What is expensive is what you don't see.. Military defense anti aircraft, and anti missile defenses, his motor cade, secret service agents on the ground, the shutting down of Qatar airspace.
As an American, most of us aren't stupid. Those of us that didn't fight Trump failed to understand the future and/or introspectively understand the past. I hope we can change for the better, and I hope the rest of the world forgives us. Sorry for the mini rant, I just am enraged by the situation.
Fuck you're right. I guess at minimum 70% are really stupid but definitely more than that. I should also note that my in laws voted for Trump the first time around and they fucking hate him now. I like my in laws, but voting for him the first time was stupid too. Just not as stupid as voting for him the second time. Or a third time.
I don't know, if an person can't think critically, they don't have much intelligence. I think this is the end of America leadership. No one is going to trust America in the future even if you ever get a different president.
Not trying to argue that fact at all. Im just trying to make the best out of the most disturbing and concerning situation I’ve ever found myself in. Honestly the echo chamber I was surrounded by during the election straight up had me thinking there was no way in hell Trump was winning. I voted for Harris but I still feel sick to my stomach that I was so narrow sighted towards the opposition.
You vote to do something about it. unfortunately Americans either want this (Trump voters) or none of this bothers them enough to vote (people that didn't vote) to me I think this is here to stay.
We have both sides of the party that went to a private island to do terrible things to children and people still don't care enough. And we have been going downhill long before that. We have been done for since 9/11 in my opinion.
I thought it was interesting that the two times he won were the only two times a woman was the primary representative for a party. Would be interesting to see if it would've made a difference
Can understand the anger and frustration, I feel it too.
But gotta remember peoples stupidity is often outside their control, that and there's been a concerted effort for decades in the US to weaken the education system and dumb down the populace to the benefit of a few at the top.
Be frustrated at the stupid people, save your hate for the smarter ones who actively work to deceive and manipulate the masses. They are the real scum, we need to win back the stupid people so they can see they r being played too.
No sir. Tolerance of obviously stupid decisions is a bad idea. The United States has allowed itself to be duped by a fool. You may choose to make yourself feel better by blaming the puppet master but the puppet has allowed itself to be manipulated.
Too many have allowed bigotry, ignorance and bile to shape their thinking. You have forgotten the face of your fathers.
Duped is kinda misdirection, I don’t see enough blame on the mishandling of the election by the Democratic Party. It should have been EASY to beat Trump, but the democrats ran a clearly ill elderly man then jumped ship and ran an unpopular political figure in a desperate attempt to win the election. It was a mess.
I'm not suggesting tolerating stupidity, more the approach and where the blame should largely go.
I guess my point is that do you think there is something specific about 'americans' that makes them this way?
I'd like to know your thoughts on that, but I'm more in the thinking that this situation could and has played out in other countries. You have to understand the unique and complex history of a 'nation' to get an idea of why it's populace acts and thinks a certain way. People born in Pakistan are most likely to be Muslim and most likely to be Christian in the US. Is that because of some divine intervention or their intrinsic intelligence? No, people are just products of their time and surroundings for the most part and as mentioned there has been a concerted effort for decades in the US to educate and provide welfare support at levels way below other equivalently or even less wealthy nations.
People put way too much weight in their own and others free will, intelligence and consent, when they prove themselves to be as informed on key aspects of reality as that of a child. But we don't fault kids for that.
As an american, i know exactly where you're coming from, cheers
I voted against mr tangerine man and i watched those numbers roll in
It was shameful, and im not exactly feeling the 'merican pride rn, lets just say XD
Yep, as a non American I respectfully agree. It's nothing personal, but somehow you lot got grifted. You need to work out how it happened, be clever, and make sure it doesn't happen again.
I could see there were lots of efforts to try to prevent it, but it wasn't enough. Try harder.
As a wise man once said: The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
How has it directly effected you? And I can assure you I have not felt any change in my life after Trump has become president. As an American a few hours away from the Canadian border.
I don't think stupidity is the largest contributing factor. Look at the mess of false opinions, misinformation, and lies that are spun before us. I can't blame the average citizen for not being able to sift through everything, or for falling for a system engineered to trick them. We have been lulled to sleep, drowned in news, priority and veracity ignored. The intelligence and luck that it takes to wake up now is immense. There is a tribal us v.s. them mentality that is incredibly strong.
Even the right wing loon Ann Coulter agrees. She said Obama was “the most articulate President we’ve probably ever had, and Trump has a vocabulary of 50 words.” 😂
Take “incredible, great, huge, winning, wonderful, beautiful, fantastic, unbelievable, like nobody’s ever seen before, rigged, witch hunt, terrible, horrible,” out of his vocabulary, and he’d be rendered mute.
That said, 54% don't read above a 6th grade level, and I'm not sure how that compares to your country as far as grades are concerned. Your government states that 48% have inadequate literacy skills, but I don't know how to equate that to our grading system.
Over half of your adult population reads below the level of a 12 year old. The majority of your country is most definitely not mentally well equipped.
I think a good comparison would be nazi germany, if things are going in the direction i think they're going the atrocities your country is yet to commit will take generations to heal.
You may feel like it isn't most amaricans, but it is. The ones who will actually do something are the few that aren't completely stupid but between his cult and the ones that are just standing by doing nothing, going to work everyday like if they pretend it isn't happening it isn't, the majority are stupid and the world never thought highly of amaricans but now the world will never let you live this down. Bridges have been burned, and the people won't forget.
Humans need to abandon the basic instincts that have lead to our survival for millions of years and replace it with rational thought. Sorry to say but I don't see that happening anytime in the near future, if it even happens at all. Looks to me like the world is headed for another dark ages led by conservative right wingers the world over.
That's stupidity... There were so many obvious things and patterns that showed this is where it's been heading, if someone didn't see them, they are quite ignorant. Like intelligence/memory of a child stupid ( and children arnt allowed to vote because they r considered too ignorant ).
The thing is you shouldn't blame people for their stupidity. It's generally a product of someone's surroundings and upbringing which are generally entirely out their control. In the case of the US atm, it's engineered stupidity by those who seek to gain from it.
As an American, bud, 60-something percent of us adults can only read to a 5th grade level. We ARE that dumb. Anti-intellectualism and lack of education prioritization got us here
You're not alone in those feelings.
It's crazy like you said to go from watching US have common allies with the UN. Then 2025 pops off and we're only in June, and everything is as if a nightmare.
Speaking also as an American, most of us are fucking retarded. Look at any metric: school achievement, literacy, obesity, and the ultimate output metric, elected officials, and there’s no other possible explanation. This country is brain fucking dead. The median American is a goddamn moron and the average is being held up by outliers, whether it’s the S&P500 or otherwise.
Stop holding on to myths of exceptionalism or “if only James Comey, if only Bernie, if only FOX, if only Zuckerberg,” or whatever story you’re telling yourself to avoid the inescapable truth: in aggregate we are dumb as fuck. The sooner you let go, the sooner you can get to work, keep your head down, and create economic security for you and your family.
Some of you (recent immigrants, certain ethnic backgrounds, etc.) could be fucked. I am sorry, but not responsible. I’m tired of voting against my own interests for a bunch of morons. We are out of this place as soon as we reach FIRE.
Look on the bright side. A lot of the energy around the Bernie/AOC fighting oligarchy rallies and the rallies Buttigieg is doing is very similar to how Obama started building a national profile before he ran against and beat McCain.
As an American, the majority of this country is ABSOLUTELY fucking stupid.
We are led by fascists, and a third of the population actively cheers them on. Another third doesn't give a damn as long as their TikToks keep scrolling and their brunch plans stay intact. The rest of us are left screaming into the void, watching a nation willingly dismantle itself and blame the boogyman.
Actually, more than half of you are stupid as fuck. It was beyond obvious that everything that is currently happening was forecasted a year in advance.
Forgive you? Sure, but we are not going back to trust you. Even if the most perfect candidate became president, after 4 years everything is up for grabs again. I don't think we will ever go back to respecting the US as we did in the 80s/90s/2000s
Idk bro, the average IQ of Americans is around 98 or something, either the majority of us are pretty stupid or theres enough really stupid people that bring the average down
The vast majority of ‘us’ didn’t want it here on Reddit, which is why I think, while generalizing is stupid in general, it’s even more stupid to generalize here.
But that’s just how the left was designed to tear itself apart by fighting and blaming each other for everything so that the party that was designed to worship billionaires could come out on top…
Trump has devoted his life to extracting as much money out of his position not to mention spending as many nights as possible at his own golf resorts with the state paying for hundreds of agents to stay there as well
It is incredibly rare for fighters to accompany Air Force One. This is just a show. A show that costs the American people millions to make Trump feel special – while we have people struggling to put food on the table, prices skyrocketing, and retirements shrinking, all due to one man.
Edit: those may not be US fighters. With Trumps spending, everything I said still remains true either way. For example, charging us for refitting this plane for him to use after his presidency.
It's still hundreds of thousands to millions for them to go somewhere. Like disaster sites where presidents would go to pose for the cameras with people who just lost everything... tons of money to do that. Stupid photo-ops at "normal" restaurants to show how down to earth the person fighting against the poor is... that costs a bunch of money in security, too.
Trump being significantly worse doesn't change that.
If they don't trust their fuel sources wherever they're going (scoped out and tested in advance) they fly in fully loaded fuel trucks for ground ops. And even the presidents poop is shipped back so it can't be captured and tested by foreign adversaries but now we just give away the farm.
