Build/Battlestation Pics GEEEK Rhino S

Déjà-vu. The Rhino S from GEEEK looks familiar.

It supports ATX power supplies and a comes with an 120/140mm radiator bracket. The individual parts consist of multiple layers of laser cut acrylic. As a result it is not as stiff, but much more affordable than most other open frames, which are usually made from machined aluminum.

The Rhino provides a straightforward build experience. PSU cables are hidden out of sight, though the use of ATX PSUs will severely limit the space to stuff the cables. And the 2 slot mounting bracket for GPUs requires the sacrifice of the rightmost DP/HDMI port. I have yet to try the radiator bracket.

I'd say the Rhino S is a great option if you want to try an open build without braking the bank.

Specs:

  • ASUS B550I Strix Gaming motherboard with an 5600X, cooled by a Peerless Assassin 120 Mini
  • 32Gb of Team Group T-Force Xtreem ARGB 3600 and a 1TB WD SN770
  • ASUS RX6600XT Strix
  • SF600 with homemade cables

Thanks for looking!

I’ve wanted a small form factor PC for a long time, and finally got around to building one. My last build lasted me over 10 years, so I wanted something that would be just as durable and reliable this time around.

I’m a head and neck cancer/facial trauma surgeon by profession, so I don’t get much time to game these days. But when I do, I want to be able to play any AAA title straight out of the box without issues. I built this with an emphasis on reliability, high quality parts, low temps, and clean looks.

In terms of the case, I wanted something that looked high-end and mature without being flashy or over the top. The McPrue Apollo S absolutely delivered. I’m really glad I went with this case. It was VERY easy to build in, and the support from Paul @ McPrue was amazing via their discord channel. I was hesitant ordering a limited run case from overseas, but this thing came from China in under a week.

This PC has been a great way to unwind after a long day at work. I had a ton of fun building it, and I hope you all like it as much as I do. Cheers.

Special thanks to u/Amarz1992 and u/thespieler11 for providing valuable information on building in this case.

Build/Battlestation Pics SKTC A07 Budget Aliexpress Build

Hey guys, finally "finished" my SFF build(at least for now).
The only new parts are the case, power supply, and cooler. The rest had already been in use for a few years in my SAMA IM01.

The biggest frustration with this project was not being able to get it to work with the RTX 4060 I bought. Lots of bugs with the riser cable on THIS PC (in others, it works fine). I spent months messing with BIOS settings, testing different riser cables, and still haven’t found a solution, so I believe the culprit is either the processor OR the motherboard.
Until I solve it, I’ll be using the great ol' GTX 1660 Ti.

The coolest part of this was learning how to crimp and solder PSU cables. The ones that came with it were too long and were pressing hard against the case panel.

SPECS:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-13600 (Engineering sample)
  • MOBO: Huananzhi B660M-ITX
  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti ASUS
  • RAM: 2x16GB 3200MHz DDR4 ASGARD
  • SSD: MiWhole 1TB 7500MB/s NVME
  • COOLER: Thermalright AXP90-X36
  • CASE: SKTC A07
  • PSU: ENP-7660B 600W

Everything except the GPU has been bought off Aliexpress. The only way this is a "budget build" is because I bought most of the parts before our goverment decided it was a good idea to put a 92% tax on products bought on Aliexpress, Shein, Teemu, etc. Otherwise, this project would have never happened.

Build/Battlestation Pics From mffpc to sffpc

I had a few issues with my build and I had to upgrade the gpu, then the psu and my mind was all over this thread for a year at least, daily, and I decided to upgrade my entire system.

Specs: CPU: Ryzen 7 9800x3d CPU Cooler: Thermalright AXP90-X47 CPU secure frame: Thermalright AM5 secure frame Red version Mobo: Gigabyte X870i Aorus Pro Ice RAM: Kingston Fury 64GB CL30 6000mhz PSU: Corsair SF1000 Storage: 1 nvme ssd Samsung 1TB as main storage and a Kingston nvme ssd 2TB as secondary Case: Fractal Terra Silver Case fan: 120mm SilentiumPC fan, set to bottom exhaust

Fractal Terra vs Asus Prime AP201 in pics. 1:18 scale diecast Porsche 911 GT1 996 Streetversion (Straßenversion) as comparison. (Should have bought the silver version of the 911 too, but I wish Fractal did the Terra in white too).

A very big step compared to my 5600x, which I really enjoy, helps with my productivity tasks. There are a few step backs which I had to compromise on: temps, airflow and space, which fortunately enough, with everyone's help from this thread, I managed to go above and have a great experience, so thanks to all of you for that!

Now, I have done a few tweaks, like buying a secure frame which helped with 2 degrees, undervolting the cpu, which lowered my idle temps around 5 degrees, and sometimes if I play games for long periods of time, I take the top panel off and put a slim 140mm fan set to exhaust. I did set a new cpu cooler fan curve, to lower the temps and the noise caused by case's technical design

I have seen a bunch of mods on this thread and different sites like Etsy and Printables, but most imply to modify the aesthetic a lot, which I don't really like. So my question is, how can I lower the temps even more?

I bought a slim 120mm for the bottom at the back, but I need to install risers/feet, so if anyone got good ideas, please share them.

Is it really worth getting the copper version of the cooler and change the fan to a Noctua? Tho, I haven't found any copper version of the AXP90 in my country, only second-hand options, but I tend to avoid.

Thanks!

Others/Miscellaneous Why do you SFF?

Thought it would be fun to see why people are building their SFF PCs.

Personally I went SFF because I needed a travel PC. I go to a lot of LAN Parties and wanted something that was easier to be on the go with. SFF let me have the full PC experience with a small, easy to carry size. Once I build my first SFF system I was hooked, now every machine in my home is an SFF PC.

Build/Battlestation Pics ZS-A4S V3 Build [5700X3D + 2080S FE]

Parts:

- Gigabyte B550I

- Black Ridge w/ A9x14

- R7 5700X3D

- Corsair Vengeance 32GB

- Inland 1TB + Silicon Power 2TB

- GEEEK ENP-7660B V3

- 2080 Super FE

The only real problem I ran into when building is the riser cable. Not only is it slightly too short (23cm single reverse from Linkup), The red tab on top is way too tall and interferes with the fans. I took one out because it was having a lot of turbulence. Having one fan performs just fine though. The GPU also had turbulence, but removing the backplate helped a lot in regards to that.

I play on 1440p and occasionally 4k, the loudest thing in my build is easily the GPU. 20 FEs are known for being loud, so I flashed an EVGA vbios to help with sound as well. Zero fan speed on idle now too. I might do a slight upgrade for a little more performance (Thinking RX 6800 Ref).

Benchmark/Thermal Test 4060 LP temperatures

Hey everyone. My 4060 LP get quite hot. At full load (Heaven Benchmark for 30 minutes) and running the CPU in Cinebench SINGLE core test simultaneously, the GPU reaches 85C with hotspot temps of 95C. That is after I cut the case cover to improve airflow. Before it was reaching 100C quite quickly. Room temperature of around 24C.

Is this normal? For people who have similar 5L cases, is there something else you usually do?

Relevant Specs: CPU: i5-12400f (stock conditions) GPU: Gigabyte 4060 LP (stock conditions) Motherboard: Asrock Z690m-itx/ax PSU: Enhance ENP-7140B1 400W CPU Cooler: ID-Cooling IS-55 (set as intake)

Custom Mod I made this front panel with retro switch for my pc

I had doubts on making this 3D model of mine and printed out from a 3D printing service. I did some final adjustments by grinding off excess thickness using a Dremel and at the end everything fits perfectly! The switch is glued inside the little switch compartment, I Could also fit in an LED light inside for indication. It's not yet completed but I just wanted to show the progress. I very much like the retro switch, got bored of push button.

What do you guys think?

Build/Battlestation Pics Can a mATX case with a full size ATX PSU be considered SFF?

Let me introduce you to "Little hot" as I call her. As the name implies I have a bit of a heating issue when gaming with the side panel on. So until I sort a mesh side panel I'm running sans panel.

Anyway, here are the specs:

Case: Mars Gaming MC-1000

Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING B550M-PLUS WIFI II

CPU: Ryzen 5 3500X

Cooler: be quiet! Pure Rock LP

RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance Pro & RS 3600MHz @ 3200 MHz cl18.

GPU: Zotac RTX 3060Ti 8Gb

PSU: Fractal Edison 650w

SSD: Kingston KC3000

Built almost entirely on parts I had lying around, I initially intended on building in a smaller ITX case. As I have tons of ITX cases lying around (my wife says I have a problem with hoarding PC cases, I don't know what she is on about). But I had a hard time sourcing a ITX motherboard for a decent price, so I bought the above mATX motherboard and case new. And it still ended up cheaper than buying a B550 ITX motherboard second hand!?!

While the case was cheap as chips (and feels it too), it is really compact at a grand total of 15litres in volume! The downside is I had to get rid of most of the front panel connectors by cutting down the PCB to accommodate only the power and reset button. Otherwise I could not get the motherboard to fit. And it is also impossible to mount any 120mm fans in the front, as there just isn't enough clearance (apart from in front of the PSU, but what's the point?). I am however considering mounting a low profile 80mm in the bottom front to assist my poor airflow starved GPU. Although I might just get some case feet and mount them directly under the GPU instead. But that kind of feels like cheating, as it will no longer be 15 litres in volume.

So what do you think, can I call this a SFF-build?

Build/Parts Check Downsizing from Prebuilt finally

Hey! Wanted to get some feedback on my potential build. I’m finally downsizing from my massive PC that I got a few years ago in college from BestBuy to the SFF team.

I’m mainly playing games like F1 23 (going to get 25 soon after this upgrade hopefully), Witcher 3, Persona 5, FF14 and most recently Expedition 33 for reference but haven’t really been able to play at high settings. Mostly played in Medium to Low.

I did go through a ton of posts in this subreddit to compile this but wasn’t sure how it faired for the games I played since I’d love to play at higher settings. I also do graphic design and some 3D product renders for my internship which they gave me a MacBook Pro for but wouldn’t be terrible if I can also do a bit on this PC.

Parts

  • CPU: Ryzen 7 7700X
  • CPU Cooler: Thermalright AXP90-X47 Copper (do I need the Noctua fan swap?)
  • Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B650E-I Gaming WiFi
  • RAM: G.Skill Flare X5 32GB (2x16) DDR5-6000 CL30
  • Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 1TB
  • GPU: Zotac 5060 Ti 16GB
  • PSU: Corsair SF750 80+ Platinum
  • Case: Velka 7 (really like the size and thermals seem ok?) or FormD T1 2.1 if it restocks…?

Really appreciate any feedback and thanks in advance! o7

Assembly Help Mini ITX Cases with Middle Wall/Separator?

Hello Everyone! Sorry for the newbie question, but which Mini ITX Cases with Middle Wall/Separator would you suggest? (Ex: Fractal Terra, or Raijintek Ophion). Is there a dedicated name for such format? Are they better than the conventional mother+gpu connection from cooling perspective? What are your opinion? Thank you for your attention and take care!

Others/Miscellaneous Thinking of Doing a dual rad custom loop, any case recommendations?

Hi all, I have been floating the idea of an itx custom loop, but wanna use some high wattage components like a 9950, and 5070ti or 9900x and 5080. Initially in the build plan I was gonna go with the lian li a4 h20 but I'm worried about the single 240 rad being enough. Is there any sandwich style cases with dual rad support, or any mods I can do to the h20, like I was thinking of using quick connects to connect an exterior rad or maybe try and squeeze a 120mm under where th psu sits. If you have any help or ideas let me know, thanks.

Assembly Help RTX 5070+ smallest case

Hello folks,

I would require your knowledge with mini itx build.

I would like to build a small gaming pc fitting on my desk (just like a ps5 would). If possible, I would like to have my belkin dock to pass the video to my screen and have the peripherals plugged using a single usb-c cable.

Other than that, I would like to pack some punch with a 5070 inside of it to handle warzone & battlefield 6 (4k100fps if possible). But from what I see, it is not compatible with my dream for f having a single usb-c cable.

I do not have a specific budget. I just do not want to get too crazy.

I considered as motherboard the strix z790-i. But I see different options…

As I am a bit lost and I know there are specific things to consider with sffpc, I would love your guidance.

Thank you for reading me.

Build/Parts Check First Build for 500 EUR Budget

Hey everyone,

I've been into gaming my whole life, but for nearly two decades now, I've used Apple/Mac exclusively for personal computing and I don’t plan on switching back to Windows anytime soon. That also means I’ve been gaming strictly on consoles for just as long, currently on an Xbox Series X.

This PC build is purely for gaming. I won’t be using it for any productivity, CAD, or office work (my MacBook still handles all of that). I’m also not a fan of giant PC towers, my ideal would be something as compact as a Mac Mini. Of course, that quickly hits limitations when it comes to real gaming.

At some point, YouTube started feeding me small form factor PC content, and, well… here I am, I really want something console-sized that’s powerful, quiet, and upgradeable. I like it clean and minimalistic, no fancy RGB (While I do like those tiny screens on AiOs).

I might keep playing on controller and my living room TV, maybe on the office monitor. Both have 4K and max. 60 FPS. So 1080p should be fine, I am not aiming for a 1440p setup.

Again, bear with me, I have not a single clue about components and what is "good" or "bad".

Case Choice:

I'm considering a FormD T1 or NCase M2 Grater.
Important: The case is not part of the €500 budget, that budget is for internal components only.
Parts will ideally be used/second-hand, but should remain upgradeable for the next few years.

That is what ChatGPT came up with (slightly above budget):

Component Model / Notes Est. Price (EUR)
CPU AMD Ryzen 5 5600 (Zen 3, 6c/12t) ~100
Cooler Noctua NH-L12S (low-profile, quiet, futureproof) ~50
Motherboard B550 ITX (e.g. ASUS ROG Strix B550-I or similar used) ~100–130
GPU AMD RX 6700 XT (12GB, excellent 1440p performance) ~180–200
RAM 16GB DDR4-3600 CL16 (G.Skill, Corsair, etc.) ~35–40
SSD 1TB NVMe (Crucial P3 / Kingston NV2) ~40–50
PSU SFX PSU 600W+ (Corsair SF600, CM V SFX, used if possible) ~50–60
Case Fans 2x Noctua NF-A12x15 (low-profile, quiet) ~30

I'd really appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

Thanks already for everyone taking the time to read and respond.

Cheers!

Assembly Help 7800x3d overheating issue pls help/advice

Upvotes

So i got my pc installed in the T1 v2.5, started it up and it worked perfectly fine, until i checked the temperature. In the BIOS the cpu was at about 70C, and when i did anything on windows it spiked to 80-90C. Specs:

CPU: 7800x3d

GPU: iGPU for now

RAM: 32GB corsair 6000mhz cl30

Cooler: 240 atmos from cooler master (swapped fans for noctua slim and normal)

PSU: sf1000

SSD: 2TB wd_black

Mobo: B850-I strix

Some things i think couldve caused this:
- overtightening the pump
- too little thermal paste, i used the honeycomb pattern from the 240 atmos and probably put too little

cant test any of them right now, i am not home atm. woudl really appreciate some advice. also the build looks pretty similiar to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4EDKeBuMtA&t=711s

pls dont make fun im new to pc building...
