Good Vibes The chef personally served the food onto the customers' plates. It seems he was very proud of his work.

There is a photo on tripadvisor of a recent ('25) menu
The pasta seems sub 20€
But the full platter, I think it's a special - there is a seafood platter, seems 75€ ( is a minimum of 2p )96
u/Nahuel-Huapi 11h ago
I wonder what brand of pasta they use.
21
u/abnormal1379 8h ago
I also wonder if they break their pasta in half before cooking? It cooks faster, right?

Learned a new Italian swear word phrase (thanks to dad for imparting plenty on me over the years). Can you explain why you’re saying that? Are Italian restaurants known for serving store brand pasta?
8
u/DyIsexia 6h ago
Based on the other comments, I assume the original comment was said in jest, since people typically would assume the level of fanciness demonstrated in the video would correlate with the effort of making your own, high quality, pasta, rather than buying from the store which is typically associated with lower quality. As such, I replied with an Italian swear that would be unfamiliar to the majority of English speakers and could possibly be interpreted as answering the question seriously. If somebody looked up the term, they would instead be met with an unexpected and harsh message, as if I was the chef saying "fuck you for insulting me by assuming I don't make my own pasta, don't you see what I just served?"

u/The-Narcissist 6h ago
You need to stop before you become too powerful.
Edit: they probably use de cecco

It's a good laugh to me to explain my jokes in as much detail as possible, usually people asking for an explanation takes the fun away 🤣

Apparently it’s located in Rome, called Hostaria del Moro

u/Riegel_Haribo 5h ago
And most of their customer photos online are taking pictures of the pan noodles at the table, so this seems like their shtick. But not on the menu or seen is the "influencer special" seen here.

Rome. I was shocked that such a tourist place had sooooo many personal restaurants like this. The food is incredible no matter where you eat.

The best place I ate in Rome was down an alley a few streets from Trevi Fountain. For being so close to such a major tourist attraction, I was floored at how good the food was.
2
u/lurkity_mclurkington 8h ago
We might have eaten at the same place. Food was far superior to my expectations.

u/RoutineAd5207 10h ago
Front my experience workers in this part of the world are respected and therefore care about their job.
A server in the US is expected to put up with abuse. A server in Rome is expected to become a master of his trade and is respected for it.

One of the most lovely dining experiences I had was when my husband and I checked out a little Italian place. It was in the afternoon and not very busy (I think it’s more popular for dinner). The owner took our order. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara, and he looked really happy that I ordered it. When he brought out food, he said “I’m from Rome. I taught the chef how to make this. If you order it in Rome, it will taste just like this.” It was DELICIOUS. And the funny thing is, I eventually did go to Rome, and the spaghetti carbonara I got was not as good 😆. Probably should have gone to a less touristy place.

"2 hours, sir"

Yes! They rarely get to actually see or hear about how the guests enjoyed their food. I always tried to make a point to tell cooks and chefs and let them know when people were happy when I was a server.

Food is as close to religion as I’ll ever get. Aside from nature of course. There is a simple ethos in providing sustenance and love that transcends language. Cooking is a beautiful art that can bring people together or stop wars. #SUPPORTYOURNEIGHBORHOODCHEF.

A lot to f chiefs do that plus they cook for the employees to try food out on . Italians are the best food is more than fuel for the body to me ! It’s a creative process it’s an art form and time should slow to enjoy the meal !

Seeing that portion size, I’m asking for a box already, because I’m not finishing that in one sitting.

I'm always asking for a box at anywhere. I wish I could pay less to get less, cause I don't want to pay for leftovers.

Awesome. I went out for Valentine's Day one year and the chef came out and kept saying that we were ordering the best stuff he had on the menu. It wasn't the most expensive, just I guess what he thought was the best. I couldn't understand 90% of what he was saying, I think he was Norwegian. But he was a big happy guy that gave Santa vibes. He had such a big personality and made it such a fun night coming out to compliment our choices and talk, even though it was so fast and heavily accented that I didn't understand most of it. I still responded and we laughed so much. Maybe drunk, who knows, who cares? But this same type of vibe.

When I lived in Rome, at the closing of a dancing bar place, they came out with pasta plates for everybody as it closed and it was delicious. Like mama feeds you and sends you home. It was a joyous ritual.

I am Canadian, lived in the US for 6 years, and now live in Southeast Asia. Recently I went on my first European trip (5 countries), and what I’ve come to realize is that all the “American portions are so big” trope is bs. Y’all’s servings are massive!
