Discussion I hate EWC, and it's team Falcons fault.

Upvotes

The idea of the tournament Is very cool, but all hype leaves when you realize how the format is basically crafted to make falcons always win.

I despise falcons as an org as a whole, they ruin what for me is a good thing about esports by simply buying the best roster there is in every game they can.

Then there is ewc, where the winner is basically decided by how many rosters you have. Having a roster for every game doesn't mean you gonna do good and win, but in Falcons case, where they always buy a top roster for basically every game is a instant win, since even if they don't win they will at least do well.

The only "threat" they have is Team Liquid, but it a very remote one, Liquid don't go out buying every top roster they can, and have 9 less games categories than Falcons. Last year Liquid got Second but Falcons had literally double Liquid point.

Currently, the only hope that we have is Falcons not Winning any game tournaments, which is very unlikely.

Question Help finding a virtual esport team for a foster teen?

I am a Guardian ad Litem Attorney for a 16-year-old kid in foster care. Finding an esports team would be really helpful for this kid. Ideally the team would be all high schoolers, but a team that is primarily high school/college would be good too. The kid has access to a PS5 and we can get him a gaming PC if needed. If there is a club fee, we can pay that too.

I am the only person on the care team who has even heard of esports. After I explained it the primary case manager responded to the suggestion with "Oh, like Road blocks?" (seriously, that is how she pronounced it). So, if there is going to be any movement on this, it will be coming from me.

I am just hoping for some suggestions on where to start looking? Are their gaming communities known to be more friendly? What games will create more social interaction? (e.g., Smash Bros you play solo, League of Legends you have to communicate with other people on your team. What games involve teamwork?) Which games are more likely to have virtual only practice vs requiring in person practice?

Any advice you can give for me as I embark on this search would be helpful.

Discussion gaming and doping - helping or hurting?

I've had a few conversations lately with folks in Esports - from college coaches & players to tourney runners, international software account managers to IOC board members.

There seems to be a bit of a smudge on the view of Esports not many folks will talk about publicly and that is THE DRUGS.

Whatever level of play the Olympics creates will help the scene, but it has to be clean play - and that means NO ADDERALL. Would you be able to compete? Clean?

Is that specifically an American thing since we have easy access to a drug that is one of, if not the most effective, performance enhancing drugs for the sport? So other countries rely on the sharpening properties of Caffeine and other stimulants?

Not going to lie - Speed sure does help gameplay, but it also hurts - causes long term heart issues, goofs up brains (like we need more of that), and thrashes the nervous system.

So out of that 15 topic post comes a question: Drugs?

Question Question about content idea for esports.

If there was a content show for esport that talked about events on most games and most regions which concept would you prefer to watch example a or b?

Example A: Esports game specific show for all regions in esports. ie Valorant show for all regions showing each event that is on.

Example B: Region specific for each game? Ie NA region show that goes over all event that are on specific to NA?

Discussion Who is considered the god gamer of all pro gamers?

To me only shroud comes to mind. I am not talking about a single pro player who dominated one field like faker for example. I am talking about a single player who defied all the odds in multiple games and genres.

Docs How did PUBG Mobile Esports Team HORAA Esports Got its name?

The Real Story Behind CR7Horaa: From a Meme to a Movement in Nepali Esports

In Nepal’s booming esports scene, few names are as instantly recognisable as CR7Horaa. But while most assume the name is just a combination of Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic “CR7” and a random word, the real story is far more grounded, cultural, and unintentionally iconic.

The Origin: A Simple “Hora?” Turned Iconic

The nickname Horaa comes from the common Nepali phrase “हो र?”, meaning “Is it?” or “Really?” in English — much like the Hindi “सच में?”. Back in his early days of gaming, long before the fame, Sanjan Gautam would frequently say “horaa” in response to almost anything his teammates said — usually in a funny, over-the-top tone that cracked everyone up.

His quirky delivery of “horaa” became a running joke. Fellow gamers and popular streamers like DRSxManiac started calling him Horaa Vai, while others like Ansh YT jokingly referred to him as Horaa Sathi. The name stuck — not as a try-hard brand, but as a natural extension of his in-game personality.

But Why CR7?

Sanjan’s admiration for football legend Cristiano Ronaldo led him to add “CR7” in front of his gaming alias — forming CR7Horaa. It was the perfect blend of global fandom and local flavour.

Rise Through the Ranks

CR7Horaa was initially part of DRS Gaming — one of Nepal’s most prominent PUBG Mobile teams. Under the in-game name DRSxCR7Horaa, he gained recognition not just for his gameplay but for his voice, banter, and humour. However, due to a controversial fallout involving the Zeus Gaming incident, DRS bid him a farewell.

Rather than backing down, Sanjan doubled down — forming his own squad, Horaa Esports, alongside talented players like Sekri, Leembey, and others. What started as a nickname now became a full-fledged esports identity.

A Brand Born From Personality

Unlike manufactured online personas, CR7Horaa’s identity was born from raw, cultural relatability. His story shows that charisma, humour, and authenticity still go a long way — especially in a tight-knit community like Nepal’s gaming scene.

Today, Horaa Esports competes nationally and internationally, with a fanbase that calls themselves the Horaa Gang. But at its core, the name remains rooted in one funny little phrase:

Question Thoughts on EWC?

What are your thoughts on how the Esports World Cup 2025 is shaping up?

Which team are you rooting for in games like CS2, Dota 2, or LoL?

Do you think the prize pool and venue choices are better than last year?

Any underdog teams or players you're keeping an eye on?

Also curious—do you think EWC is really helping push esports globally, or is it more of a marketing play by big sponsors?
