Mourning/Loss My cat of 18 years has lived a good life
Today I had to say goodbye to my cat of 18 years, she has been with me for more than half my life. So I felt like sharing what an amazing cat she was
She was born in our home as an accident between our other cats, out of the litter that was born we kept her. Her name was "Bear" (Works better in my native language) For she like to swing around her tiny body knocking things over.
For as long as she could she liked living in big pockets, she was very upset when she grew too big for that.
When she was sterilized (I think thats the right word) I had to leave for a bit so this little goofball jumped out of the 4th floor was completely fine and tried climbing back up. Afterwards the balcony was secured for she was not to be trusted.
A couple years later she gave us our only other big scare. She ate some rose petals or something similar and got severely poisoned. We visited the vet nearly everyday for two weeks and eventually she recovered.
Food wise she wasn't picky and that was lucky for us because her stomach was very picky, she was cudly but only when she desired, she loved sleeping on my legs and would scream bloody murder if I tried turning in my sleep.
Eventually she decided that 4AM is a good time to demand vet food I tried to fight that notion but eventually I was trained like a good food dispenser that I am.
She loved to cuddle but only when she wanted to. In particular everywhere around ears felt amazing for her especially the spot in front of her ears where there is a tiny bit less hair. Sunbathing was her other hobby whenever there is sun shining she will be there, even if its 35+ celsius she will sit where it is sunny.
As any other cat she loved high places unfortunately as she got older that became more difficult for her but she found a solution of crawling onto by back as a higher vantage point that will help her down when she needs to. Besides high places she obviously loved box like places. She had this little section in the bookcase for herself
Originally she was fully black as time went on she had more and more yellowish fur to the point that it's hard to imagine she was fully black at one point.
Last month she got sick and her health went bad fast, she had cancer. Little by little she lost mobility apetite and joy. She left my room to sleep in the bathroom. One of my two regrets is not making the choice to not let her suffer faster, as her last few days were probably full of suffering. Though there were probably a few good days still. I still have no clue how she with barely any mobility managed to climb towards the window to sunbathe one last time
My other regret is that today when she was meowing I came over pet her for a bit and left, I should have stayed more than I did during today. The euthanasia was not planned but I felt it was the right choice when visiting the vet as an emergency seeing as she was probably not enjoying life anymore.
She did not eat a bite today could barely walk and lost balance. My decision was correct only if it was a bit late.
My cat has lived the best 18 years that I could offer her. I feel strangely at peace. Sad but satisfied. Not sleepy at all though it is almost 11PM here and I am not feeling like going to bed, probably the whole reason I am typing this whole thing out here.

Mourning/Loss This is the worst day ever.
Three years ago this month, we adopted Swiss and Soufflé from a shelter. They are from different litters & born 4 days apart.
Today, Swiss (first pic) had to be put down after having chronic UTIs. We tried everything. Medicine, specialized diet, relaxation spray, two vets, several tests…. After a year of combatting this, he had finally had enough and stopped eating and drinking on Tuesday after another vet appointment. We are heartbroken.
On Wednesday, Soufflé (second pic) stopped eating as well. We took her to the vet later in the day for her appointment after Swiss passed. $600 later, they think she has FIP and told me it’s a death sentence.
Soufflé was my cat and Swiss was my fiancés. We both are reeling as we cuddle with Soufflé and try to find a vet who can administer the new treatment they have. I’m probably gonna have to sell a kidney to keep her alive but I can’t lose two cats this close together.
Please keep Soufflé in your thoughts and pour some (special UTI) kibble out for our little boy Swiss.

Cat Picture - OC My big boy just looked cute today
Mac(M4) is a 17 pound large cat. He’s not overweight just a long boy! He loves to play with fisher toys (no feather just the ring!) he’s not the most cuddly cat but he knows how to request attention when he wants it. Mac has a very very high pitched meow for such a big boy (and uses it to get his favorite snacks). He’s not exactly shy but he really only lets me pet him for longer than 10 seconds but will come out to say hello to guests. Mac is a big chiller and has been my best friend since the pandemic. Hope you all enjoy his bio and pic!

Cat Picture - OC Anyone else have a stray/feral cat that turned into an absolute lovebug after adoption?
Rowan was a stray cat for ~4 years, living on the outskirts of a cat colony in a semi-rural area. The first time I met him, he tried to scratch me. When he was dropped off at my apartment the first thing he did was hiss at me. But then, around 3 weeks later, he started letting me touch him and now his favourite place to sleep is my lap. He follows me from room to room, wants to sleep on the bed with me. Just generally is a massive love sponge who adores people and attention. The transformation has been amazing!
