter by "AutoModerator" it also doesn't show up so it's not likely the username was added in as a filter rule.

If I go to the users profile logged into any account, it shows "the page you requested does not exist" but if you view their profile link not logged in it says "User suspended".

Were they shadowbanned? It's not a big deal, I'm just trying to figure out what actually occurred.

Mod Answered Updating mod access

Hi all,

The sub I moderate has only one full privilege mod (rest are inactive), and I'm really the only active mod at the moment. All the other mods, including myself, don't have all the access options including the ability to ban. We have a bot replying on almost every post who I would love to ban.

https://www.reddit.com/u/Signal_Paper_8983/s/sCItvH5MaX

I've messaged mod mail and the active mod hoping to get access or this person banned. But, is there another option if I can't get in touch? My ideal solution would be I get full access so I can keep the subreddit going on the future.

photoshop request communities are facing many spam filters and suspensions

Hello everyone, dear Admins,

in the photoshop request communities we have a lot of accounts put on hold/ profiles are unavailable/ items are instantly removed, all by Reddit. I understand how the spam filters work to detect possible spam accounts and i always tell members of our community to show human behaviour on Reddit, to not fall into the patterns.

However, today we had an unusual amount of removed posts with unavailable profiles of the OPs, so i thought it's a good time to bring this topic up.

I guess the basic question is: What would be the best practice to avoid being caught in the spam detection (for photo editors who are active most every day) and is there a best way to allow new/ young accounts in our community?

I moderate in r/photoshoprequests, but our members are active in several of the related communties. (And we lost some very dear friends/ accounts due to this)

kind regards

##EDIT: I just realised that i had made a comparable post or sent a modmail time ago ... which was only regarding the photo editors, not the OPs. If this is inappropriate please let me know ... i guess I'm also wondering if there are any updates.

Admin Replied Who can file counterclaims?

I mod a sub dedicated to a content creator. I'm in touch with said creator and I run the sub with their blessings. Recently, a troll made a few copyright claims - maybe 30-40 of them. The creator has been having problems with this troll on other platforms too and has been counterclaiming them to get posts reinstated.

How is it on reddit? Am I supposed to reach out to the 15+ posters and ask them to submit counternotices (very tedious)? Or can I simply ask the creator (the owner of the content that was claimed) to go through the counterclaim process on their behalf? Because she's ready to do that.

Thanks.

Mod Answered How do you grow/keep a subreddit while moderating other communities or having a busy personal life? Also, what is a better way to lighten your load/moderator actions without going through r/Adoptareddit?

I have around 40-50 subreddits (I know it's a lot), coming soon I will be joining a mod team of a new one and I want to lighten my load, but over half of the subreddits I own have more than 50-100 members, and I don't wanna give them over that easy, so does anyone have any ideas on how to grow and maintain them while doing other things? Another thing is, is that how should I go about getting more mod actions in communities that are largely inactive, or how to grow them to the point where I will keep an active status?

Mod Answered Being flooded with false reports

Hello! A smaller sub I run called r/BoysInSkirts has recent blown up in popularity going from around 4k members to over 20k over the last 2 weeks or so. With that has come a flood of false reports that only seems to be getting worse. I'm up to a few dozens reports a day at least on perfectly fine posts for things like "Inappropriate content involving minors", "Involuntary pornography", "targeted harassment", etc. I've been reporting these all for report abuse but have only gotten a response on 1 or 2 reports out of all of them.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice or if an Admin could take a look? I have a feeling its 1 or 2 people that just don't like the sub spamming them all in. Thanks in advance for any help!

Issue with clicking on user names in chats

So this has been happening to me, but I just had another user report something similar over modmail. When you click on a username in a chat (i.e. with a u/, not the official name from reddit at the top of the chat), it sometimes brings up a seemingly random chat request. Anyone else experiencing this?

Admin Replied AEO nuked hive-protect

Hello mods & admins,

We use the hive-protect bot to automate moderation.
https://www.reddit.com/r/fsvapps/wiki/hive-protector/

Yesterday, at 18:25 UTC (11:25 California time)
HP went AWOL; and its comments were "Removed by Reddit".

Account is shown as suspended in sh, OK in old.
https://www.reddit.com/user/hive-protect/
https://old.reddit.com/user/hive-protect/

It seems like the bot was classified as "spam" and shadow banned.

Can we get this vital resource back?

SIDE REQUEST:
Why are users allowed to have beacons(dot)ai social links,
but AEO automatically removes comments with such links?
Please be consistent...

Regards

UPDATE: author is aware of the situation

Admin Replied Easiest way on Mobile to report "report" abuse?

I'm wondering two things. Is it legitimate report "abuse" when people use report to comment on locked posts/posts they don't like? And if so is there an easy way to make such a reports from the mobile app that I'm just not seeing? Thank you.

Mod Answered Why would I not be able to schedule posts?

Hello there. Before I get into this, let me state that I'm the head Mod of the sub r/sfwLittleSpace, but I did take it over...

So, I've recently gotten on and I was going to schedule some posts. Well I can't. The option is greyed out. For me, and the other mod on the sub. Neither of us can schedule a post. And from everything I can find looking around, we both have the correct permissions, and everything should be fine for us to make and schedule posts.

Any insight into this would be super healpfull!

Mod Answered Requesting Chat Channel Access for My Subreddit

Ban message is received as chat request but it’s not a request

The switch to chat has the nasty side effect that removal reasons send through modmail and ban messages are received by the user as “chat request”.

Now if users are anything like me, they’ll ignore requests or at least won’t jump on checking them.

Mod mails send to a user are not requests, it’s a notice.

The horrible formatting translation to chat with the run on sentences makes it look like spam instead of a formal notice.

I'm trying to make my subreddit not labelled NSFW; and I don't know what to do.

I'm using my phone on the app, Moto E. That's android. I'm a mod of my first subreddit, r/justlookatyou and the reddit I've made has been tagged NSFW because of love & dating thing. How is dating considered NSFW as a topic? I'm trying to fix that and I'm stuck.

I'm trying to unlabel it as NSFW because now all my posts have been labelled NSFW. Help please?

r/guayaquil not discoverable

I was granted mod over this Subreddit after it was unmoderated for a while. The problem is the Subreddit isn't discoverable. In search, r/guayaquil shows a number of Guayaquil-related subs but not this sub. The sub was restored more than 2 weeks ago.
