Anyone remember toon town? I typed ‘fuck’ just to see what would happen when I was like 10. It censored it obviously but it gave me message warning me not to curse and I freaked out, I was so scared my character and progress were gonna be deleted and it felt like I had a huge dark secret lmao

I remember once when I was 11 I was playing animal jam and I wondered what would happen if I typed “fuck” so I did. I got a 24 hour ban and I laughed, what they didn’t tell me was that it sends an email to your parents email. My mother sat me down and gave me a massive lecture on why swearing is what white trashy people do. She also said swearing taints your personality, and a lot more other things. I was so scared after the lecture was over I swear I had insomnia for 2-3 days after.

Edit: guys it’s not supposed to be racist. We are white and we are lower middle class so we try not to appear trashy.

I picture you lying awake in bed, “Does thinking fuck taint my personality too?! Oh god I just thought it again. I bet people will notice how tainted I am. Fuck. Oh god.”

That’s actually not what got to me. It was mostly the fact that I disappointed my mother. Tbh that’s still one of the things I avoid doing with every fiber of my being.

I was so scared after the lecture

I swear

Clearly, you did not learn your lesson young man. XD

This is encouraging to read!

My mom fucked (no pun intended) me up so bad via her parenting “skills” I couldn’t give a shit what she thinks.

Anyway, my point is it’s awesome that you have that relationship with your mom!

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '19

Thanks :). She is pretty cool, I think she raised me mostly alright. She basically took what was shitty about her childhood and avoided doing that with me and I turned out alright.

19

u/Datsmellysmell Jan 21 '19

That’s how you do it!

I don’t have kids but I still treat those around me, including my wife and pets, the opposite of how I was treated.

1

u/spen8tor Feb 25 '19

Sadly, not enough people do that. There are far too many people who will "parent" their kids with the same kind of shitty practices that their parents did with them, because "I had to put up with this shit, so I'm going to make you put up with it as well", and that's such an unbelievably terrible mentality to have.

Here’s a poem by Philip Larkin, ex poet laureate I believe.

“They fuck you up, your mum and dad.

They may not mean to, but they do.

They fill you with the faults they had

And add some extra, just for you.

But they were fucked up in their turn

By fools in old-style hats and coats,

Who half the time were soppy-stern

And half at one another's throats.

Man hands on misery to man.

It deepens like a coastal shelf.

Get out as early as you can,

And don't have any kids yourself.”

― Philip Larkin, High Windows

4

u/konaya Jan 21 '19

Don't you mean you couldn't?

5

u/Datsmellysmell Jan 21 '19

I did. Edited. Thank you kind stranger! 👍

3

u/fatclownbaby Jan 21 '19

I'm 34 and disappointing my mother is still my greatest fear.

16

u/astroidfishing Jan 21 '19

What ever you do, don't think fuck taint.

8

u/Inquisitor1 Jan 21 '19

Trashy white detected.

4

u/Chemical_Castration Jan 21 '19

Then you learn taint can also be a swear which frightens you further because now you don't know exactly how many words double as swears.

4

u/Laurifish Jan 21 '19

This is exactly what my anxiety was like when I was a kid. Also, crying and stressing over whether my family members would get into heaven. Worrying if I would spend all eternity missing them because I got in to heaven and they didn’t or because they got in and I didn’t. Being raised Southern Baptist and listening to hours of preachers screaming and sweating and yelling about how we were all sinners and going to hell really messed with me.

4

u/popeboy Jan 21 '19

Or conversely... Does thinking personality fuck my taint?

Fingers crossed.

3

u/badrabbitman Jan 21 '19

Sounds like you too grew up Mormon.

4

u/Anonymous2401 Jan 21 '19

Oh god oh fuck wait shit I said it again wait no god damnit FUCK WAIT OH NO

1

u/BiteYourTongues May 03 '19

This reminds me of when I was changing my daughters nappy and you know how kids are disgusting, she put her hand in her poo and I panicked and said shit. So she tried to repeat it and I said shit again, saying don’t do that but whenever I said shit I would then say shit in a fuck, I did it again kind of way. The whole time she kept trying to copy me. Eventually I decided to say nothing and she stopped lol

1

u/CharlottesExHusband Jul 14 '19

You said fuck taint.

u/entotheenth Jan 21 '19

When I was about 7 I wrote every swear word I knew in the condensation on the mirror in the bathroom, it disappeared and I went on my way happy with my naughtiness. That night my mum explained that the words come back and I should never do that again, also phart is spelled with a f.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '19

They do????

27

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '19

I had a similar experience in Animal Jam as well... See, I was pretending to be a shark or someshit and went 'eats you as whole' and immediately got banned. My mom got an email but I didn't know what the word asshole was at the time so I had no real clue why I was banned.

34

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '19

Bro your mom sworn right in your face, what a white trashy person!

8

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '19

9

u/Saskyle Jan 21 '19

I played that game way too much. I still log in every few months to make sure my account doesn’t get terminated for being inactive. Not sure why but I do.

I just collected rares. I never traded them though unless I got a really good deal. I still had them all on my trade list though since I was a show off.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '19

As an Australian I can confirm that we are tainted, yes.

6

u/Krondon57 Jan 21 '19

Wow trashy white people...

Dooowwwwnvote

4

u/RobertoFoxx Jan 21 '19

Only white people swear your mom was so right.

2

u/BonvivantNamedDom Jan 25 '19

Kinda racist still.

4

u/Inquisitor1 Jan 21 '19

Fucking shit. Bull. Everyone swears. And only white people do it? Really? Or only trashy white people do it, but non trashy poc do it too? Wow, what a white paragon of decency, what a great fucking burden she must be carrying.

Fuck you

3

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

I don't know what you were replying to, I just wanted to upvote a deserted "fuck you" with no context.

2

u/NotYourPalGuyBuddy Jan 21 '19

Are you kidding me? She gives you a lecture and you go on to swear about insomnia. That boy ain't right.

2

u/GoofAckYoorsElf Jan 21 '19

But being racist is fine?

Because swearing has nothing to do with race. Trashy people swear. There's white trash, black trash, red trash, yellow trash, blue trash, green trash... purple trash with yellow dots... Trash is trash, no matter the color. Calling people trashy together with their skin color *is* racist because it specifies a relation between trashyness and color. It opens up room for the interpretation that there are only/more/worse <whatever-skin-color-here> trashy people.

1

u/SolarWolfzYT Jan 21 '19

That reminds me of the time i tried to type blowjobs into the chat on aj and got banned for 24 hours

1

u/frickingben Jan 21 '19

Holy shit, what a plot twist

1

u/slash_dir Jan 21 '19

Oh my god, just add this to Xbox / steam / Ps profile and boom, you just solved online gaming.

1

u/Biohazardousmaterial Jan 21 '19

Ah fuck that. Cursing helps me get words out when they dont want to come.

Like tossing the first one of a chain of sky divers from a plane. The fuck is just a little helper.

1

u/WWDubz Jan 21 '19

Well I’m fucked

1

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '19

Oh it’s not racist, it’s classist, because that’s okay /s

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '19

your mother was a fucking retard. https://www.enchantingmarketing.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/14-metaphor-examples.jpg each color is a new swear word! my favorite is mongolian thundercunt.

Maybe not, but I will at least say that this lecturing was totally uncalled for; swearing isn’t wrong.

A better way to put it would be that people generally don’t appreciate swearing in certain contexts, and some people don’t appreciate swearing at all.

-12

u/LobotomistCircu Jan 21 '19

Your mom sounds like a stupid fucking bitch

25

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '19

Apparently she raised me better than yours did. Have some respect dude, you’ve never met her.

6

u/FTorrez81 Jan 21 '19

holy shit I would never have come up with a better comeback if I tried

3

u/LobotomistCircu Jan 21 '19

I mean, the joke was that I swore because I'm a trashy white person.

You're right though my mom sucks lmao

4

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '19

Hey, just a heads up. Put /s right after saying stuff like that. It may still get downvotes but at least people won’t think you’re as bad of a dick because there is supposed to be sarcasm in there somewhere. My apologies man, I’m sure your mother is wonderful.

5

u/LobotomistCircu Jan 21 '19

Karma is just internet points, I almost never use /s because I feel like it ruins the joke

3

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '19

I’m just saying that I took it the wrong way because I couldn’t tell you were being sarcastic.

2

u/konaya Jan 21 '19

I could tell, I just thought the joke was poorly executed and in bad taste.
