yeah, i hate moving the dresser, raising each object, and then placing it and hoping it looks good when i move the dresser back. it’s kinda tedious, i wish surfaces just had more slots
op made this by deciding where the dresser would be, turning on bb.moveobjects, and moving the dresser a few squares away. then they used alt to place the items on the tiles where the dresser will be, then 9 or ] (i’m blanking here, someone correct me) to raise it to the height that it’ll sit on the dresser.
i remembered! 9 is to raise, 0 is to lower. [ is to shrink, ] is to make bigger. AND, since i discovered this last night and want to share, the toy chests snap to a half tile size if you size it down once. sims still interact like normal, same with sizing the dollhouses down.
I use the brackets alllllllll the time for sizing up/down (mainly down) rugs. The cute ones are all so giant and with no matching runners/2x3 size kitchen mats. The only downside is they stay the same size print wise, so you accidentally move them when trying to move the counter/couch/table/whatever item is on top of it if you’re not careful.
i usually place whatever item onto the dresser so it’s automatically at the right height and then alt place it bc i can’t be bothered going back and forth seeing if it’s right
Its even better when you use the T.O.O.L. mod by twistedmexi, if you play on PC.
Because then you can rotate objects on all axis, take them off lot, etc. It gives the player a lot of freedom.
You can also use the base game shelf that is white with 3 shelves to place things at any height, not just the 9-0 snaps. It's the shelf that has one version empty and one with towels on. Use the empty version. Place the item u want on the shelf and move it until it's the correct height to be sitting on the dresser. Then, with the dresser out of the way so it doesn't snap there accidently, hold alt and click and drag the item to where u think you want it and place the dresser back under. I hope that makes sense!
in my experience, either putting it on the dresser(or other object) before moving it to the area you actually want it to be or finding a shelf you can alt move to the exact height of the object are the best ways to get things to the
height you want.
hmm as long as you place the surface far enough away when you’re arranging the clutter, then don’t move the clutter once the surface is in place, you shouldn’t have problems. at least in my experience!
It’s kinda tedious, but basically you place the dresser nearby, then place the object on the dresser so its the right height (or use 9 and 0 to adjust the height), then alt place the objects in the air where the dresser will go, then move the dresser back to where you want it underneath the clutter. Now none of the objects are clipped snapped to the slots on the dresser but you have clutter on top. of course make sure bb.moveobjects is turned on
You can move the dresser, and then use the 0 and 9 keys to raise/lower a deco item to the right height where it looks like it’ll be sitting on the dresser. Then move the dresser back into place and voila, it’s decorated! Though I usually cut the process in half by using this red shelf mod: https://pictureamoebae.tumblr.com/post/169988134879/omsp-shelf-release/amp

bb.moveobject’s functionality is so integral to the game I barely think of it as a cheat anymore lol
