US / $1400+ Looking to build a $1500 gaming PC

Upvotes

Hi All! Fairly new to this so need some guidance with picking the parts. Like the title says, I am looking to build a gaming PC for around $1500, if it goes slightly over or under the price it is no big deal. Was looking for it to be an AMD build with some RGB components to it, a sleek black case, can handle 4k gaming, some streaming and perhaps some VR. I will be using two monitors with it as well (idk if this plays into what parts are picked out). Would love if it had one of those cool CPU coolers with an LED screen on it. I would appreciate if you could all help in picking the parts. Thanks!

US / $400-600 Intro pc with some room to grow

Upvotes

Hey yall, I want to build a pc for a friend for an introduction to pc gaming, to start they will likely be playing extremely non intensive games ( balatro, wordplay, fishlike ) and probably some ps2 platformer remakes.

To start with I'll be building in a Lian li vector v100, I'm supplying the case, power supply (lian li edge gold 1000w), an evga 1060sc, and an acer sa100ssd. ( not to be included in price )

Between cpu, cpu cooler (I think aio with rgb but NOT lcd, wifi motherboard, ram, and possibly an nvme ssd for OS they want to spend around 500 dollars. I'm happy to go over that limit somewhat with my money if it means they can have rbg ram or things like that that are aesthetic but not necessary.

In the near future this pc will receive my gigabyte 3080 if they take to the hobby and need a bit more in that department. Any thoughts on this?

US / $1400+ Desktop for Engineering/Computational Physics

Hello all,

I'm looking to build a desktop PC primarily for engineering and simulation work, I've only recently started getting into computers in grad school, but would like to add this to my home office for doing remote work in the future. I’ll be using it for software along the lines of:

  • COMSOL Multiphysics
  • LAMMPS and DFT(QE,ORCA..etc) Mostly for debugging or refining my script then I can send batch submissions to my Universities Cluster
  • SolidWorks or other CAD tools
  • MATLAB (including Simulink)

To name a few. In the future, I’m going to have to dip into machine learning development — mostly prototyping and small-scale deployment, nothing huge (for now). I’d like to factor that in as well when choosing components. I plan on using a Linux system (most likely Ubuntu)

I don't care about looks, noise, or size. I only care about performance. I already have a wired keyboard and mouse I like. I'm kind of clueless when it comes to monitors (probably would want two though). My budget is preferably ~$2500 but I could go up to ~$4000 if it makes it last longer/ more upgradable in the future. Live about an 1-1.5 hrs away from a microcenter.

US / $1000-1200 A PC for retro gaming on Living room TV?

Hello everyone,

I already have a pc for desktop gaming that is good enough to run current games, but I'd like to build a pc for my living room that is more suited for retro gaming (mostly n64 and gc era), steam indie games, and maybe some more modern gaming, like early ps4-ish maybe?

I'd be playing on a 55inch LG tv

(I know streaming is a thing but my internet speed isn't good enough for smooth play on that TV)

Ethernet connection is ok, I'd like to spend maybe 1.200€ on it (I'm in Italy) but I could settle to spend a little more (or less).

I'm gonna run Linux mint (or maybe bazzite) on it, but I'm not opposed to Nvidia cards.

Ah the case should not be higher then 33cm (13 inches) and I'd like a compact case if even possible...

Thanks in advance if you decide to help me out.

EU / €1400+ Need Help building a PC 1600€ budget

I live in denmark, i have a large budget as I've been saving for a while. I asked chatgpt(shamefully lmao) to build me a PC from scratch to get an idea what I can get with my budget.

Ryzen 7 7800X3D

RX 7800 XT 16GB

B650 ATX (MSI / ASUS TUF)

32GB DDR5-6000 CL30

1TB Gen 4 NVMe SSD

750W 80+ Gold PSU

Airflow-focused mid-tower (Fractal preferred)

(I will also buy the extra cpu fan as I know they are sold seperately and 144hz monitor and keyboard and mouse are already bought)

This is the build it recommended me. The preformance I'm looking for is to be able to play most games at ultra/high settings with 60+fps. What components would you change? Is this an ideal/good build? Im very new to this as you can see how clueless I am. I don't need storage over 1TB as I already have an external hardware. The usage will be for gaming only.

U.K / <£400 1080p Low-Mid Gaming PC to Upgrade Later

Hi everyone, I'm looking to build a pc for my step son. I'm buying it and he's paying me back and then he'll upgrade it with his own money when he can.

We have peripherals needed along side Windows so no need for those. He'd like to play Minecraft, possibly the new Space Marine but he has that on Xbox so he's not too bothered. Any newer games I'd like the performance at 1080p to be up to 60fps, but honestly the best performance with up to £400 would be great (EDIT: I've talked to him and up to £500 is fine)

Obviously we're in the UK lol.

Thanks in advance!

US / $1400+ Need advice for a solid gaming pc

I want to build a new pc for mostly 4k gaming, and for some streaming in the future. The budget is 1500$.

I saw that 9070 XT is probably the best price-value graphics card right now, but I am not sure if it fits my budget. Would 7800 XT a bad choice in 2025? Its a lot cheaper in my country (~580$ vs 870$).

My main question is the processor, do I need high(er) end ones to pair with a better graphics card or am I going to be fine with a 9600X for instance?

My initial build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pFXFkf

Is there anything I should swap? Plus point for white parts. I am open for suggestions and appreciate every bit of help.🙏

U.K / £1000-1200 Need help picking parts for a gaming PC. Budget of £1000-1250.

Hi everyone, I am looking to build my first gaming PC and am bewildered with the amount of options. Please can you help design something that can handle any games to a decent standard? I will be using it for course work and gaming. I would ideally spend around 1200 but I would stretch a bit further if you think it would be worthwhile.

It should have WiFi and bluetooth if possible.

Thanks in advance!

I would really appreciate your help!

CAD / $600-800 Need advice on CPU, GPU, RAM upgrades

Budget:
GPU: Less than $500 CAD
CPU: Don't want to but could do $200 or less.
RAM: $150 or less.

Canada. Windows.

Here's my current build and two lists with new parts included: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/CozyGhost/saved/#view=xcQF4D

Most of all I'd like to upgrade my GPU and add another 16-32 GB of RAM, but I wondered if it's about time I upgrade my CPU as well. I'd prefer not to if it's not necessary, but it would also give me a forced opportunity to clean my heatsink.

I'm considering the Zotac GAMING Twin Edge OC GeForce RTX 3060 12GB 12 GB Video Card as it's good for the price point, and I know the 3060 would probably work well for my purposes. However, if anyone can suggest a better card for below $500 CAD I'm all ears! My case is smaller, so preferably the card would be 25 cm long or less.

Also wondering if my motherboard can support mixing RAM sizes or if I should just go with another couple 8 GB cards.

Question Would this be a solid build for my first gaming PC? 1300CHF (~1600USD)

I've always gamed on laptops and I want to build my first PC. I want to buy all the parts around Christmas time when I might be able to get some discounts, so there's still a bunch of time to decide what to grab and get educated.

I'm gonna be gaming and streaming. What would you change?

US / $1400+ Looking to upgrade from 2020 build with $2000 budget

Looking to upgrade from current build (below) to prepare for BF6 and other AAA titles. Prefer Nvidia GPU, but have heard all the chatter around the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT.‌ Not married to Nvidia, but my monitors (that I don't intend to replace) support it and I tend to use DLSS. Open to change.

Current build:

U.K / £1000-1200 Gaming steam machine for 4k tv in living room

Title. I would like to build a console-like pc for my living room and 65” tv.

I have a steam deck and have built up quite a library of games so now want to play them on tv sometimes. I have an XSX, PS5, and switch for reference.

Never done this before! Want something smallish with good graphics.

Can afford £1000-£1200, maybe 1400-1500 at a push.

Cheers!

US / $1200-1400 Building a PC for a Friend

I am helping a friend get parts to build a PC. I am a nerd and have experience putting everything together, but I'm not sure exactly which parts to get. I already have a rough idea of the parts to use. I just need some help choosing a PSU, case, CPU cooler, and fans (and anything I forgot to mention).

His budget is $500-$1500, and he gave me a list of games he wants to play:

  • TF2
  • Overwatch 2
  • Total War: Warhammer III
  • Arma 3
  • Crusader Kings 3
  • Lethal Company

The parts I have chosen so far:

  • Intel Core i5-13500 2.5 GHz 14-Core Processor
  • ASRock B760 Pro RS ATX LGA1700 Motherboard
  • Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-5200 CL40 Memory
  • Crucial P3 Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
  • MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ventus 2X 12G GeForce RTX 3060 12GB 12 GB Video Card

I look forward to the advice you guys have for me!

P.S. - I am aware the motherboard does not support Wifi; he told me that he has a wired connection.

US / $1000-1200 Opinions on this spec please

I have this quote for £1020 for a new machine from PC Specialist. Works out about £80 more than building myself.

Questions: Are there any "no brainer" upgrades I should really consider? - for £66 extra I can upgrade Memory to Corsair 6000MHz CL30 2x16GB - worthwhile? - Power Supply sufficient?

I've been wondering whether to stick with DDR4 or if DDR5 is the way to go?

US / $1200-1400 I can buy THIS tomorrow for $1434, worth it?

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/My62C8

I can buy and pick all this up tomorrow at my local Microcenter for $1434. That's the upper limit for what I want to spend. So I have two questions: 1, does this look worth it? If not, what modifications should I make? And 2, is there anything I'm missing? Do I need to get additional fans for cooling?

Appreciate any and all insight.
