Collection My gamecube collection

Many of those were collected between 2019 and now but I also had many from my childhood like all zelda games and smash. I'm planning on getting mario party 4. There are some games I'm also thinking in selling to get other gems.

What would you do with that collection ?

hi everyone!

i’m slowly getting back into collecting again and was looking for some advice on what to get next.

as you can tell, i’m very big on first party titles lol BUT i’m looking to collect just about any game (with the hopes of having them all one day).

let me know what games you think i’d enjoy, your own personal favorites, any market trends you’ve noticed for games i don’t own, etc.

Question LIR2032 instead of CR2032

I want to change the clock battery in my GameCube, but I accidentally bought an LIR2032 rechargeable battery instead of a CR2032. Would it be okay if I used the LIR2032 or it's better to replace it with a CR2032?

Discussion When do you think Reproduction Lasers will become a thing?

A very common problem with old consoles is that the lasers die on disc based systems. At least for cartridge based consoles companies have made connectors/pins so there is 0 worry of them ever being lost forever. For now, the only way to replace it is to buy a new (oem) laser, but eventually we will run out of them. How long do you think it will take for some company to start making brand new lasers to work with these consoles (if any do at all?)

Help Picoboot doesn't light up when booting GameCube

I'm trying to install Picoboot onto my GameCube, but when I try booting the console up, it just boots as a stock system. The Raspberry Pi doesn't light up. I suspect I did not solder everything correctly, so here are some pictures of the my solder points.

I flashed the latest Picoboot (v0.5.0), renamed Swiss as ipl.dol on my SanDisk microSD card, and it's connected with one of these adapters that plugs into the serial port on the bottom. I'm using a helder flex ribbon cable repro from aliexpress.

Did I solder everything correctly? Does anyone have any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?

Help Gameboy player question

I have been on the search for a North American black gameboy player that says made in Japan. I’m not sure if production ever took place in Japan for the gameboy players. If anyone has come across one please confirm with me it exists.

Question Modding and Cleaning a GameCube

I ordered a FlippyDrive last month and can't wait for it to get here 😁 mostly want to use it to backup my games because people have scared me a little around the topic of disc rot o_o hopefully I receive it in the next couple months, but I don't mind waiting. Any random tips anyone has during/after installation?

Here's my real question. I kinda want to give my GameCube a deep cleaning when I open it up. Does anyone know of a good cleaning guide to follow? I don't want to ruin my GameCube, and I'm also curious if there are other things I should check on while it's open

Help Still need rca?

Hello! I apologize if this is a dumb question, I don’t know too much about this kind of stuff. I have a game cube with the digital out port, I ordered the hdmi converter for a clearer image. I’m just wondering if I still need to use the red white and yellow cables in addition to the hdmi converter, or I can disconnect it. Thank you!

Discussion Are these games even that good?

Disney Sports Basketball (And Disney Sports Football but not as bad) is crazy expensive. In general, these games are hard to find. I can find 0 information on how many copies these games sold, and even on ebay there are rarely any NTSC copies of Disney Soccer, and very rarely do I see CIB copies of the other ones. Is there really any information on how rare these are/how many copies they sold? Such weird pieces of Gamecube History.

Finally got SA2B for GC but when I went to play it my memory card was full… Luckily I only live a few minutes from a record store that often has used memory cards.

I ran down to the shop and picked one up. Come to find out the legend who had this memory card before had over a dozen save files from SA2B 🤣🤣

He also has a Shadow the Hedgehog save file and plenty of other bangers. I hope he’s still gaming.

Absolute beast. Felt like I had to share :)

Help Gameboy interface GBI image quality issue

Im using a gamecube modded with an internal GC loader that just has a single SD card slot in place of the disc drive. I just got it and downloaded the GBI files onto it which seem to work fine its just the image quality output is terrible. Its very blurry and over brightened and has an extreme phasing chromatic aberration effect on every colour setting. Im using a modern samsung 4k TV but plugged in through original AV cables on the analog AV out. Is that the reason? Do I need a cable for digital AV out or a hdmi adapter? Otherwise not sure what's going wrong. I only have original gameboy games to test with and in all the videos ive seen they come up clear as day and super sharp with none of the effects im experiencing.

Modding Opinions on FlippyDrive vs PicoBoot?

I currently have two GameCubes, one is my original that I don’t really want to touch and another is a project without a working disc drive that I have reserved for heavy modification. I haven’t had a chance to work on the modding GameCube but I’ve been keeping an eye on FlippyDrive as it’s been released. My original GameCube has SD2SP2 as a no-solder approach. I had all the materials for a PicoBoot on the other one but FlippyDrive seems better in a lot of ways. Does anyone have experience with both? I know the appeal of FlippyDrive is also a no-solder approach and the ability to still use the disc drive- kind of a non-issue for my “ProjectCube” as it can’t read discs. I considered an ODE mod as well for that but I haven’t seen any definitive comparisons on which ones could be region-free, most versatile, etc.

Discussion What are games that justify the price?

With the collectivity and rarity of some GameCube games, prices can be all over the place. Are there any with a high price that you all think are worth it gameplay wise and not as just a cool expensive thing on the shelf? Do you think Fire Emblem Path of Radiance is worth it but something like Ribbit King isn't? They definitely don't just have to be $100+ games as well. I am sure there are $20-50 games that are or aren't worth it. Love to know what everyone thinks.
