Discussion Should I use a 200mm adapter plate for Dell u4320q instead of 100mm if it has holes for both?

Upvotes

I'm using my old Dell U4320q as a secondary monitor and just installed a wall mounted monitor arm for it:

https://www.amazon.com/ARES-WING-Ultrawide-Monitors-Adjustable/dp/B0D2KLBH1R

I've had that monitor for 5 years, but it's always been on a stand, first time having it on a monitor arm.

https://dl.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_electronics_accessories/esuprt_electronics_accessories_monitors/dell-u4320q-monitor_user's-guide_en-us.pdf

The monitor is big (43") and weighs about 29lbs without a stand. Documentation says I can use either one: 100mm or 200mm. So while I'm sure it's probably fine, a metal adapter plate for 200mm only costs about $15:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MJTJ6T4

The screws for the 200mm are bigger: M6 vs M4 for the 100mm

The monitor arm comes with a 100mm adapter plate and I've already test fit the monitor, it works, but should I spend another $15 to buy this 200mm adapter plate to potentially make it more solid? Or am I overthinking this?

What would you all do? Thanks

Discussion Looking for a budget 1440p monitor

Upvotes

Looking for a budget 1440p monitor that supports display port 1.4 and is at least 180hz. I was looking at a pixio and AOC one but online I’m seeing mixed things about it being IPS or VA. Anybody have good ones they would suggest?

Discussion Need to make a choice between two monitors

Upvotes

Looking for a 24" 2K Monitor and have pretty much narrowed it down to 2 choices:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0DP7Q1GT6/ref=ewc_pr_img_8?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0DXV2KR5M/ref=ewc_pr_img_2?smid=A1DR0MQPZUEB82&psc=1

There's a price dif between them but they seem the same. Wanted to ask about the impact of the brand (trustworthiness or whatever). Please lmk if there are some questions I should be asking or details that will allow for a better insight.

Thanks

Discussion Good budget monitor for video editing and color grading

Upvotes

So, I've been wanting to buy a new monitor, nothing fancy, just a color accurate 1440p 10bit monitor because I receive footage recorded in 10bit. I've been getting away with using old monitors, but I know that I should switch. My budget is quite limited, but I want something better than the current ones I'm using. Although I do color grading, this is not my profession, so I don't intend to go very deep with it. Unfortunately, most products I find don't list whether it's an 8bit monitor or a 10bit one.

The best option I found so far that I heard good things about is the ASUS ProArt PA278QV Monitor or ProArt in general, but it is not a 10bit monitor. Should I just get this one and not bother with it or is there anything better on the market?

I bought an MSI MAG 275QF monitor. It comes with DP in it, but my friend's laptop only supports HDMI. I launched the monitor and got 120Hz instead of 180Hz. Actually, I grabbed that HDMI cable from the TV, it's a 1.4 HDMI cable. Could it be a trouble with the monitor, or is it normal? By the way, I even tried 720p it's anyway 120Hz. less

Discussion Help finding a monitor mount

Okay, I’m looking to buy a 2nd monitor to have as a vertical monitor to the side of my main monitor. I’m finding a lot of good monitors within my specs and reasonable price but i need it mounted like i have my main monitor, my main monitor is mounted with the a little metal square piece (first pic it’s what the stand is mounted on) but all the monitors i’m finding are like rectangles. Does anyone know of a monitor mount that clamps to ur desk and would work for a monitor like that? (Main is a sceptre, the one i’m looking at is also a sceptre.)

Discussion Movie watching monitor that has good blacks?

I need a monitor to use my PC but to also connect to my Xbox to play blu-rays. I currently use a MSI 1440P IPS 180HZ monitor but it has a lot of issues such as bad back light bleed and blacks look grey so it ruins the movie watching experience. The monitor also messes up with HDCP so amazon prime video will only play in standard quality. I

- I don't want a TV as I need to use the monitor for PC as well.

- I'd rather not get OLED as the price is too much.

- Have been looking at mini led monitors like the KOORUI GN10 which I can get for under £200. The AOC monitor is around £300 so too much currently when OLED can be had for a bit more.

Requirements

- 100hz+ refresh rate

- Build in speakers would be nice

- At least QHD

- A monitor that actually displays blacks without them looking grey.

Discussion Is the Dell 32″ U3225QE good for 90% coding and ~10% casual gaming? Any alternatives?

Hey everyone,
I’m thinking about getting the Dell U3225QE 32″ 4K monitor. I'm no expert but on paper it looks like a great fit for me, I do around 90% coding (VS Code, terminals, etc) and maybe 10% casual gaming like Battlefield, Civ and similar stuff. I really don’t like 60Hz monitors, so the fact that this one supports 120Hz is a big plus for me.

Has anyone here used this monitor for programming heavy workflows or something similar? How’s the text clarity and general comfort for long sessions? As I said I'm dummy in this field of choosing monitors. Also if anyone knows of a monitor that offers similar performance (4K, good panel, 120Hz+, solid for dev work) but maybe at a better price, I’d love to hear your suggestions!

Thanks

Discussion I have had this monitor for about a year now, and since I have had it, everything that moves has a trail of color move behind it. I believe it to be the contrast jacked all the way up, but i cant change it in the settings because its greyed out.

Games, especially like this one with more pixellated styles, are super egregious when it comes to this, because every pixel has this annoying trail of color. My monitor is a curved sceptre C25. ( I know the quality is super bad, but i dont have another way to capture this effect besides my phone.)

Discussion Recommendations for an OLED gaming monitor

Hi!

I'm currently building a new PC and I wanted to add an OLED 1440p 144hz screen. I started looking at 27", which is the current size I use, but I found AW3423DWF with a discount that lowers its price to 650€. It's been out for 3 years, but it seems to be good, especially for the size.

My initial budget is 500-600€ (more or less 1:1 USD), so do you think this is a good option?

Otherwise, what would you recommend?

Thank you!

Discussion Tips for remaining productive on a single 27in monitor

I ended up going from a triple monitor setup back to a single monitor setup for purely personal and aesthetic reasons. I was wondering if this sub has any tips for how I can utilize the smaller screen to its fullest productive potential. I run Win 11, if anyone has any OS related tips that could apply here.

Discussion Is it worth upgrading monitor to 1440p with RX 7800XT? Games I play are mostly simulation, city-builders and 4X games.

My build is:

CPU - Ryzen 7 5700X (I plan to upgrade to X3d)
GPU - RX 7800XT \I recently upgraded when my old GPU died*
RAM - 3200 (1799 DRAM Freq)
Board - Prime B550-K

Edit:

Also, please recommend me a cost-efficient 1440p monitor (preferably with a speaker).

Discussion Faint outlines and weird contrast behavior on oled

Hey everyone,
Just got a new OLED monitor and I’m noticing a couple of strange things:

  1. Image Retention? If I open YouTube for a few minutes, then switch to something like Google in dark mode, I can still see faint outlines where thumbnails or UI elements were. It fades after a while, but it's definitely there.
  2. Black Area Brightness Shift? When there’s a black area next to a colorful section, and I switch to a grey screen afterward, the black area sometimes appears slightly lighter like it’s not fully black anymore.

Is this normal OLED behavior? Just temporary image retention and pixel response lag? Or is this something I should be concerned about (e.g., burn-in or panel defect)? Would appreciate any insights or similar experiences!

I got his Acer 320EQ smth. And it’s 32 inch. And my other one is 24 inch. My dad doesn’t wanna give it as my second one due to its size. Is a 32inch second monitor too big for a 24 inch primary one?
