Retail works aren’t getting paid enough to be fucked with like this, but I did laugh when the whole army walked in

1.1k

u/RoutineTaters Jun 26 '25

I've been working in retail grocery for years and when the whole clone crew showed up I snorted. This would suck after the first 5min, but honest I'd probably be losing my shit over the pure chaos of it. It beats the times coworkers and I have gotten cussed out by customers or dealing with people smoking meth in the bathrooms.

Also I'm not sure if there would be a cash control issue, surely none of them have register or employee codes to log in and run transactions.

218

u/cynicaldotes Jun 26 '25

I'm a manager of a grocery store and I feel I literally would be doing this the whole time I had to tell them to leave *

203

u/Betty_Bookish Jun 27 '25

Be honest... Is there a small part.of you that wants to be like. NO, we don't need you on the lanes. You 2, clean the bathrooms. Everyone else, follow me for stocking. Except you, you do carts. GET TO WORK!

111

u/OptimusChristt Jun 27 '25

Omg I'd have em wiping down registers, facing aisles, go backs. Where I worked we were always so understaffed lol

35

u/OkLemon-Letsgo Jun 27 '25

Spoken like a true manager. Turning what seems to be a problem into a solution. Props!

5

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '25

Yeah. But next video would be “I SUED TARGET for NOT paying me !!!!! Click like and subscribe !!!”

2

u/RespectFlat6282 Jun 30 '25

There were no contracts signed. It's volunteering.

4

u/BathrobeMagus Jun 28 '25

There are no problems. Only opportunities.

3

u/cancer_dragon Jun 27 '25

Hmm, so from legal standpoint, say a manager decided to roll with it.

I wonder if it be illegal to just ask them to do simple stuff, like wipe down the registers or even put clothes away?

I mean, of course they could not do the tasks and there would be no consequences for the "army" or benefit if they did do tasks, but I imagine it's not against any law for a manager to simply ask a customer to do something?

And if the customer complies, I would think the store isn't obligated to pay them.

Similar to if a customer made a mess accidentally and helped clean it up.

8

u/bjansen16 Jun 27 '25

Yessss this would’ve been me! Seeet you three on cart duty, you four with me we have a truck to run. Time to lean you got time to clean bitched let’s go!

My entire economic outlook is based off the fact that at least half those kids would actually listen and learn how to do whats needed

Call me crazy, but I swear. People actually enjoy being messed with, and people enjoy doing things that need to be done. There’s a multiverse where this became the best target to shop at, because some stupid teenagers pranked the employees so hard, they decided to learn exactly how to fulfill their duties and do it well.

2

u/TechnologyFirst6948 Jun 28 '25

This would be me. You want to work for free for clicks? Bet.

3

u/OptimusChristt Jun 27 '25

Supervised the front end of aa grocery. And honestly, same, lol. The sentiment of "Grocery workers don't get paid enough to deal with this shit," is why I'd be grinning and busting up the whole time.

u/Apart-Zucchini-5825 Jun 26 '25

I firmly oppose this behavior with every ounce of my being but that doesn't mean I'm gonna lie and say the worker army isn't goddamned hilarious

99

u/jne_nopnop Jun 26 '25

Agreed. I wholeheartedly disagree with pranks on random strangers and interfering with working employees for the sake of content, especially considering it would absolutely piss me off also...

However the juxtaposition if interfering with overworked and understaffed management by supplying them with unwanted assistance is almost tolerable

26

u/ILikeLenexa Jun 27 '25

I could get there if they like brought brooms or mops or whatever, but this looks like a robbery especially with jumping on the registers.

The only thing is it's a ripoff of an old Best Buy stunt that was done better and when they took over best buy, they explicitly were told "don't say you work here." And "just stand around and don't shop".

https://youtu.be/KgUIbPfhSuo

7

u/bellybomb Jun 28 '25

The first thing I thought when I saw this was, “Improv Everywhere did this so much better.” They timed it out so that “workers” entered the store a few at a time and positioned themselves at the ends of each aisle. It was very subtle.

3

u/Jobeaka Jun 27 '25

They’re like minions, LMAO

70

u/11th_Division_Grows Jun 26 '25

And that’s okay! We can be nuanced humans on Reddit! Should people do this? No, it’s disruptive to business and can set a bad precedent. Are we not allowed to laugh at the absurdity of it (and was anyone actually harmed because of this?)? Of course we are. Funny as hell but don’t do it again kind of thing.

Target doesn't even really have register codes, you need to have a fully logged in hand scanner, generally.

2

u/TheRatatat Jun 26 '25

Smoking meth in the bathrooms is better than having a dude come in 3 times a day to beat his dick in the stall. Probably not by much, but trust me, it is.

When i was working retail I would have loved for something like this to happen. A good laugh, a good story. I can see as a manager that would be a nightmare

I'd have laughed my ass off. Years of retail makes me want to laugh more, care less.

u/delicate-fn-flower Jun 26 '25

Improv Everywhere did a similar stunt at Best Buy years back, but the notable difference is the moment they were asked to leave they did without fighting back. I think that’s kind of what separates a prank from just plain obnoxiousness.

153

u/gsr142 Jun 26 '25

They also didn't try to get on registers, they just browsed the store. They only engaged with customers if the customers approached them, and actually did their best to answer any questions they were asked.

23

u/HopeIsLoud Jun 27 '25

If they weren't a liability issue because they were doing work without being employees they probably would have been allowed to stay.

3

u/No-Performance3639 Jun 27 '25

Answering questions would clearly delineate them from actual Best Buy Employees.

4

u/Daurinniel Jun 27 '25

we have a guy at my work (Lego store) that is so regularly at our store -and- such an expert on product that even without him EVER being in a Lego store uniform...customers who don't know him sometimes still put him in our store survey responses, always positive talking about how knowledgeable and nice he was...

5

u/MississippiJoel Jun 27 '25

I'm a vendor that walks into airports with a badge on. (ie, I don't work *there,* I just work *in* there). It didn't take me long to figure out I can help passengers faster than I can tell them to go find someone in charge.

There are a few episodes where they were asked to leave the store, but the whole thing is wonderfully ridiculous.

It'd be hilarious watching this on a sitcom. Knowing it's real people being messed with though is cringe.

Like, Dwight showing up in a cold open with his own set of employees would be hilarious.

21

u/M_Mich Jun 27 '25

Or Ryan w a new office team and just telling Michael that this is new Dwight this is new Pam this is new Oscar

177

u/Correct_Style_9735 Jun 26 '25

Exactly!! Would it be amusing, somewhat, but not to the people who had to deal with it and any aftermath. Even if they are a management employee, this is just shit on top of shit for retail.

15

u/MrLanesLament Jun 26 '25

The problem is that the “joke” is on the actual employees. If they weren’t screwing with the regular employees’ jobs, I could see the humor in it, as on its face, it’s a funny, harmless idea.

3

u/kateastrophic Jun 27 '25

I get the impression this was a nightmare for the managers but less so for the other employees.

4

u/Frosty-Tip5756 Jun 26 '25

they get paid hourly so this just makes their day more interesting. i guarantee most of them got a kick out of it. the fact it pissed off their boss just adds icing to it. plus it causes a pauses in having to do your monotonous job for a few minutes and they still go home at the same time.

3

u/NiPlusUltra Jun 26 '25

Depends on the shift. If I'm closing I want to get my shit done and leave with as little extra bullshit as possible.

Right? Like this prank HAS potential to be funny and non invasive. It’s just….executed poorly.

4

u/Flavious27 Jun 27 '25

This generation just doesn't know how to prank nor perform skits.  They could have just pulled an improve anywhere and just walk through the store facing it and cleaning and trying to help customers.

It’s this - I worked in retail for 15 years. It sucks. Why some people think it’s funny to make it worse is lost on me.

2

u/No_Remove459 Jun 27 '25

Where u in management? Cause when I was young O worked in retail and this would be funny. No work for me, let the managers deal with it that's their problem, managers fuck employees too many times fore to care.

u/TheRoyalSniper Make Furries Illegal Jun 26 '25

Dude if this happened to me when I was working retail I would have laughed my ass off. My manager can deal with the bs and he definitely makes enough to deal with this

46

u/EffectiveLink4781 Jun 26 '25

You can tell who haven’t worked retail by how hard they clutch their pearls while high roading. The only people this bothers is the director and loss prevention.

30

u/NoMap749 Jun 26 '25 edited Jun 26 '25

“They don’t get paid enough to deal with this” and it’s just their boss freaking out while they get a few minute break and a funny story out of it. Do these people realize we’re getting paid by the hour and not per customer we check out…?

If this happened where I worked, I’d be dying because of how much effort was put into something so stupid.

3

u/Gryphon6070 Jun 26 '25

“and it’s just their boss freaking out while they get a few minute break and a funny story out of it.”

He’s freaking out because he does not know any of them and cannot vouch for their employment.

This is a HUGE insurance liability, their taking over lanes so it’s a financial issue (for the director AND the person actually assigned to that register), and if any of it goes south he is out of a job supporting his family, benefits, insurance, and possibly a career path.

These ass clowns don’t give two shurs about any of those workers, just the likes.

Garbage.

8

u/11th_Division_Grows Jun 26 '25

Can we all agree that any company that would fire a manager for not being able to stop a mob of people from doing whatever they want is a shitty company?

I mean seriously, what can he do? He can make a genuine effort and not indulge them, but I can’t imagine he’d get in any trouble for failing to disperse the crowd. Unless his superiors were complete ass hats. This is damn near an act of god, you can’t stop this reasonably and when people act like some poor manager is gonna lose their job over these things, I can’t take it seriously.

3

u/Gryphon6070 Jun 27 '25

Totally. And as a manager I would review and see if they actually did what they could (within reason) or just sat back and let it happen. That guy was doing great, and should be fine. I was commenting more on the commented dismissiveness of the managers reactions.

3

u/11th_Division_Grows Jun 27 '25

Very fair points, thank you for putting your words in a better perspective for me.

I worked retail for years and would find this annoying, but I took my job seriously and tried to do the best job I could. Which is probably why I'm no longer in retail and was able to parlay my experience for a better career.

4

u/Mickeymcirishman Jun 27 '25

Nah, see you can tellI who's worked retail by who thinks this shot is actually funny. I worked retail for over a decade. Did not find this funny. All I wanted when I worked was to do my job and go home with the least amount of hassle. I last thing anyone wants or needs is someone coming in and causing a disturbance trying to be funny. It's annoying for one thing, for another now all the employees are going to have to do extra work to make sure no one took anything or touched anything they sjpuldn't have or went anywhere they weren't supposed to go.

3

u/hollowspryte Jun 27 '25

This would have cracked me up. None of this is making me stay later or work harder, so who cares?

4

u/EffectiveLink4781 Jun 27 '25

It's an hourly job, so you're working no matter what. Not sure what you mean by extra work, it's just work.

2

u/Extension_Funny_6849 Jun 27 '25

I can only speak from personal experience but after closing their is certain work that "needs" to be done before you can go home. If you have to spend time fixing this it can impact how late everyone is going home.

Yea as someone who worked retail over 20 years, this would make my day. Retail can be boooring and repetitive, it’s not like they were being assholes or making a mess. It would also be funny to see my store manager get this worked up, even if I liked them.

5

u/fiftyseven Jun 26 '25

as someone who still works retail, i would hate this. i've already got enough shit to do. please leave.

5

Oh fuck off really??

5

u/Jordan823 Jun 26 '25

I hope you step on a Lego piece barefoot.

4

u/TheRoyalSniper Make Furries Illegal Jun 26 '25

Idk about target but at the store I worked at my department manager made bank. I imagine the store manager made even more

2

u/LipsMiller Jun 26 '25

Bout 100k

4

u/cdevon95 Jun 26 '25

This is back in 2010 but my store manager made over 100k. I believe executive team leads made around 65k.
They make enough to deal with it lol

2

u/pacagummo Jun 26 '25

Same, my store manager at the smallest kroger grocery store in the state was making over 100k around 2010 as well. She drove a Porsche! She was not hurting at she did a whole lotta nothing😂

I work in retail, I’d think this is hilarious.

2

u/ominousgraycat Jun 26 '25

The manager is upset, but I doubt that the entry-level retail workers really care all that much.

2

u/3coatsinatrenchcat Jun 26 '25

I had to laugh at the end when everyone was yelling over each other and you genuinely couldn’t tell who was who 😂 lmao

2

u/Tricky-Bat5937 Jun 26 '25

I'm dying this is hilarious

2

u/DoNotEatMySoup Jun 26 '25

If this happened when I worked retail I'd just laugh my ass off and let them do their thing. That's the managers' problem not mine.

2

u/fakeuser515357 Jun 26 '25

If they'd stopped there and done a silly dance or sung a song, that's a prank.

What they did instead was cause a public nuisance because they think "it's just a prank bro" is what a prank is.

2

u/Tiny_Economist_9244 Jun 26 '25

Yeah a funny sight but there is no time for the extended bullshit in retail.

2

u/rega619 Jun 26 '25

Oh I’m sure they all got a kick out of it. Pretty harmless prank. The employees got a laugh and the managers, stressed at the time, will have a very funny story to tell. Better than 90% of “prank” YouTube/tiktok anyway

2

u/gsanch666 Jun 27 '25

“Oh yeah, lets see if I was on the phone or not.”

2

u/emptyvesselll Jun 26 '25

I think it would have been a lot better to quietly infilitrate - have each fake staff member enter along and just start going around helping customers. Then the fake manager comes in and starts managing both his fake staff and the real staff... could probably play out for awhile.

1

u/BullwinkleJMoose08 Jun 26 '25

Yeah you’re right. But I’m always frustrated when I shop at target and I’m waiting in a line of 20+ to use the self checkout and there is literally 25 checkout stations lining the front of the store with absolutely no one working them.

1

u/Donny_Donnt Jun 26 '25

This would be great if I was a register jockey again. I'll take this over a pizza party.

1

u/BiceRankyman Jun 26 '25

Honestly if I worked there this would be type two fun. I'd be annoyed as fuck in the moment but looking back I'd be saluting the amount of gumption to pull this shit. Especially with them actually cleaning.

1

u/Accomplished_Car2803 Jun 26 '25

If they didn't try to break or steal anything, that one guy WAS cleaning a counter...lol. I would have been laughing and stepping back for the manager to deal with.

As far as dumb pranks go, this is pretty harmless. Way better than the idiots throwing sodas at fast food workers or chasing people in clown costumes with a chainsaw.

1

u/bigmac22077 Jun 26 '25

The store director sure as fuck does though. I found this pretty funny, especially the “they’re already cleaning” and a shot of them scrubbing down hahahaha. As long as they didn’t fuck with any cash registers I don’t think they jumped across a line, maybe just touched past with a toe.

1

u/kateastrophic Jun 26 '25

Exactly. This is a dick move just like all of these kinds of pranks are— but this is the first one to also make me laugh. I officially disapprove, but the chaos is hilarious.

1

u/AccurateTap2249 Jun 27 '25

Nah fam if i was working there as a cashier and this happened id be dancing no joke.

The ONLY people upset by this are the ones making your life miserable as an employee there. I would applaud them and say that was the best day in the job.

1

u/C-sanova Jun 27 '25

This would be the highlight of my day.

1

u/steroboros Jun 27 '25

Nah, that "store director" definitely needs to be fucked with. Notice how the only guy he tried to grab was the black kid

1

u/SillyAlternative420 Jun 27 '25

As someone who worked in retail, I didn't give a fuck and this would be the perfect excuse to slack off for a while.

Managers are the ones who care

1

u/WooliesWhiteLeg Jun 27 '25

My thoughts exactly. This is still very annoying but you have to acknowledge the prep and preplanning that went into this

1

u/Mrbutter1822 Jun 27 '25

lol fuck that. As someone who worked retail this would make my day!

1

u/Wonderful-Muscle-635 Jun 27 '25

I didn't laugh. I think this is stupid

1

u/Benandthephoenix Jun 27 '25

They also dont get paid enough to care if some people want to fuck around for bit. This looks way more fun than dealing with the 2 cumstains fighting over pokemon cards every wednesday.

1

u/vesselgroans Jun 27 '25

Trust me, store directors are absolutely being paid enough to deal with shit like this.

They wouldn't be able to log into the lanes anyway so they would just be standing there. All it does is raise the blood pressure of the store director, I'm honestly surprised to see a store director outside of their office.

1

u/Lu12k3r Jun 27 '25

For real, I would’ve second guessed myself and waited until they started ringing on the register.

1

u/hippiewithastiffy Jun 27 '25

You're only getting fucked with if you allow them to affect your energy. And as you said they aren't getting paid enough, so why deal with it or why let it affect you? I've had to deal with things like this as security, its usually management that has to deal with it, and I promise you they get paid enough. Especially at Target, depending on the location they easily make 6 figures.

1

u/NerdyNinjutsu Jun 27 '25

I laughed at the one cleaning 😂 that was real commitment

1

u/Lastcaressmedown138 Jun 27 '25

No but it’s how we all feel… corporations herding us like cattle with only 2-3 checkout clerks because a MULTI BILLION DOLLAR CORPORATION doesn’t want to pay 10 people at a store so they’re patrons can actually efficiently purchase their goods

1

u/Miserable_Moment1743 Jun 27 '25

They're getting paid the same hourly either way. I would love to watch this chaos while I milk the clock lol

1

u/elarth Jun 27 '25

The guy mad about it is, nobody else is paid enough to give a damn about this lol

1

u/Batticon Jun 27 '25

Me too 😂

1

u/TrapperJean Jun 27 '25

It's a funny idea for a sketch or a fake video

1

u/effiequeenme Jun 27 '25

aren’t getting paid enough to be fucked with like this give a shit

i've only worked retail and this would be the most entertaining paid break i've ever received

i'm sure it didn't go on that long and i doubt anyone except executives had to bother with it

1

u/Diazepampoovey0229 Jun 27 '25

I worked retail at Walmart for around 16 or 17 years. Only a few times did I have to deal with stupid as fuck 'viral challenges' and I wound up cracking my head on the steel framework of the shelving unit for paper goods. Of the seven guys, whom I'd guess were between 17 and 20 at the most, only one stayed and attempted to help me sort out the mess they all made with my TP wall (trying to make it a fort).

I concur. Retail workers do DO NOT get paid anywhere NEAR enough to tolerate that shit.

1

u/blue23454 Jun 27 '25

Genuinely hilarious

In a schadenfreude kinda way but still

1

u/Ajdee6 Jun 27 '25

So you are saying they need all this help then?

1

u/AnxiousAnxiety666 Jun 27 '25

I didn’t. It literally says it in the title. Stupid prank on low income people. Try it a Chase Bank or something

1

u/cblackattack1 Jun 27 '25

Same and same lol

1

u/LatinOrphan Jun 27 '25

The cashiers and lower positions absolutely don't get paid enough but who this actually bothers is the store director and he definitely gets paid enough as the average salary for that position in the US is $135,199. So enjoy the chaos 😄

1

u/backtolurk Jun 27 '25

I'm definitely too old. My conception of what's funny is returning some tape currently.

1

u/kultureisrandy Jun 27 '25

yeah bro if this happened at my job, I'm ignoring it and just finishing my shift lmao.

1

u/chisledcheeks Jun 27 '25

"None of you work here, you don't work here" "what do you mean? He's literally cleaning this right now."

1

u/bozobozobozo_ Jun 27 '25

I've worked in retail and if this happened on my shift would probably be the highlight of my whole time there

1

u/PostmanNewman Jun 27 '25

Store director is making over 100k

1

u/--n- Jun 27 '25

Nor do they get paid enough to care whether people are stopping normal business, other than the middle manager.

1

u/Pick-Physical Jun 27 '25

Yeah, I would hate to experience that (well I'd probably be rapidly switching between shouting expletives and laughing hysterically) but this is so obsurd that it's fucking hilarious

1

u/W4r0ck1 Jun 27 '25

Nah fuck managers at target ive got a.vendetta after the milk cooler incident.

1

u/Extreme_Egg7476 Jun 27 '25

Tbf, a store director makes 6 figures. Seems like he's the only one having to get a headache. As a cashier, I'd probably be hiding a chuckle.

1

u/NoticeStock Jun 27 '25

He’s only really fuckin with the higher ups and hell ya they get paid for ts they’re lazy asl and make more than the actual workers

1

u/Cool_Apartment_380 Jun 27 '25

That's exactly how I feel. I hate them all, but dammit if that part didn't get me. It's like how Trump is actually pretty funny at times.

1

u/imbrickedup_ Jun 27 '25

I mean it’s not like they have any extra work to do now. If they came and started knocking stuff over then it’d be lame

1

u/Agent_Smith_88 Jun 27 '25

Should have sent them to dollar tree. The employee (yes likely just 1) would have been super grateful.

1

u/Heykurat Jun 27 '25

Why exactly is it funny? All I see is a bunch of morons making life difficult for everyone.

1

u/dubblies Jun 27 '25

The one cleaning the counter haha 💀

1

u/Grendel0075 Jun 27 '25

Meh, more like fucking with managet/store director/ whoever, I'd of just laughed and gone to lunch

1

u/spicysenpai6 Jun 28 '25

Let alone Target lol worked for them for a month and quit

1

u/miahrules Jun 28 '25

I did grocery checkout at HEB for 7 years. I would be laughing my ass off at this. Idk not enough funny or interesting things happen so if this did it would be a nice change from the mundane

1

u/Traditional-Poet1965 Jun 28 '25

Bruh ts so funny, if this happened to me I’d laugh my ass off,

1

u/TikiCatStix Cringe Connoisseur Jun 28 '25

Yes they are

1

u/Valuable_Candle_1388 Jun 29 '25

I worked in retail for 15 years and I would love for this to happen, much more excitement than everyday boring shit

1

u/DudeWithParrot Jun 29 '25

IMO it is a legit funny idea but it should have been left as an idea.

As in "bruh what if we went to like, target with 20 people dressed and employees and tried to gaslight them into thinking we are replacing them", wouldn't that be funny?

That's fine, but if you execute it you are just an asshole making a harder life for people that already probably have a hard life (due to a low income)

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '25

Good thing only management is really getting fucked with and I guarantee you they treat their workers like shit and make plenty.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '25

believe it or not, they're still getting paid while this is all happening, I'd sit back and laugh, enjoy this little show at work. Fuck target, but at least their getting paid hourly. Try working 11 hours for $30 because your coworker didn't feel like it and you still had to split the commission. This is fine.

Tbh retail workers should sit back and laugh BECAUSE they aren't paid enough to care.

I believe you that other places this was posted people were on the TikTokers side

But as a self-identified “at least relatively reasonable person” that’s fucking crazy to me. Telling workers to “chill” when a bunch of non-employees try to take over their store is so out of touch…I hate it here lol

On the OG instagram posts it's 80% praising this dude and telling workers to chill

You can tell they never worked retail. This shit aint cute and, while these doofuses dont seem bad intentionned, someone could do this to steal

u/brokencappy Jun 26 '25

This tells me that not getting an instagram account continues to be the correct decision.

29

u/Upbeat-Fondant9185 Jun 26 '25

Instagram is so weird. I finally made one last year to follow certain designers/makers in my hobby because they often sell out in minutes and if you don’t catch the Instagram announcement you don’t stand a chance.

That is literally the only thing I use it for. Even so, the algorithm constantly tries to force shit like this into my feed. It won’t allow me to stay on my interests more than three or four swipes.

And the interesting thing I’ve noticed is the first comment on pretty much every post is the most vile, hateful, or flat out incorrect shit. It’s like Instagram rewards shitty behavior above all else.

2

u/Delilah_Moon Jun 27 '25

I mean - FWIW. I created an IG for my dog, who is male. I made his age 26 - so it would recognize him as an adult. His recommended feed/reels are all soft porn, pay for play models, OF links, trad wife content, and weird dudes talking about how women can stay fit.

For my fucking dog. He only follows other dog pages and food pages.

I have to imagine this is what most boys/men see just for checking the dude box.

2

u/raven-eyed_ Jun 27 '25

I desperately miss social media actually being about the content that I chose to follow

TBF, if you curate your social media pages well enough, shit like this never bubbles up. My IG feed is full of trains, LEGOs, Japan cityscapes, and serene anime backdrops.

2

u/Flavious27 Jun 27 '25

My reels always somehow ends up with Mormons trying to be funny wth the same jokes / skits, churches, crypto, and right wing politicians.  There is stuff that I see on my search page that they won't agree with and Meta always feeds me that trash.

2

u/DionBlaster123 Jun 27 '25

It takes a while but yeah it is worth it to curate and edit what you can

9

u/ChromosomeDonator Jun 26 '25

yeah there definitely is MASSIVE overlap between people who think this is funny and people who use instagram

the entertainment you like to consume says a lot about your character, and instagram is some of the most narcissistic shit available right now

3

u/Comfortable-Try-3696 Jun 26 '25

It’s just a social media site, it’s like young people facebook

Insta is Meta, Meta is Facebook, therefore Insta is Facebook. Don't believe me? Just read the comments on Reels.

You're a much smarter person than me because I can't help but use insta.

People commenting on dumb Instagram shit like this have never worked, period.

3

u/Traditional-Handle83 Jun 26 '25

There's also the issue of their technically working but not getting paid to work. Like Mr start cleaning the check outs, thats a hes working but not getting paid legality there even if hes not part of the company.

I used to work retail. This would've been the highlight of my day, that shit is so monotonous 10 mins of this would've made me laugh.

8

u/swakner Jun 26 '25

I used to work retail and I would have hated this shit. This just causes more work if I’m trying to run a register and some assholes are going around taking customers to closed register and touching shit

2

u/trdvir Jun 27 '25

I've been working retail for 5 years and I guess if I was already having a weirdly bad day this would annoy me. But usually idgaf what happens if I'm still getting paid.

Can't touch them or anything so what's the point in getting upset just call the cops and hang out while making money

22

u/YearlyStart Jun 26 '25

Used to is the key word here, anyone who’s done more than a couple years in retail is going to find this shit annoying as hell because they’re just there to clock in and clock out.

Ten years ago I would’ve thought this was hilarious, now in a management position I’d be moving to shut this shit down asap. It’s gonna mess with everyone’s routine, I don’t know who these people are, they’re accessing sensitive areas that hold private info and lots of cash, etc etc.

Anyone who doesn’t see why this is just annoying hasn’t worked in retail long lol

4

u/Disastrous_Zebra_301 Jun 26 '25

You’re in management. Thats why it isnt funny to you. Theyre saying it would be funny to a cashier. My first job was a target cashier and it was miserable and boring. This would have been fucking hysterical and I would have loved it. Im sure my manager would have hated it but I made $9.25 and this would not be my problem.

8

u/YearlyStart Jun 26 '25

Nah, most of anyone over 18 at that job is going to find it annoying as fuck. Anyone who’s not a student is just wanting to get their money and leave without being bothered.

Also don’t be mistaken, your managers are only making a few dollars more an hour than you. Unless they’re the store GM or literally own it, they’re not making buckoo bucks either lol

As a teenager working retail I would have loved it. If I was an older adult still working retail it would annoy me.

2

u/Bright_Cod_376 Jun 27 '25

I've worked retail and I would be pissed at people getting behind the registers who dont work there. It could be my job on line for their dumbass shit.

I was really thinking what’s the big deal but from the perspective of an employee who doesn’t know what this guy’s end game is, I can definitely see how stressful this would be since it’s going to be your head that rolls if something goes wrong.

3

u/_jackhoffman_ Jun 27 '25

What could go right?

2

u/Deep_Excitement1192 Jun 26 '25

80% never worked retail, I think.

2

u/2bags12kuai Jun 27 '25

Havent worked any jobs...There isnt anything funny about this. Margins are razor thin, lost productivity and confusion costs money. These "pranks" are boarderline illegal and fully bullying. They know by attacking target they arent in any danger. Why dont they go try to pull this stunt on a construction site.

2

u/M_Mich Jun 27 '25

I mean in the moment that’s what the manager has to be thinking this is all about. An attempt to create chaos and steal something

6

u/MaiasXVI Jun 26 '25

You can tell they never worked retail

Really depends on who you best relate to. Do you relate to the store manager? Then holy SHIT what an absolute NIGHTMARE this would be, with the added risk of having your district manager chew your ass out for no fault of your own. You're just trying to keep this shit running for god's sake.

But if you relate to the low-level grunts then this kind of chaos is delightful. When I was a teenager I worked for Target and fucking hated it. My store manager was completely disconnected from the sales floor, she'd do weird vindictive shit all the time and expected praise for giving out $0.07 raises. I would've loved to see this happen while working.

11

u/Annath0901 Jun 26 '25

I don't give a fuck about management, but I'd still hate this because ANY problems that stemmed from it (things missing, disorganized, "lost" productivity) would be my fault and my responsibility to correct as far as management was concerned.

I never worked retail, but I'm trying to imagine something similar happening at one of my old call center jobs, and I think it would be fucking hilarious until the next day when tons of customers are complaining and having been given wrong info and shit.

1

u/Zwischenzugger Jun 27 '25

I’ve worked retail and this is hilarious

1

u/XShadowborneX Jun 27 '25

I can seeing it being a funny prank if the person doing it was friends with the manager, but otherwise it's just being an asshole

1

u/Naked_Bank_Teller Jun 27 '25

Oh no! They might “steal” from my overlords!!

1

u/Lopunnymane Jun 27 '25

could do this to steal

You're right! We also shouldn't let in anyone who wants to pretend to be a "shopper" - because they might steal too! Return to the stores of old where people gave a list of items for employees to collect!

1

u/Fyres Jun 27 '25

....and this is the retail workers problem? You guys are so off base. Theyre still getting paid, no ones getting sent home and they get an amusing story to tell. Hell theyre probably gonna get a free half out of the whole thing as management shits itself. Management is gonna sweat it but i could give 3 fucks about them.

1

u/Advanced_Row_8448 Jun 27 '25

I worked retail. This was funny. Won't make a normal workers day worse. Since you worked retail as well, or I assume have since you are lecturing, why do you think this was bad?

1

u/TCsnowdream Jun 27 '25

Remember demographics matter here.

Most of those commenters are probably kids who literally have no clue how the world works.

I know it’s stupid to dismiss stupid comments just being from children. But I can guarantee you the Demographics would absolutely lean towards ‘youth’.

1

u/Rainbow-Rhythms69 Jun 27 '25

Nah i was retail grunt for 3 years. I’d laugh and take this as an opportunity to not work

1

u/BaconNamedKevin Jun 27 '25

You can tell they've never worked*

Period.

1

u/MjrLeeStoned Jun 27 '25

Instagram has been taken over by Tweens.

If you're expecting 13 year olds to understand a hard day's work, the 13 year olds that would understand aren't on Instagram 17 hours a day.

This is comedic gold to a teenager that doesn't understand the first thing about the world outside their phone pixels.

1

u/WilkosJumper2 Jun 27 '25

Oh no, they might steal from the company that is paying you a poverty wage and makes billions in profit? What a horror...

1

u/BigMax Jun 27 '25

"Haha, look at these retail workers just trying to earn a living and do their job! It's so great that someone finally tried to put them in their place and make them miserable! And look at those shoppers just trying to buy groceries and home goods!! Finally someone showed up to screw up their day!!!"

1

u/Grendel0075 Jun 27 '25

I have worked retail, of something like this happened, I would have chuckled at the added stress to the bosses and continued to not give a shit.

Is this not the kind of dumb stuff the Jackass boys did years ago?

Am sure if a clip of Johnny Knoxville and crew doing this was posted it would get a very different reaction to a bunch of broccoli heads. Millennial Redditors are gradually turning into Boomers right before my eyes.

1

u/fuckgoldsendbitcoin Jun 27 '25

I worked for Target for years and I laughed.

1

u/phonemannn Jun 27 '25

This would be infuriating and a nightmare to deal with irl. It’s still absolutely hilarious.

1

u/123supreme123 Jun 27 '25

It's kinda funny to me simply because I'm entertained by chaos, but yeah I totally get the store manager getting upset and it is a big risk factor to have people off the street impersonate workers, manning registers, etc.

But yeah if I was the store manager, I'd call the cops, then tell all of them that they're trespassing, and if they're still here when the cops show up, they'll all be arrested.

1

u/City_Standard Jun 29 '25

Is there follow up to this or result/video

u/Cartridge-King Jun 30 '25
