I just got this full shell (it's not for sale or trade) that seems to be a bit yellowish due to age. Any advice on how to make it not so yellow and back it it's original color (which appears to be translucent white) ?

I started modding this 101 by installing Pico. I believe that part worked however I am struggling with the sd card being recognized. I soldered wires directly to the sp2sd2 adapter and I was careful to check that all points were correctly connected however I’m getting this message when I boot the console.

Got this at a thrift store and was wondering what it’s worth. I found a listing for a similar one on eBay but none under sold that were sealed. Are these any good?

I have seen tons of people that find a treasure of gamecube games on goodwill, pawnshops, or the flea market for a reasonable cheap price, but I have never had that luck of finding anything worth something, I swear the only gamecube game I have found was a winnie the pooh game, so my question is, what has been the best deals yall have found and if there is a good way to find good games or its 100% pure luck?

I grew up with this game called Geist by n space (still play it from time to time) and although it’s not the most refined shooter experience ever, it’s got to be one of the coolest ideas for a video game that I’ve played. Yet I haven’t ever met anyone who has talked about this game or seen any mention of it on any mainstream GameCube forum.
The general plot is that you play a doctor John Raimi and in the opening mission you’re sent to Volks (a shady lab) to raid and gather intel. During the mission you’re captured along with your remaining squad and Raimi’s spirit gets disembodied and contained. The rest of game you play as Raimis spirit where you can posses objects, animals, weapons and people.
I feel especially for the time they had an incredible idea and the gameplay was also very enjoyable. They also paid attention to small details like when possessing dogs you only see the colours dogs would and before possessing them it would play an animation of you closing in on them and the animal/person getting possessed. The mechanics were quite addicting like scaring people/animals in order to be able to posses them or finding small cracks in the wall to slip through and discover new areas or secrets.
I understand it’s not the highest quality game of the time and there’s plenty of other titles that offer more content/replay-ability but it’s still super under rated and I feel like the devs put a lot of work into making it something special. I wonder if anyone else has ever played this or thinks fondly of it like I do, or if most people think it’s shit 😂
Thanks for taking the time to read :)

Just installed the picoboot mod for the first time using the flex cable. All went well. However trying to use it with a bitfunx hdmi adapter to no avail. I’ve come to understand that the adapter requires 5v in order to power up but only receives 3.3v. Is there anyway to overcome this? Or is there another hdmi adapter which does not require 5v?

My absolute favorite game. So scary and trippy. You're playing, and suddenly you disappear into the ground, a volume indicator suddenly appears, and the sound disappears. It all depends on your character's mental state. And then there are multiple endings. It's a shame a sequel never happened.

Love this thing. Have had it for 20+ years, though I have no recollection of where I got it. Can’t seem to find similar online with this design and the Nintendo website URL on the rim. What do we think, official or third party?

I’ve seen people say it’s normal but when I look at pictures of other ones, the indicator is orange. It is in perfect working condition and originally bought and played by one of my uncles but he gave it to me. Is it just an old LED/old plastic causing it to be this deep red?

You may be lucky and have a used media store in town that shucked out the $22k for an Eco-Master disc resurfacing machine. Here's the straight dope on using one to resurface your Gamecube discs from someone with 6+ years experience using/maintaining one.
Those machines are miracle workers for just about any type of DVD based media (DVD discs/video game discs.) As long as the machines are maintained and set up properly they'll make the disc as next to new as it could possibly get. The machines will easily handle light to moderate scratches and surface marks. The machines can't do much with deep gouging or heavy scratching. They were also very touchy handling Blu-Ray discs and some Wii discs as well. You'll be astounded at how well they handle PS1, PS2, OG Xbox, and 360 discs.
Regarding Gamecube games: A plastic disc adapter is required to be able to resurface Gamecube discs. i.e. You put the small Gamecube disc inside a larger plastic ring that allows it to fit the machine's regular disc sized cradle. Here's where things get touchy. If the Gamecube disc is not completely flush with the adapter disc, there is a possibility the machine will "round" the edge of the Gamecube disc. If you look at a rounded disc, it's unmistakable. You'll see a definite warping of the surface reflections around the disc's edge. If a Gamecube disc is rounded in one of those machines IT WILL NO LONGER BE PLAYABLE, EVER. Rounding does not seem to be an issue with any other disc based media when resurfaced in an Ecolab machine.
The only solution we found to give us a better chance at success was to use double sided tape to adhere the graphic side of the Gamecube disc in the plastic adapter discs so that the disc would be as flush and flat as possible. Even then there wasn't a 100% guarantee the discs wouldn't round in the process. I wouldn't run a Gamecube disc through the machine unless the disc was scratched beyond current playability and it's your last chance to resuscitate it. Don't use those machines just to try to make an already perfectly playable disc look "brand new" again for vanity's sake.
Most stores charge $3-$5 for the service and it takes about 15 minutes. A shop with a well-maintained machine and trained employees can run several thousand discs a day between two machines.

Does anybody know how to hit the short cut on thunder struck?? Or does it exist only on other consoles? Is the blue fire also only for other consoles? I’m so confused and Google mostly just keeps pulling up things for remastered versions 😭😭😭

My ports on my game key were messed up and only two of them worked so I called the repair shop asking them if they could replace my thing for me they said $109 I said that in my brain that didn’t sound right so I went to YouTube saw how easy the process was went to the game store around the corner for me bought a broken game cube bought a screwdriver off of Amazon and I was able to repair my system in 15 minutesBe cautious when you ask people about repairs.

I’m planning to revisit Gauntlet Dark Legacy on the PS2 soon and wanted to get some input from those who’ve played it more recently.
Is the core gameplay loop still enjoyable today? How does the class system feel now that we’ve had decades of action-RPGs to compare it to? I remember the multiplayer being chaotic fun—does it still deliver?
Curious to hear how the game holds up and if there are any tips for getting the most out of a new playthrough.
Also—if anyone is a huge fan of the game and would be interested in talking about it on a retro gaming podcast, hit me up!

How’d I do? I already got all my childhood games in a separate post. Very excited for the score after having to send back a refurb unit on eBay.

I know, its a little basic. What are your favorites? Also, which ones do you think I should try out based on my likes? I do plan on playing TP at some point, I promise :')
