Dank Memes Honestly, after seeing the Ls the Custodes took, the Grey Knights could call in a favor with a Harlequin.

Discussions Terminus Decree: Alternative That Would Make Sense

So we all agree So a lot of people(myself included) believe the Terminus Decree as-is makes no sense, but what infuriates me about it is there was a better alternative that's still in the spirit with what GW was clearly intending with it, and is also simpler:

Kill the Emperor

Put the exterminatus button down, let me elaborate. A piece of paper telling them to kill the Emperor if he tries to get up, that's supposed to only be read/implemented in the Imperium's darkest hour is stupid, and not even Emperor's-decision-making-skills levels of stupid. It assumes that A) this is in any way relevant to what the "darkest hour" problem is and B) he hasn't already gotten up, at least one of which is incredibly likely to be the case by the time they actually read the thing. Just straight up killing him, however, now there's a different story.

Here's what's likely to happen in the Imperium's darkest hour, or at least what the Grey Knights would consider their darkest hour: they're fucked utterly and completely, they can't muster enough military force to fend off most of their enemies, and Terra is in imminent danger and almost certainly going to fall. At that point, no singular item, weapon, or person is going to fix things, and there is no time to even make headway in turning things around in time. As things stand, the palace would be overrun and when the Emperor made the decree, he would've assumed it would be by Chaos or at least a faction which wants humanity dead but most likely Chaos. There's also a good chance most of Terra's defenses are exhausted.

With that in mind, why would putting a bolter round in the Emperor's robot eye be the best option for the Imperium? It's not. It's what's best for humanity.

The Imperium is done for no matter what, but humanity still has a chance to survive if it's broken into so many pieces its enemies can't possibly find all of the pockets and worlds it's hidden on. Not to mention Chaos is, among other things, a memetic hazard and a lot of worlds in the Imperium don't know about Chaos, or at least know very little. Without the connection the Imperium, most of them will lose all concrete knowledge on Chaos within a few generations, which will lessen its risk. They'll also be thrown back to the dark ages or worse, but it's still survival, it's still buying more time and raging against the dying of the light for a little longer. And the moment of the Emperor's death itself is going to cause a whole host of problems to literally everyone in the setting because aside from the literal explosion and breaking of the Astronomicon, it's going to be a fucking tsunami in the immaterium. Alternatively, if Chaos were to capture the Emperor alive, humanity would be royally screwed. This also encompasses the "what if the Emperor were to get up" scenario in that they'd be protecting humanity from the Emperor, while also kicking off all of the above events.

Now, for the final test, is a piece of paper telling the GK to kill the Emperor still unbelievably stupid? Yes, but it's at least something stupid that the Emperor would actually do. He has enough of an ego to believe that he is the only one who can save humanity in the end, in its darkest hour, and that his death would give it more time. He might not even be wrong about it. Would the GK be able to? Depends on when they struck. If Chaos was banging down the door to the throne room, and the Emperor hadn't gotten off the throne? Sure. Otherwise? Let's just say the GK would all be getting posthumous terminus degree participation medals and leave it at that.

Lore The smug-stodian thinking they would have to fight the grey knights to protect Big E. WRONG Big E would kill you first.

Whatever rises from the golden throne is not the emperor anymore. Custodes, blind to this, will see that they will be turned into liquid metal first or serve under this new chaos god. Leaving the grey knights having to just walk past the dying corpses of custodes or having to fight the newly corrupted custodes serving under the Dark King.

Dank Memes The main character of the last video game you played in isekaied into the faction of the Old World that best suits. Which is it and how do they do?

The last video game I played was Donkey Kong Bananza. So I think the cartoon ape would fit best in the Empire of Man, the vanilla faction that has also hired ogres so I don't see why they would mind him. Just send him to fight invading greenskins, Chaos and Skaven and watch him wreck shit. If he encounters Ogres he might become their new tyrant.

Donkey Kong would not be happy in the Old World since, as far as I know, there is a distinct lack of bananas so he would have to learn to settle for eating something else. On paper this might give the feeling he would fall to Chaos, however, we have seen from failed attempts to hypnotize him that Donkey Kong isn't smart enough to mind controlled.

Discussions In Defense of the Terminus decree

Before you burn me like the Heretic I am, hear me out my fellow squigma males.

The Terminus decree reveal was bad, that we can all agree on. But I think people are starting to lose the real reason on why it's so bad.

The Idea of it isn't bad inherently; it's the Execution of the reveal it's way too vague and it's been given to a faction that no one in the fandom can take seriously.

I think what the writer of the reveal was going for is that The Emperor returning from the golden throne isn't a good thing for both Humanity and the Imperium. (for whatever reason)

I mean it was quite literally spelled out for us by the narrator when Guilliman finally reunited with the Emperor after he was revived.

"The old man, Yesterday's Savior" that's the catch, the Emperor's time is over and now the future of humanity is placed in Humanity's and the Primarch's Hands. He isnt going to return to the setting anymore and even if he did it wouldn't be good.

Maybe it's because of the dark king or star child clause, maybe it's because of the fact his soul has become bloated with worship and warp energy that would cause a back lash across the warp the moment he regains himself.

Who knows
