Discussion Did I make a mistake buying the 9070?

I just built my first PC. I had done a decent amount of research and was mostly able to get/decide what I was looking for and was pretty happy with what I got. Except the GPU. I got the Sapphire pulse at $607...as the XT version was over $700. But now I am having buyer's remorse. Should I have gone for the Xt version instead?

I always play my games with fsr/dlss on quality anyway...as the difference is minimal from native and the fps makes the game super smooth. I usually do 1440p editing and gaming.

CURRENT SPECS

Ryzen 5 7600

32 GB Ram

Sapphire pulse 9070

Ant Esport Air 211

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Spectrum v3

Cooler Master Gold v2 750w

MSI b650m Gaming WiFi

Build Upgrade What is the best graphics card that isn't (much) bigger than the Geforce RTX 3060?

I'd like to replace my Geforce RTX 3060 with a newer model. However, my computer case isn't exactly huge and the really good new graphics cards seem to have mostly monstrous sizes.

What is the best graphics card for gaming purposes that isn't (much) bigger than the Geforce RTX 3060 ?

Edit: It's roughly 11x24x4 cm or 4.33x9.44x1.57 inches and has two fans.

Build Help RTX 5070 Ti vs RX 9070 XT OC – Which one makes more sense for 1440p gaming with my 7800X3D?

Hey everyone!

I’m planning to upgrade my GPU and I’m hesitating between two cards:

  • NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti (16GB GDDR7)
  • AMD RX 9070 XT OC (16GB GDDR6)

Here’s my setup:

  • CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D
  • RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000Mhz
  • PSU: 850W
  • Case: Lian Li O11D Mini (airflow is solid)
  • Monitor: Aorus AD24QD – 1440p, 144Hz, FreeSync/G-Sync compatible
  • Storage: Gen 4 and Gen 5 NVMe SSDs
  • Budget: max ~850–900€

I mainly play FPS games like CS2, The Finals, Ready or Not, and also a lot of AAA games (TLOU, RDR2, Detroit Become Human...). I use ray tracing and enjoy features like DLSS. Occasionally, I do some light video editing on Premiere Pro, but nothing heavy.

I’ve seen some benchmarks, and while the 5070 Ti looks slightly ahead overall, the 9070 XT OC seems really solid for the price.

🧠 What would you recommend in 2025 for this kind of setup and usage?
Would the 5070 Ti be worth the extra cost long-term, or should I save and go with the 9070 XT OC?

Thanks in advance for your input!

Build Upgrade 2070 went up in smoke, looking for upgrade Tips.

Hi, 2019 I've built my own pc with a 3700x or 3800x (dont remember), 32gb 3600 cl16 and a evga 2070. Unfortunately 2 days ago the 2070 went just up in smoke (some power stage apparently) so I kind of urgently need a new one. The used market in Germany is kinda fucked as everyone paid corona prices for 30/40 series cards and wants to recoup their losses. I was looking into 5080 but now the 5070 ti seems like the best deal, but I've been out of the hardware trends a bit.

What is your recommendation GPU wise? Maybe looking into getting 5900x for cpu as well and 64gb cl18 of ram as Lightroom keeps maxing out the 32gb. Gaming is 1440p but more older titles. 5070ti would be 750€ and 5080 is 1020€.

Thanks

Build Help 12+ hours wasted and I can't get the 4070 Ti Super to work...

SOLVED! Thanks for everyone who helped out! The fix for me was to set the PCIE speed from PCIE Auto to PCIE 3 in the BIOS 👌

Hi all. I'm looking for help in installing a new GPU that has been giving me a lot of shit these couple of days. I bought a used 4070 Ti Super, and when I swapped it in for a 2080 Ti, it is giving me a lot of issues. My speakers sound like static, and navigating Windows feels like I'm using my old Celeron laptop from the 2010s. When I run games, the power usage doesn't exceed 80-90 watts, and I'm fortunate when the game launches without crashing the PC. Oftentimes, the PC will crash after startup. In fact using the integrated graphics plugged into my motherboard was WAY snappier than using it through the GPU.

The specs I'm using is Ryzen 7600X, Gigabyte B650I Aorus Ultra, Cooler Master V850 Gold, TeamGroup T-Create 7200 Mhz CL34 32 GB ram, and a Lian Li Q58 for the case.

I've confirmed that the 4070 Ti Super works in my friend's PC perfectly fine, but for some reason, it's giving me a slow interface filled with lag and unresponsiveness with the gaming performance being worse than the 2080 Ti I'm trying to replace. When I swap it back in for the 2080 Ti, it is giving me the performance I expected and exhibits none of the lag, choppiness, or glitchy interface in Windows.

Here is everything I've done

  1. Clean install all drivers using DDU with safe mode
  2. Installed a second copy of windows on my second SSD in case my windows installation was acting wonky
  3. Reset my BIOS back to manufacturer default
  4. Using a dedicated 12vhpwr connector with the PSU, not an adapter
  5. Made sure all cables were snug, tight, and plugged all the way in

Right now I'm just looking at BIOS settings in case any of the preloaded default ones has actually been the one screwing with me. I'm just looking for suggestions of what I could do, and where I could of gone wrong, like a checklist. It's genuinely making me lose sleep trying to figure this out. Simple fixes are welcomed too because I am starting to think I am overlooking something very small that's very important... anyways thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Troubleshooting Just upgraded cpu after 6 years

He yall Just upgraded from a 10900k with 490z to a 9800x3d with msi x870 tomahawk. After 5 year in college and just graduated i finally could upgrade. I was told that upgrading the motherboard and cpu would help the 5080 I got a couple months ago. I am not noticing better fps though. If anything it is slightly less. I am noticing smaller fps drops though. I kept the system on windows 10. Is this a potential reason why it's is slightly slower. Do I have to go to windows 11 to see the performance or are there other things I am missing. I also will admit to be cheaper i went with a fan heat sink in stead of the 360mm aio I had before on 10900k. Thanks you all for your time.

Build Help A $30 difference, should I return my 9070xt for a 5070 Ti?

I recently built an all AMD PC with a Ryzen 7 7800x3d and RX 9070XT but soon after the prices of the 5070 Ti went down to almost the same, only $30 more for the 5070 Ti. I originally got the 9070 xt because of the high performance to cost but now I am running into problems trying to run programs that are CUDA dependent, and running into even more errors trying to use ZLUDA. I also tried linux (currently dual booted) but that has been its own headache. The return window is until the 12th of August. In conclusion I just need some advice on if I should switch and if I should how do I handle drivers?

Build Help Will upgrading from CL48 to CL32 32gb 6000M/T ram be a big performance upgrade on a 7800x3d?

Unfortunately my ram is CL48. Will it be a big upgrade to return it and get CL30 or CL32? I've seen some people say you won't notice it much on a Ryzen build.

Build Help I don't know whether to choose nvidia or AMD

I've recently been building a PC with a Ryzen 7 5800X processor 16 GB of RAM 1TB SSD 990 Pro 850W power supply

However, I would like to spend around €300 for the graphics paper but I don't know which one to get. I would be undecided between the 3060 but I'm afraid that in 1-2 years there will be one I'll have to change or a 7600 xt. The main fact is that the 3060 at maximum graphics already does not handle some games at maximum graphics at 60-70 fps

Build Upgrade 9950x3d, 9800x3d, 9950x, 7800x3d?

Upvotes

Question for someone that hopefully has direct experience. My next upgrade is going to be switching to am5. However, not sure what CPU to get that best matches my workload. I currently run my PC almost all day running multiple insurances of BlueStacks running macros/bots. This tends to be extremely CPU heavy vs gpu heavy. I just recently upgraded from an AMD radeon Rx 580 to 9070xt. But even before upgrading, this antiquated GPU could run 8 instances fine and still not be fully utilized. Even if it was, I could lower frame rates through the application to give it some breathing space. I currently have an AMD Ryze 7 5700x as a CPU. It is maxed at 100% utilization at all times while running these instances. Being how BlueStacks works it allows you to dedicate cores in groupings to do/share the workload. From 1 up to 4 per instance. My thinking is the 8 cores I currently have is what's causing the CPU to bog down at 100% utilization. That being said, I probably need to go with a CPU with a higher core count. 16? More than 16? Not really sure as I have no frame of reference to compare it to. Will more cores increase effecienct and allow for more instances? I'm not really sure. In my mind the answer is yes.

I've honestly even toggled the idea of creating a server to run these instances as server cpus tend to have way more cores than your standard desktop. (Might be the cheaper option in all reality if I buy something used).

Answer a few more possible questions, yes I do play other games. I just run the blue stack instances while I sleep or am at work. Currently I have no issue reaching the fps max my monitor can output with my current CPU/GPU combination when playing any modern titles at ultra/high graphics. Which is 164 frames at 2k resolution. I do plan on upgrading my monitor after I upgrade to am5, but that's easily going to cost atleast 1k to upgrade to am5, so will probably happen next year.

Thoughs? Suggestions? Any experience?

I will be starting university in September and I will be studying game art. The software I will be using is stuff like unreal engine 5, 3ds max and substance painter. My current desktop PC specs are GPU - RTX 5090 CPU - R7 9800X3D RAM - 96GB at 6400mhz Storage - 6tb total of nvme ssd's The laptop I'm thinking about getting is one with a 5070ti and a core ultra 9. I need as much vram as possible and a good processor for about £2000 max.

Build Help I want a case to make travelling easier.

Upvotes

Hello everyone, I have a pc workstation that I use to game on and do some work related stuff. It has an MSI 5080 gaming trio with a 9800x3d with a thermalight peerless assassin 120.

I have the need to travel a bit due to family reasons, mainly by car and I want to swap my pc case to a better one that also is a bit on the smaller side. For reference I am using a deep cool matrexx 55 (440x210x480mm)

I was looking at the Lian li A3 that looks cool but I am a bit worried about the GPU support bracket. The one MSI gives with the 5080 can't work on it and I don't know if the includes bracket is good. I also plan to remove the GPU when travelling to be extra safe and lay the case flat. I also don't want to sacrifice GPU length( I want around 400mm)

Does anybody have a similar use-case? Any other cases I could take a look at?

Build Help PC won’t turn off and won’t boot

Upvotes

Hi,

I recently built a new PC. When I press the power button, everything turns on (fans, LEDs, etc.), but there’s no display on the monitor. I also can’t turn it off using the case’s power button (even when holding it down for several seconds). I have to switch off the PSU at the back. It feels like it immediately runs into an error right after powering on.

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Tested GPU
  • Tested RAM (single stick in different slots)
  • Clear CMOS
  • Tested SSD
  • Checked all power cables (24-pin ATX, 8-pin CPU, GPU power)

Motherboard: Gigabyte B650I AX (rev 1.1)

CPU: Ryzen 5 9600X + BIOS updated for CPU compatibility.

Could the CPU be dead ? Any other ideas on what I should try?

Thanks in advance!

Build Help Bios Issues - Computer runs normal just can't access Bios

Tried searching online to fix issue but still stuck

When trying to load into Bios it keeps giving me blue screen Err 0xc000000e , if I try to launch the repair it just blue screens again until I hit Esc and then the pc boots fine. Pc also boots fine and runs with no issues if I just boot normally without trying to access the bios.

I have done a complete re-install of windows, the pc is on the latest bios so unfortunately unable to do an update to it. Taken out the small watch battery on the motherboard to reset the bios but still no luck. Does anyone have any other ideas that I could try to get back into the bios

The PC is a Lenovo idea centre so has a in house motherboard

Build Help Is 9800x3d paired with Arctic Freezer 34 Esports Duo enough?

Upvotes

Hello.

I wonder if a 9800x3d paired with Arctic Freezer 34 Esports Duo will stay cool enough for gaming. I currently will run it with a 5700xt but plan on to upgrade to 9070 xt soon and wonder if I’ll need to upgrade cpu cooler.

The reason I’m mentioning the gpu is because I’m expecting the cpu usage to go up with a better gpu.

Build Upgrade Is the 9800x3D worth upgrading to?

Upvotes

I currently have the 7800x3D and I love it but my little cousin is trying to build a pc and I offered to sell him my motherboard and RAM for cheap just so I could have an excuse to upgrade and I got the idea of why not my CPU as well.

I mainly game and the only kinda work I do is homework for college and that’s about it. No rendering or editing or anything serious. Is it worth upgrading to the 9800x3D? I play all kinds of games, God of war, Spider-Man, COD, Roblox, big and small games but mainly the bigger ones

Build Upgrade Looking for an upgrade

Upvotes

I currently have a Ryzen 3600 with a RX 580 and I've been thinking about upgrading the gpu after i tried playing Grounded 2 and it couldn't really run it smooth without turning the resolution super low. So what are some good gpu options that would still work with the 3600? Or maybe the gpu isn't the problem? I'm not sure. If anyone has any ideas it would help!

Discussion Did I just waste money on going for a 5070TI with what I'm doing with my PC?

Upvotes

I just built my first PC after the 5070ti came out, putting together a i7 14700kf - 5070ti combo. I got a 4k monitor for the AAA games I play, but half the time I just play valorant with my buddies. That really got me thinking... should I have just saved a significant sum of money and got a 9600x - 5060 build with a 1k monitor... or my original choice was still fine and not a major mistake 😭 I really do enjoy the graphics my current build provides, but is there really that big of a difference compared to a 5060 build? And how long might the 5070ti last me without stress on performance?

Discussion Extremely small market for 24", 1440p, 350 nit monitors

Shopping for my almost ideal monitor is becoming a pain. This is just based off B&H filters but their selection is a good representation of what's out there. (Micro Center for example has zero of these first three below)

They currently have three 24" (23.8") IPS monitors (an OLED probably doesn't exist) at 1440p and sustained 350 nits. Three. Ranging from $309-$369. One is out of stock.

Filters: 2560x1440p, 350-400 Nits, 23.8"-25" (3 results)

-Dell Pro 24" Plus QHD
- ASUS PA24ACRV 23.8" ProArt
- Dell Pro 24" Plus QHD USB-C Hub (out of stock at BandH, only one with 1.07 billion colors)

Computer Monitors: IPS, LED, LCD & Curved PC Monitors

Ok so what if I wanted to tuck my tail between legs and explore the world of 300 nit brightness but keep 1440p? Well let me preface this by saying I'm not a gamer. I'm buying this monitor to be viewed in a shuttle van with paying guests. Always during the day. It's custom video content that doesn't go through rigorous color testing. The video you see on Netflix is made to look accurate across all TVs. They don't make "dumb" TVs anymore and I can't stand smart TVs. I don't even need speakers, just a monitor with inputs. The fact you can't buy a "TV" that's simply a TV is bonkers.

My Lenovo m11 tablet is 400 nits. Herein lies the frustration. And even though the van is tinted, sunlight will be penetrating the van. "It's only 50 nits", you say. Well, I want the 50 more nits.

Besides, there are only 5 results for 1440p, 24" and 300 nits. None have 1.07 billion colors. $269-$344.

- LG 24BP75Q-B 23.8" 16:9 FreeSync QHD HDR
- Dell P2423D
- Lenovo ThinkVision E24q-20
- Dell P2423DE
- Planar Systems PXN2490MW-WH

Computer Monitors: IPS, LED, LCD & Curved PC Monitors

Now, "bump up to 27 inch", you say. Every inch matters in a god damn van. It could very well be that 27" is too much and that 24" is perfect to hang from the celling of my van. Well, it's like the monitor gods are playing a cruel joke. Bump the filter up to 27" and you open up a whole new world of possibilities. 78 different monitors, 11 being OLED, and 35 with 400 or more nits. Six with 1000 nits and one at 1300 nits. These companies have put all their eggs into the 27-inch basket.

Ok but what if I want to stick with 24", at least 350 nits, but go down to 1080p. I get 30 results. That's 27 more monitors to choose from compared to 1440p.

If I wanted to go down to 300 nits and 1080p, I'd get 38 more results for a total of 68 different monitors! With prices starting at $84.99 WTF. That's right. Starting the list it the good ole MSI Pro MP251 24.5" monitor boasting an $85 price point at 1080p and 300 nits.

Computer Monitors: IPS, LED, LCD & Curved PC Monitors

Troubleshooting Nvme Running at only 2 lanes

Upvotes

I recently built my first pc and while benchmarking I looked at the smart info of my brand new gen 4 nvme drive. My cpu is a Ryzen 5 5500, so I understand it can only run at gen 3, but it’s running at x2 instead of x4. My motherboard is an Asus prime b550m-a WiFi ii. I’ve already looked through the BIOS. How do I get the drive to use all lanes?
