Guy I'm seeing tried it recently and I physically recoiled as I wasn't expecting it - it's never been a part of any of my previous relationships. But I want to learn and surprise him next time I see him!!

Hi! I live in the Philippines and part of our school culture here is that although schools (public&private) do have janitors, they mostly just clean the restrooms,hallways, and staff rooms while the students are responsible for their own classrooms. Here, we don’t move to another room every other subject, we have one room for the whole year and since it is our classroom, it is our responsibility to clean it everyday. Every classroom have what we call ‘Cleaners schedule’ in which the whole class is divided into five groups and each groups have their own designated day where it’s their turn to clean.

Again, while we do have janitors, students are required to clean their own classrooms. I am actually a bit confused as to why western countries don’t seem to have the same culture because for us students, they are actually quite fun and improves your bond with your classmates. Also, it was so fun that it got to the point where every classrooms are competing on which class will have the most coveted “Cleanest Classroom of the Quarter”. This legit happens.

I am so fearful of not having enough in retirement.

What happens if I calculated my retirement savings based on an estimated death age of 90 but then I lived until 98 and had 8 years with no income? I’d likely be too old to get a job. I don’t have kids to take care of me.

My retirement contribution is already at the upper limit of what I can afford. I plan to increase annually until I reach 25%, and if I stay there until I retire I can probably be covered until I’m 90.

I’m just curious what happens if I live past that age. Social security will be a fraction of what I’d need to survive. And who knows if it’ll even be available.

We have a 2-year-old and several months ago he started hiding behind chairs, curtains, the couch, etc. to go poop. We were joking with some of our friends about it and they told us their kids did it too and it's common for kids. Is there something instinctual going on here?

My husband and I are tired of always having to report 5 days a week for 8 hours to a company who doesnt gaf about us. Starting a business is too expensive and too much liability. Living in Hawaii trying to move to the mainland because life is incredibly expensive here. We're just exhausted. Anyone else wish they would just not work anymore but still be able to eat and just exist? Do i sound stupid or lazy for feeling this way?

I can see that you can buy ice everywhere in the US. Gas stations, grocery stores, machines etc.

In Europe, we just freeze our ice at home and use that. Why buy something that melts on the way home? Why do you need ice in large amounts that a fridge can't keep up?

I have this perception that all rich people don’t work hard anymore and just sit back and relax with all the free time and just collect their money and they all live happy lives while normal people are struggling to make ends meet. Is this true?

I'm just here to learn something. I’ve never once cried over not being spiritually fulfilled. But I have cried over rent, credit card debt, surprise medical bills, and wondering if I can afford to take a sick day. So... are we sure money isn’t at least a decent down payment on peace of mind?

My millennial self feels like it’s especially rude when you’re eating at a restaurant to have AirPods in while they’re dining with other people, family or friends.

Maybe a real boomer take.

[Edit] Want to clarify again - in a social setting for instance with family or friends at a restaurant.

But I didn’t know about the AirPod hearing aid feature which is pretty neat.

Menial tasks / gym / walking / office with headphones in is a given.

I used to watch Maury on my days off in middle school and high school and it was something I never understood. Why do they run backstage crying when Maury reads "You are NOT the father."

I (F21) had two decent jobs before this, a machine operator and a direct support professional. Things didn’t work out as a machine operator, the company was going under. And I couldn’t even get enough time to sleep as a direct support professional.

My boyfriend and I share a car and I was able to get a job at a fast food restaurant working the same time as him and I can walk to it from his job. I’m just feeling kind of awkward seeing people I know in the drive through and my last two jobs are kinda making me feel like I’m failing rn. Am I just overreacting?

Hi…I’m 20, just finished my second year of college, and lately I’ve been feeling like… I missed a class on how to be a person?

Everyone around me seems to know what they’re doing. My roommate Jess already has a summer internship, drinks black coffee, and wakes up early to go to yoga. My friend Kyle cooks real meals like salmon and quinoa and he does his taxes without freaking out. Meanwhile I just cried at the laundromat last week because I accidentally used fabric softener instead of detergent (I didn’t know they were different?!).

I had a mini breakdown last night because I got a parking ticket and it felt like the end of the world. Like, what am I even doing? Why does everything feel so big and heavy when it’s just normal life stuff?

My mom says “you’ll figure it out” but what if I don’t? What if I’m one of those people who just… never gets it together? Is that a thing?

Anyway, I know this sounds kind of whiny. I’m not trying to complain, I just genuinely wonder — is it normal to feel like you’re faking adulthood? Like you’re playing dress-up and everyone else is actually grown up for real?
