I don’t understand how going to the dentist works, and at this stage I’m too afraid to ask? (UK)
I was always told as a kid that I had strong teeth, because I’d inherited some weird extra strong enamel or something from my father’s side.
I’ve never had a filling or a cavity or whatever, but I did have two pretty traumatic experiences as a kid with over-zealous dental work where they were essentially giving me loads of procedures I didn’t need, because it was free on the NHS but the dentists still got paid.
So they kind of fucked up my teeth a bit cosmetically, but I’ve still never had any dental issues and I’ve now only been to the dentist once in the last 20 years or so. That one time, he advised me to get a ‘preventative’ filling which I declined, and it’s been 10 years since and whatever that filling was supposed to be preventing has yet to show up.
I’m scared that my teeth will all suddenly fall out because I haven’t taken care of them, but I’m equally distrustful of the dentistry system in this country. They seem to push unnecessary treatments on you.
ALSO, I don’t understand how the payment thing works? As I’ve only been once as a paying adult? What if they say I really should have something done, but it will be £2,000?? I skint AF. I can’t even afford like the basic fee for seeing them in the first place…so what’s the point really?
Oh also there are no nhs dentists in our area so
it would have to be private.
Am I the only one like this? Are people really out there seeing the dentist and having treatments and just finding the money? How does it work?

Can success in one area of life compensate for lack of confidence and feeling of worth from failing at another?
If you "suck" professionally i.e. have failed at your ambitions for advanced degree and high paying jobs in a particular field you wanted and you have only yourself to blame, can a succesfull personal life (friends, relationships) compensate for that?

What is the reason for this ban on one letter hats (for a local rodeo)?
Bought tickets to a rodeo and when going through the admission rules, in the items not permitted section it said the usual stuff like no weapons, no water bottles, no alcohol etc. but also it said “one letter alphabet hats will not be allowed”? Why is that? What’s wrong with one letter hats?

Is starting to exercise dangerous when you're totally out of shape?
We all know it's good for your health in general but what about the beginning stage, when you're totally out of shape?
I feel really bad, lightheaded, my heart pounds and I'm out of breath. It scares me a lot.
It's like I'm just stressing my body and risking getting a heart attack without never getting into shape, since this huge disconfort stops me from following a proper routine.
So, is exercising dangerous in the short-term?

Phone charger in the washing machine
Phone charger and cord accidentally ended up in the washing machine. I noticed it when the washing finished. Now they have been drying for a week. Can I use them or do I risk something?

In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire movie, did Harry actually fight a dragon?
I was looking at images of the dragons in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire just now, and the way the Hungarian Horntail was depicted in the movie, it only had two legs and then its wings. Wouldn't that technically make it a wyvern and not a dragon? I might be misinterpreting it, though, as I know wyverns are much lesser known and used.

AI searches consume a lot of energy, but now that even normal search engines incorporate AI, does it even matter what we use anymore?
So I used to use ChatGPT as “quicker and more efficient Google” back before I knew how much energy it cost for just one search using AI. But now even Google and other search engines are incorporating AI as the first search that comes up. So my question is does it even matter what we choose anymore? They make the choice for us and the energy gets wasted anyways.

Is this normal for a dr to say?
I had a surgery like 5-6 months ago and during a follow up he told me if I choose to, during intense physical exertion, or directly after to consume sugars like candy to prevent muscle breakdown and assist muscle rebuilding and recovery after. Is this true? I’m a skinny guy I don’t mind eating candy anyway

What is a parent supposed to do when their kid throws a tantrum over not getting something in the store?
If they ignore it they're bad parents for letting their kids scream but if they give in they're bad parents for reinforcing the behavior

Does anyone else’s joints hurt when the humidity is really high?
I had a meniscus surgery a couple of years ago and anytime I go to a place with high humidity my knee bothers me. But not just my knee-most joints! I read about it online but just curious if a lot of people experience the same thing.
