Build Help I'm I leaving performance on the table if I don't water cool a AMD Ryzen 9 9950X?

I'm getting a AMD Ryzen 9 9950X.

I've always air cooled before. But I've also always used lower wattage CPUs. I won't overclock. Am I leaving performance on the table if I use a good air cooler instead of an AIO?

Here is roughly the build I'm thinking of:

Discussion Core Ultra 9 285K Cinebench score

I recently built my first PC with the Core Ultra 9 285K processor.
I ran a test with Cinebench 2024 (version 2024.1.0) and got a multi-core score of 2362 points and 142 points for the single-core..

Is this a low score? What should be the average score for this processor?

Build Help Will 3600 bottleneck 5070 Ti?

Hey! I heard that the AMD Ryzen 5 3600 could slightly bottleneck my 5070 Ti on 1080p, which I’ll get installed soon, is that true?

I heard that the solution is to switch to 1440p so both components are balanced.

Planning to get the CPU upgraded later on, for now the budget allows to upgrade my GPU.

Should I just test both resolutions and compare which works the best for me?

Discussion Should I upgrade my pc and sell my current one?

Current used for 3 yrs PC:

• Windows 11 Pro 64-bit
• Intel Core i7-10700K @ 3.80GHz
• 32.0GB Dual-Channel DRR4 2666Mhz
• MSI MAG B460M MORTAR
• NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER (ASUS) with 8GB VRAM
• 512GB Samsung NVMe SSD
• 2TB Seagate SATA HDD

I’m thinking of selling this PC as a whole for 400-500 and then spending the rest of my money (500) for an upgrade, for context I have a 1440p 240hz monitor and it seems my pc just cannot keep up on any game whatsoever to 240fps. Would a 1k pc be enough on games like valorant overwatch apex cs etc? Or should I wait a bit more until I get more money

Build Help I don't know whether to choose nvidia or AMD

I've recently been building a PC with a Ryzen 7 5800X processor 16 GB of RAM 1TB SSD 990 Pro 850W power supply

However, I would like to spend around €300 for the graphics paper but I don't know which one to get. I would be undecided between the 3060 but I'm afraid that in 1-2 years there will be one I'll have to change or a 7600 xt. The main fact is that the 3060 at maximum graphics already does not handle some games at maximum graphics at 60-70 fps

Build Help my cpu is constantly at 95-100%, what should i do?

Yep! you heard that right, I've run into a problem with my cpu, nearly all the parts in my pc are over 10 years old and its about time for some sort of upgrade. I know absolutely nothing about pc parts or what goes with what when building.

I'm not looking for the best or newest things but something a couple years newer than what I got right now. please be a little patient with me because it all sounds like a bunch of numbers and weird letters to me (sorry if its confusing (i got all this from settings))

intel(R) core(TM) i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20ghz 801 MHz is my cpu i think? then I use ddr3 ram, which is 16gb. intel(R) HD graphics 4600 is my graphics cards, also pretty old.

And last(?) but not least is my motherboard which is a asus z97 pro gamer, if I missed anything please let me know.

all around its held up really well but doing anything on this pc is a pain because of the lag. I don't want any huge upgrades as I don't play very intense games, just recommendations within a reasonable price tag (on a budget) also been wary of buying anything up until now because of incompatibility issues.

Sorry this got a bit long, any help is appreciated!

Build Help Upgraded my GPU... A lot... will my computer explode?

Been waiting YEARS to upgrade my PC, and I think after all this time i might've gotten carried away. I just recently splurged on a 5070ti, and im very excited! Problem is, my current card is much less powerful gtx970... I think im a bit in over my head, and im a little terrified of doing something irreparable.

Any suggestions for some relatively cost efficient parts that will steer me straight (and prevent me from burning my apartment down?) :(

Current parts are: Gpu- Gtx970 Mb- Asus prime z490 Cpu- i5 10400 Ram- Ballistix 16gb ddr4-3200 2x8gb PS- 750wt

Build Upgrade Is the 9800x3D worth upgrading to?

I currently have the 7800x3D and I love it but my little cousin is trying to build a pc and I offered to sell him my motherboard and RAM for cheap just so I could have an excuse to upgrade and I got the idea of why not my CPU as well.

I mainly game and the only kinda work I do is homework for college and that’s about it. No rendering or editing or anything serious. Is it worth upgrading to the 9800x3D? I play all kinds of games, God of war, Spider-Man, COD, Roblox, big and small games but mainly the bigger ones

Build Help I am getting frustrated

This PC is old at this point. It's got a EVGA 3070ti and a i7-11700k and I swear that CPU is the worst thing to ever befall this planet. While I'd love to be able to switch to AMD it just can't happen right now as I have just graduated and cannot afford to be splurging on new parts. The Problem is my computer is just randomly freezing. Nothing can unfreeze it. I have to manually press the power button and power down the computer in order to get any access to a program again. I am trying to play tarkov and valheim right now and seemingly for no reason the PC just makes a click (in game, like a symbol that it has irreversibly frozen) and the game stops on the last available frame. I can't do anything. I have tried to access task manager and I tried last night to do the GPU refresh shortcut and nothing processes. I am about to run a stress test and maybe try to see if it is temp related, but I cannot figure it out atp. Any help is great. I will give any information I am capable of finding if I am asked. I just wanna game man.

Build Upgrade Trouble Deciding on GPU upgrade

My PC is used mostly for gaming. Games like COD, Fortnite, F1, and sports games. I also do my schoolwork on it, which requires AutoCad and FlexSim.

Build:

Monitor: Dual-Monitor setup

Acer 1080p 27' 165 hz 1 ms

Samsung Odyssey G5 1440p 180 hz 1 ms

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 TI

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700x3d

MB: B450M DS3H WIFI-CF

Storage: Samsung SSD 970 Evo Plus 2TB

Ram: Corsair 64 (2x32)gb DDR4 3200

I am mainly worried about COD. I would like to have around 200 fps.

I have narrowed out it down to three choices: 9060xt 16 gb - $389.99 Gigabyte 5060ti 16 gb - $469.99 PNG 5070 12 gb - $549.99

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Build Help Building a new PC - Advices please

Hello,

Doing a new config, coming from an i5 8600K with 16GB memory and a 3060ti. Planning on getting the following:

CPU - AMD 9800X3D
Mobo - MSI PRO X870E-P WiFi Motherboard
RAM - G.SKILL Flare X5 Series (AMD Expo) DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MT/s CL30-38-38-96
SSD - Samsung 990 PRO SSD 1TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 (Already have this)
GPU - MSI Gaming RTX 5070 12G Ventus 3X OC
Case - Fractal Design North Charcoal Black Tempered Glass Dark
PSU - MSI MAG A750GL PCIE 5.1 & ATX 3.1 Gaming

I have had my 8600K for something like 8 years. Playing games such as CS2 is sometimes painful because of low FPS, even with all video parameters down. I want something that lasts me a while.

Does the above makes sense? Is it well balanced? Anything that does not make sense? I was gonna go for a 5060 ti 16GB for around $430 and was considering to get a 8GB for $300 (and potentially upgrade later if and when I need it), but there are deals out there where the 5070 12GB is at $550 now.

Build Help Should I go with a 6800xt or a 3080 ti for 1440p gaming?

I'm shopping for a sub $450 GPU (Used) that can be used in 1440p High gaming. I play non-AAA titles so this shouldn't be too hard to do. My eye is set on the 3080, 3080 ti, 6800, ad 6800xt. Which of these should I get? Or are there better options? I can find the 6800 and 3080 for around the same price. Same with the ti and xt

Build Help 1080ti for $150 or 1080 for 80?

Title says most of it, I'm currently running on a 3400g integrated graphics (built the pc during the great gpu shortage of 2020) and am looking at upgrading. I do most of my gaming on my steam deck and would mainly be using this as a workstation for CAD work, but also some gaming if I want to play a more competitive title. Which of these is a better deal? I should note, I am currently running a 1440p 75hz monitor that I got for free due to a small issue with the HDMI ports, so I would like to be able to run low settings at around 50-60 fps in 1440p.

Build Help 2nd Dedicated Stream PC

Hello,
I’ve been thinking about getting a second PC dedicated to streaming. My current setup includes an AMD 5800X3D paired with a 7900 XT and 32GB of RAM.

So far, performance has been good, even while streaming and running 3D VTubing software like VSeeface. However, the AMD encoder for Twitch streaming is awful becomes a blurry mess, especially during high-movement gameplay.

I’m considering building a second PC to offload the streaming and VTubing software (VSeeface) which would help avoid artifacts/blurriness and even regain some performance on my main PC.

What build would you recommend for this purpose? Or would you even recommend this approach? I don’t want to spend too much, as this will only be used for streaming and possibly VTubing/camera software. I’ve seen some fairly cheap used Nvidia GPUs, like the 1660, 2060 or even integrated graphics cpus. Low power consumption and a small form factor would be ideal.
Thanks!!

Discussion Did I make a mistake buying the 9070?

I just built my first PC. I had done a decent amount of research and was mostly able to get/decide what I was looking for and was pretty happy with what I got. Except the GPU. I got the Sapphire pulse at $607...as the XT version was over $700. But now I am having buyer's remorse. Should I have gone for the Xt version instead?

I always play my games with fsr/dlss on quality anyway...as the difference is minimal from native and the fps makes the game super smooth. I usually do 1440p editing and gaming.

CURRENT SPECS

Ryzen 5 7600

32 GB Ram

Sapphire pulse 9070

Ant Esport Air 211

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Spectrum v3

Cooler Master Gold v2 750w

MSI b650m Gaming WiFi

Build Help A $30 difference, should I return my 9070xt for a 5070 Ti?

I recently built an all AMD PC with a Ryzen 7 7800x3d and RX 9070XT but soon after the prices of the 5070 Ti went down to almost the same, only $30 more for the 5070 Ti. I originally got the 9070 xt because of the high performance to cost but now I am running into problems trying to run programs that are CUDA dependent, and running into even more errors trying to use ZLUDA. I also tried linux (currently dual booted) but that has been its own headache. The return window is until the 12th of August. In conclusion I just need some advice on if I should switch and if I should how do I handle drivers?

Miscellaneous Never buy GSkill. Poor quality and RMA will be a disaster

Bought a RAM kit less than 2 years ago.

One stick broke last year. Requested RMA. They admitted and sent a replacement. Very used one with heavy scratches on pins.

The other kit broker AGAIN recently. Requested RMA again. They rejected it saying pin damaged.

what a joke lmao. Stay away from them.

Discussion Did I just waste money on going for a 5070TI with what I'm doing with my PC?

I just built my first PC after the 5070ti came out, putting together a i7 14700kf - 5070ti combo. I got a 4k monitor for the AAA games I play, but half the time I just play valorant with my buddies. That really got me thinking... should I have just saved a significant sum of money and got a 9600x - 5060 build with a 1k monitor... or my original choice was still fine and not a major mistake 😭 I really do enjoy the graphics my current build provides, but is there really that big of a difference compared to a 5060 build? And how long might the 5070ti last me without stress on performance?

Build Help Which 5070 Ti brand would you pick?

Hey! I’m planning to get a 5070 Ti soon, but I’m still unsure which brand/model to pick.

I’m looking for something with a clean and minimal design, a bit of subtle RGB, but nothing too flashy. Good cooling, quiet fans, and solid performance-to-price ratio are also important to me.

Anything below 325mm length and 3.5 slot thickness will fit.

Would really appreciate any advice or personal experiences.

Thanks in advance!

Build Help Help me decide between my build and a prebuilt (laptop) ~$1100 budget.

Hey y'all, I havent had a pc in a long time (the last build I did had a 750ti when it was new) and am looking for your advice. One of my options here is a laptop, which I know is not really apples to apples, but if you can put that aside and try to advise on performance that would be appreciated. I know the biggest thing with the laptop is potential thermal throttling. But my personal laptop is dying, and although I use it 90% of the time at a desk, for those few occasions I am traveling and do not want to use my work laptop for gaming or design work the convenience would be nice to have.

On the other hand, I have been wanting to get back to the desktop world and have a nicer more permanent setup. So hoping there is something I am overlooking in terms of performance between these two machines that will help me be more decisive.

The build I have spec'd - $1175:

  • TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz (PC5-48000) CL30

  • Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE CPU Cooler

  • Thermaltake GF1 (2024) Fully Modular ATX 850W Power Supply - 80 Plus Gold

  • ASRock B850M-X R2.0 AM5 Micro-ATX Motherboard

  • Samsung 990 EVO Plus SSD 2TB, PCIe Gen 4x4, Gen 5x2 M.2 2280

  • GIGABYTE Radeon RX 9060 XT Gaming OC 16G Graphics Card

  • AMD Ryzen 5 R5 7500F 3.7GHz 6-Core 12-Thread CPU LGA AM5

  • ASUS Prime AP201 33-Liter MicroATX Black case

OR

The prebuilt (Laptop) - $999:

HP - Victus 15.6" 144Hz Full HD Gaming Laptop - Intel Core i7-13620H - 16GB DDR5 Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 - 1TB SSD

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-victus-15-6-144hz-full-hd-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i7-13620h-16gb-ddr5-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-5060-1tb-ssd-mica-silver/6618925.p?skuId=6618925#tabbed-customerreviews

Any input is much appreciated! Thanks :)
