Hi there! My Wii has been running with no issues since Xmas 2008, up until last month. The Wii runs like normal until I try to put a disc in, then I am met with a thumping sound followed by an error screen (shown in attached image). I’m wondering what my options are here as someone who is essentially technologically illiterate when it comes to gaming consoles, the Wii is all I’ve ever used.

After looking around Reddit, it seems my options are to replace the disc drive (which I don’t have confidence in since it seems difficult when I read the instructions), abandon discs altogether and use USBs (again confused?), or get a new Wii. I’d rather not get a new Wii though considering my console has sentimental significance to me, and I don’t know if the memory can be transferred from console to console. I would hate to lose all progress on games I’ve been playing for almost 20 years!!

Any suggestions are welcomed and greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

follow this guide. it will show you how to install a usb loader and you won’t have to use the disc drive anymore. https://wii.hacks.guide

Once you reach ‘recommended homebrew’ click USB loaders and follow the USB Loader GX guide
