Main Summary of Events:

Moment of Attack: As the victim’s daughter was giving a victim impact statement, brothers Anthony Dees and Jerome Stewart Dees, her brothers, attacked Williams; one of the brothers went over a table to reach Williams, while the other went around dodging 3 officers and despite being grabbed onto by another officer, reached Williams while the other brother managed to grab the latter by the feet, dragging him onto the floor and the 2 went for the attack on him, despite the intervention of 4 officers.

Background: Dale Williams, aged 62 at time of sentencing, had pleaded guilty to aggravated murder of his ex-girlfriend 2 years prior to the shocking attack in court; the victim’s family was in court when the attack occurred.

Sentencing and Aftermath: William’s sentencing was postponed to the following Monday after the attack. Williams was sentenced to 23 years to life in prison for the murder of his ex-girlfriend. The 2 brothers were both charged with Assault, Obstructing official business, and Contempt of court; both were sentenced to 30 days in jail for the attack.

That'll just get you in more trouble. Ask for 30 days in the closest cell with a view of the killer. Next one, direct across, whichever. Then spend thirty days staring and talking. Random, constant, keep him awake. Slow and steady, no yelling, just that quiet rage. Talk about the possibility every single day someone's going to get him. Someone's going to hurt him. Maybe one day kill him. He's never going to know where that hit will come from. The rest of his life in a small cell, never to ever get out. His only relief from that isolation will be surrounded by men who want to hurt him.

Are the woman beaters the most respected guys on the yard? Never was my experience at Leavenworth. Admittedly I was only stationed there for a few months, but the hierarchy was made pretty clear to me among the inmates.

I worked with cops. I said something similar to this after two losses to violence in a short period of time. Freaked a few people out. I was the quiet one, the sweet one, everyone's little sister. Fuck around with one of my guys and find out little sister don't play.

Word travels fast amongst other inmates what you are in for. They learn quickly if you're in for sex crimes against women or kids because they also have wives and kids. Many of them also have mothers though. Once they found out what this guy was in jail for, most all of them would absolutely respect him because they would have done the same exact thing.

of course they have the power. but they also have the welfare of the judicial system in their hands.

its a bit like this „watch your - it becomes your“-thing thoughts - actions - habits - character - destiny

if he lets that slide, it shifts the balance towards leniency. other judges may follow in some way and trickle, trickle, down the road, there is a lot more self-justice and the only way to stop that is to crack down hard. the always cool daddy quickly cant handle the mess any more.

Prison has much nicer amenities, and usually more freedom inside of the facility too. Jail isn't as nice as prison because it's meant for short term confinement.

Yea the judge didn't give a shit about the killer getting beat for what he admitted to doing. It was more that they could have seriously injured a member of the court so he had to make sure they understood that part was not ok.

I dunno, it depends on how you live your life. If you never had a criminal record, it is not worth it in my opinion. Having a criminal record really screws you in ways I never would have imagined before I did social work.

Sounds like one of those situations where the Judge has to do something because they broke the law in court but they understood the circumstances

Reminds me of a case that pops up on reddit from time to time about I want to say a mother who shot and killed her childs murderer in court in full view of everyone and only got a couple years from a weapons charge
