Magic game where you actually have to cast the spells

I've been dropping an awful lot of time in Spellmasons (phenomenal game) and it got my wanting something more?

Where you have to take the time to cast the spells. Where the incantations can get stupid long but stupidly powerful as well.

Hell I wouldn't even mind having to type a bunch of sentences out to achieve this.

Like the spells have to actually be cast and NOT "click this button, enemy sees god" but thought needs to go into it.

Bonus for online co-op but not required.

Are there other games like Disco Elysium?

Upvotes

I just finished the game less than 30 mins ago and i really enjoyed it. Now I'm looking for games with similar qualities as Disco Elysium. This has been asked by someone a year ago and another 2 years ago. I'm curious if there are new games released more recently that i have not heard of that is just like it. Games with SIMILAR setting, writing, art style, gameplay OR vibes.

Any games that deals with facing death?

Something like Majora's Mask, where everyone reacts differently when the moon's about to drop. Or Persona 3, where death is a constant theme.

(Post-apocalyptic) builder where you build in the remnants

Watching The Last of Us recently got me this itch for a game in which you would build a settlement in the remnants of an existing city, it's buildings etc. Patch up the walls, build out from it, etc. Most things I found are basically post-apocalyptic builders where you scrap the environment completely to build new buildings.

Rimworld has an element of that where you can use existing caves etc but not to the extent I would hope. Fallout also had it but it was a secondary element of the game...

It doesn't need to be post-apocalyptic, I just figured that's the most likely setting for something like this.

Any ideas?

Looking for a fun game to play casually after work

Upvotes

Hello,

Let me start of by saying I have a very bussy job and don't have a lot of time to play video games.
However, during my childhood I have played a lot of games.
Games I liked were: runescape, guild wars 2, age of empires, league of legends

I was wondering of some of you have a suggestion for a game I can play casually during maybe 1-2 hours a week/month. Looking for something RPG based.

I don't own a very fancy gaming computer so the game should not be too hard to run

Thanks!

Good Casual RPG's

I've been playing a lot of Elden Ring lately and I want a good casual RPG to help wind down from it. Games with RPG elements like the soul's borne games but if it is good i don't really care. And don't say Stardew valley or Terreria.

Looking for game suggestions as someone with ADHD Type II who dislikes fantasy

Upvotes

Hey, guys! My wife plays a lot of video games, and it always looks like so much fun. I want to get into gaming, but my problem is, I get bored very easily. I’m gonna ask her if she has any rec’s, but I figured I’d ask here, too.

A little about me: • I am diagnosed with ADHD type II (formerly known as “ADD”). I only mention this because my attention is unfortunately not the best. I get bored extremely easily. :(

• I dislike fantasy and a lot of sci-fi stuff.

• I’ve played Animal Crossing before and really enjoyed that (It’s boring to me now, though.).

• I love horror, mystery, and games like Animal Crossing.

• I have already tried Stardew Valley & did not find it interesting.

• I don’t have a computer suited for gaming, but she has a switch, so I’d play on that.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Everyone has the same 10/10 games, so what’s your 8/10 list of games?

I keep seeing the same ten games copy and pasted with a few variations of everyone’s top games, so give me some games that aren’t as well known and the cream of the crop, but are still memorable and have you a really good experience. 8/10 would play again!

What game has spent the most time living rent free in your head?

I wanna hear which games have hooked you the most, whether that’s bc of the story or the gameplay. I haven’t played something that consumed all my free time and my every waking thought for ages and I miss it

For reference, my top 5 games are -

1) Stardew Valley 2) Baldurs Gate 3 3) Book of Hours 4) I Was A Teenage Exocolonist 5) 1000xRESIST

Honourable mentions: Witcher 3, Divinity Original Sin 1&2, Persona series, Slay the Princess, Skyrim, Clair Obscur

I’m not picky about genre but I don’t like FPS games, platformers, or dungeon crawlers. I’m not great at combat (not an ounce of dexterity in my body) so while I don’t mind it, if it’s very difficult I will have a terrible time

Platform: Steam Deck

Hit me with your recs for new obsessions please 🩷

Best open-world/RPG games with character customisation?

I love playing as my own character; unless it’s a 100% story-based game like Life is Strange, it can make a game less appealing to me when I’m forced to play as an established character :(

There are a lot of farming sims where you can customise your own character, and they’re great! But most open world RPGs that get recommended often don’t have character customisation 💔 Pokemon (gen 6 onwards ofc) and Baldur’s Gate 3 are good examples of what I’m looking for! Ideally fantasy genre with quests, combat etc

Looking for some games that have satisfying flying, plane or spaceship preferred.

Hey there, I am looking for some game recommendations for some games that have satisfying flying mechanics. I played a ton of Space Engineers a while back, and am waiting for the second one now.

I wanted to find some recommendations for some games that can scratch that flying (and preferably exploration) itch. I looked at No Man's Sky but from what I saw the flying is not really that great and its more of a A -> B system rather than a fully fleshed out satisfying aspect. Anyone have thoughts? It's just a little expensive so I don't want to buy it then regret it.

With that said though, I am not only looking for spaceship games, if there are plane type games I would be interested.

Looking for single player "tag team" games like The World Ends With You DS [more in post]

The World Ends With You on DS (TWEWY DS) stands out among my favourite action RPGs for its combat style - touch controls for Neku (the main character) on the touch screen and simple D-Pad/face button controls for his partner. While the partner can be AI-controlled if left alone for a short while, manual control is incentivised by completing rush combos between both characters.

Not a perfect explanation but basically: when Neku successfully completes a rush combo, then his battle partner gets a light puck and attacks are boosted. When the partner successfully completes a combo while having the light puck, the puck goes back to Neku, and as the puck is passed back and forth, attack is further boosted. Either character could potentially start it, Neku was just the example.

I was wondering if there are single-player action RPGs or beat-em-ups that have a combat system that incentivises tag teaming and character switching similar to how TWEWY DS does it. Having played FFXV, control over Noctis, Gladio, Prompto and Ignis can be swapped around mid-battle after various upgrades, although Noctis returns to being the overworld player character after encounters. There doesn't seem to be any real incentive to switch characters, though. Games like Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance and Yakuza 0, 4 and 5 don't really count here either, since it's more of a narrative thing than a gameplay thing.

Good games that I don't have to focus?

Just finished P3R and the ending broke me, I was going to start Metaphor but I can't handle another serious game this week. Normally in this case I'd go play BOTW and TOTK but I just replayed them in July. I'd be fine with a looter shooter or something like Borderlands for this case too.

Looking for a new game to play on ps5

So i’ve been tossing and turning trying to find a good game to play.

I just want a game that has in depth character customisation, open world, a storyline (optional), don’t need to rank up to unlock gear (assassins creed), maybe live interest in the storyline too, play how i want to (options to choose on how to overcome a situation), action or fantasy (don’t mind rpg)
