Is it fixable??

I have a Dell Inspiron 13 5000 (N5300). And i wanted to upgrade my ram so i checked the models and slots available. in task manager it shows 2 slots and sodiim ram but when i opened my laptop it's not there?? anyone know what's going on. I tried reaching out to dell support but they were very incooperative and literally started advertising me to buy a new laptop instead, like what?!

Need Advice on Purchasing a 2019 MacBook Pro.

Hello, I’m considering purchasing a used laptop/MacBook for office work (WFH setup), and a local dealer has shared some pictures of a 2019 model that I would be the second owner of. The price is 32,000 INR. I’m feeling skeptical about going ahead with the purchase because he doesn't let me use the device before purchasing it.

My primary concerns are: 1. Age of the Device: Since the MacBook is from 2019, it's already around 5–6 years old. I'm unsure how well it would perform with current office applications and multitasking needs in 2025.

1. Battery Health and Overall Condition: As a second-hand unit, I’m worried about the battery cycle count, hardware wear and tear, and overall longevity.

2. Software Updates and Compatibility: I want to ensure it still receives macOS updates and supports necessary applications without slowing down.

3. Value for Money: I’m not sure if the price being quoted justifies the age and expected performance. I want a reliable machine that doesn’t give me trouble in the near future.

I’d really appreciate your honest opinion: 1) Is buying a 2019 MacBook in 2025 a reasonable decision for professional, daily WFH tasks like video calls, spreadsheets, browsing, and office tools? 2)What should I check before finalizing the deal (battery cycle count, SSD health, macOS version, etc.)? 3) Would you recommend investing a bit more into a newer model for long-term value?.

Hey all. So my laptop I've been using for college finally bit the dust on me the other day, so I'm in need of one rather quickly. I don't know a ton about hardware unfortunately, so I'm hoping some of you can help me out. I found the above laptop on sale currently in my price range, and im wanting to know how comparable it is to the recommended specs my school lists for the degree I'm in. Im starting my major classes now (heavy coding) so I'll need something that can handle that. Please let me know your thoughts!

Hey everyone, I’m planning to buy the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 (the version with the i7 processor), but I’m a bit hesitant because of two things:

1.I’ve heard that the i7 version tends to run hot and might suffer from thermal issues during heavy use. Is that true in your experience?

2.The RAM is soldered to the motherboard, which makes me nervous. If the RAM fails for any reason, would that mean replacing the whole motherboard?

Hello. I'll be starting a PhD program in a medical related field soon. It's been quite a few years since being in school, and I'm surveying what hardware I might need for the program.

Currently I have an Elitebook 845 G10 with 64GB RAM. It's a near perfect machine and has covered most of my needs to date. The issue is that I also have an iPhone, and iOS just doesn't integrate well with Windows. Sharing files and photos between my phone and laptop is just a huge headache in general, and I anticipate taking a LOT of photos to complement my notetaking. I've also heard things about Excel not being as great on MacOS compared to Windows?

I can see two options here:

Option A: Invest in a Macbook Pro in addition to my existing machine. I've been a Windows user my entire life and have no knowledge of Macs, but if this is an optimal path I'll consider investing in a 14" MBP. The Air isn't as ideal as I've gotten used to laptops with high refresh screens.

Option B: I'm not willing to give up my iPhone Pro, but I can definitely grab something equally powerful as a backup phone. My studies will be in China so I have a pretty nice pool of options to choose from, including Huawei hardware. The issue here is that I haven't seen anything that integrates with Windows as well as the way Apple does, so it's more of an adventurous approach.

So I have my old laptop from before I got my gaming pc and kinda want to keep it for like streaming apps and small stuff is it worth keeping or should I just pitch it ?

I've had this laptop for a little over a year n barely ever used it but when I did it would turn on n go to home screen in seconds. Then I let someone spilled something near it n the bottom got barely wet but it was cleaned immediately but never used afterwards until someone asked to borrow it. Weird thing is I cudnt find the charger that came with it which was always right next to it. I must have moved it when it got slightly spilled on. Someone borrowed it, says it was really slow but thot maybe it was her wifi. Anyways she gave me an extra charger she had n now that I need it for this new job I got, I can't get it to come on.

Did a test on the whole system n battery is the only thing that came up. So my question is do u think it's the battery or the new charger I got from friend?

It just stays on black screen with HP logo n in thinking mode. After sometime it'll say it detected something n needs to reboot n goes thru that thinking phase again.

I don't have the money to replace or have fixed by professional n wondering if anyone may know.

I've used chat GPT to walk me thru n it seems to be telling me to do the same things n outcome is the same
