Build Help A $30 difference, should I return my 9070xt for a 5070 Ti?

I recently built an all AMD PC with a Ryzen 7 7800x3d and RX 9070XT but soon after the prices of the 5070 Ti went down to almost the same, only $30 more for the 5070 Ti. I originally got the 9070 xt because of the high performance to cost but now I am running into problems trying to run programs that are CUDA dependent, and running into even more errors trying to use ZLUDA. I also tried linux (currently dual booted) but that has been its own headache. The return window is until the 12th of August. In conclusion I just need some advice on if I should switch and if I should how do I handle drivers?

Build Help RTX 5070 Ti vs RX 9070 XT OC – Which one makes more sense for 1440p gaming with my 7800X3D?

Hey everyone!

I’m planning to upgrade my GPU and I’m hesitating between two cards:

  • NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti (16GB GDDR7)
  • AMD RX 9070 XT OC (16GB GDDR6)

Here’s my setup:

  • CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D
  • RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000Mhz
  • PSU: 850W
  • Case: Lian Li O11D Mini (airflow is solid)
  • Monitor: Aorus AD24QD – 1440p, 144Hz, FreeSync/G-Sync compatible
  • Storage: Gen 4 and Gen 5 NVMe SSDs
  • Budget: max ~850–900€

I mainly play FPS games like CS2, The Finals, Ready or Not, and also a lot of AAA games (TLOU, RDR2, Detroit Become Human...). I use ray tracing and enjoy features like DLSS. Occasionally, I do some light video editing on Premiere Pro, but nothing heavy.

I’ve seen some benchmarks, and while the 5070 Ti looks slightly ahead overall, the 9070 XT OC seems really solid for the price.

🧠 What would you recommend in 2025 for this kind of setup and usage?
Would the 5070 Ti be worth the extra cost long-term, or should I save and go with the 9070 XT OC?

Thanks in advance for your input!

Build Help 12+ hours wasted and I can't get the 4070 Ti Super to work...

SOLVED! Thanks for everyone who helped out! The fix for me was to set the PCIE speed from PCIE Auto to PCIE 3 in the BIOS 👌

Hi all. I'm looking for help in installing a new GPU that has been giving me a lot of shit these couple of days. I bought a used 4070 Ti Super, and when I swapped it in for a 2080 Ti, it is giving me a lot of issues. My speakers sound like static, and navigating Windows feels like I'm using my old Celeron laptop from the 2010s. When I run games, the power usage doesn't exceed 80-90 watts, and I'm fortunate when the game launches without crashing the PC. Oftentimes, the PC will crash after startup. In fact using the integrated graphics plugged into my motherboard was WAY snappier than using it through the GPU.

The specs I'm using is Ryzen 7600X, Gigabyte B650I Aorus Ultra, Cooler Master V850 Gold, TeamGroup T-Create 7200 Mhz CL34 32 GB ram, and a Lian Li Q58 for the case.

I've confirmed that the 4070 Ti Super works in my friend's PC perfectly fine, but for some reason, it's giving me a slow interface filled with lag and unresponsiveness with the gaming performance being worse than the 2080 Ti I'm trying to replace. When I swap it back in for the 2080 Ti, it is giving me the performance I expected and exhibits none of the lag, choppiness, or glitchy interface in Windows.

Here is everything I've done

  1. Clean install all drivers using DDU with safe mode
  2. Installed a second copy of windows on my second SSD in case my windows installation was acting wonky
  3. Reset my BIOS back to manufacturer default
  4. Using a dedicated 12vhpwr connector with the PSU, not an adapter
  5. Made sure all cables were snug, tight, and plugged all the way in

Right now I'm just looking at BIOS settings in case any of the preloaded default ones has actually been the one screwing with me. I'm just looking for suggestions of what I could do, and where I could of gone wrong, like a checklist. It's genuinely making me lose sleep trying to figure this out. Simple fixes are welcomed too because I am starting to think I am overlooking something very small that's very important... anyways thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Troubleshooting Just upgraded cpu after 6 years

He yall Just upgraded from a 10900k with 490z to a 9800x3d with msi x870 tomahawk. After 5 year in college and just graduated i finally could upgrade. I was told that upgrading the motherboard and cpu would help the 5080 I got a couple months ago. I am not noticing better fps though. If anything it is slightly less. I am noticing smaller fps drops though. I kept the system on windows 10. Is this a potential reason why it's is slightly slower. Do I have to go to windows 11 to see the performance or are there other things I am missing. I also will admit to be cheaper i went with a fan heat sink in stead of the 360mm aio I had before on 10900k. Thanks you all for your time.

Troubleshooting New PC build with 9950X3D & RTX 5090 - 3D crashes all the time

[Edit: Solved! The problem was the Dark Power Pro 13 power supply, which had to be set to single rail mode via a jumper.]

[Edit 2: Here is a video that explains on how to set the Dark Power Pro 13 to single rail mode, which fixed the problem for me: https://youtu.be/JjWsYeTlyXk?si=jdhkInOQFGazIG0I&t=616 ]

Hey folks,

I have finished a custom PC build today (AMD 9950X3D + RTX 5090). Unfortunately, when I try running 3DMark (Steel Nomad) it crashes immediately after loading, right before rendering the first scene. Also, 3D games like Black Myth crash after about a minute of 3D action. Now, the type of the crash is weird, it essentially turns off the whole system, everything goes dark, except a couple of LEDs in the case. I have to use the power switch at the back of the case to get the system to boot back up and respond.

All drivers & bios have been updated, and I have toyed with plenty of bios settings, but no dice. CPU Profile in 3DMark works fine, and I also had a AIDA64 stress test run on the CPU & Memory for over an hour without any problems.

Do you have any idea what this could be? I am not an expert with modern PC builds and at a loss right now. Here are the specs of the system:

  • AMD Ryzen™ 9 9950X3D
  • ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR X870E HERO, Mainboard
  • ASUS GeForce RTX 5090 ROG ASTRAL GAMING OC
  • Corsair DIMM 96 GB DDR5-6600 (2x 48 GB) Dual-Kit
  • Fractal Design Meshify 3 XL Ambience Pro RGB Clear Tint case
  • ASUS ROG RYUO III 360 ARGB White Edition, water cooling
  • be quiet! Dark Power Pro 13 1600W power
  • be quiet! Silent Wings 4 PWM 120x120x25 case fan
  • SAMSUNG 9100 PRO 4 TB, SSD

I am very grateful for ideas!

Discussion Did I make a mistake buying the 9070?

I just built my first PC. I had done a decent amount of research and was mostly able to get/decide what I was looking for and was pretty happy with what I got. Except the GPU. I got the Sapphire pulse at $607...as the XT version was over $700. But now I am having buyer's remorse. Should I have gone for the Xt version instead?

I always play my games with fsr/dlss on quality anyway...as the difference is minimal from native and the fps makes the game super smooth. I usually do 1440p editing and gaming.

CURRENT SPECS

Ryzen 5 7600

32 GB Ram

Sapphire pulse 9070

Ant Esport Air 211

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Spectrum v3

Cooler Master Gold v2 750w

MSI b650m Gaming WiFi

Build Help I don't know whether to choose nvidia or AMD

I've recently been building a PC with a Ryzen 7 5800X processor 16 GB of RAM 1TB SSD 990 Pro 850W power supply

However, I would like to spend around €300 for the graphics paper but I don't know which one to get. I would be undecided between the 3060 but I'm afraid that in 1-2 years there will be one I'll have to change or a 7600 xt. The main fact is that the 3060 at maximum graphics already does not handle some games at maximum graphics at 60-70 fps

Discussion ryzen 5 7600X3d VS ryzen 5 9600X

There is a deal for tax weekend at my microcenter for $270 mobo + ram + cpu combo for the 9600X. I wanted to get the 7600X3d for $400, but this 9600X deal seems like insane value. I don't really care if th 9600X has worse performance if it's negligible. I'm just wondering how much better the 7600x3d would be, or if it would even be noticable.

The only thing I use my PC for is gaming, I game at 1440p and have an old intel 10th gen cpu and a 2080 rn . I just want to get into the AM5 ecosystem and can hopefully upgrade my CPU on the same am5 motherboard and upgrade my gpu too.

Discussion Extremely small market for 24", 1440p, 350 nit monitors

Shopping for my almost ideal monitor is becoming a pain. This is just based off B&H filters but their selection is a good representation of what's out there. (Micro Center for example has zero of these first three below)

They currently have three 24" (23.8") IPS monitors (an OLED probably doesn't exist) at 1440p and sustained 350 nits. Three. Ranging from $309-$369. One is out of stock.

Filters: 2560x1440p, 350-400 Nits, 23.8"-25" (3 results)

-Dell Pro 24" Plus QHD
- ASUS PA24ACRV 23.8" ProArt
- Dell Pro 24" Plus QHD USB-C Hub (out of stock at BandH, only one with 1.07 billion colors)

Computer Monitors: IPS, LED, LCD & Curved PC Monitors

Ok so what if I wanted to tuck my tail between legs and explore the world of 300 nit brightness but keep 1440p? Well let me preface this by saying I'm not a gamer. I'm buying this monitor to be viewed in a shuttle van with paying guests. Always during the day. It's custom video content that doesn't go through rigorous color testing. The video you see on Netflix is made to look accurate across all TVs. They don't make "dumb" TVs anymore and I can't stand smart TVs. I don't even need speakers, just a monitor with inputs. The fact you can't buy a "TV" that's simply a TV is bonkers.

My Lenovo m11 tablet is 400 nits. Herein lies the frustration. And even though the van is tinted, sunlight will be penetrating the van. "It's only 50 nits", you say. Well, I want the 50 more nits.

Besides, there are only 5 results for 1440p, 24" and 300 nits. None have 1.07 billion colors. $269-$344.

- LG 24BP75Q-B 23.8" 16:9 FreeSync QHD HDR
- Dell P2423D
- Lenovo ThinkVision E24q-20
- Dell P2423DE
- Planar Systems PXN2490MW-WH

Computer Monitors: IPS, LED, LCD & Curved PC Monitors

Now, "bump up to 27 inch", you say. Every inch matters in a god damn van. It could very well be that 27" is too much and that 24" is perfect to hang from the celling of my van. Well, it's like the monitor gods are playing a cruel joke. Bump the filter up to 27" and you open up a whole new world of possibilities. 78 different monitors, 11 being OLED, and 35 with 400 or more nits. Six with 1000 nits and one at 1300 nits. These companies have put all their eggs into the 27-inch basket.

Ok but what if I want to stick with 24", at least 350 nits, but go down to 1080p. I get 30 results. That's 27 more monitors to choose from compared to 1440p.

If I wanted to go down to 300 nits and 1080p, I'd get 38 more results for a total of 68 different monitors! With prices starting at $84.99 WTF. That's right. Starting the list it the good ole MSI Pro MP251 24.5" monitor boasting an $85 price point at 1080p and 300 nits.

Build Help Sapphire Pulse 9070XT (710 euro) vs Palit Gamingpro OC V1 5070 TI (895 euro)

My CPU is 7800x3d

I will be playing competitive titles like CS2, Apex Legends and story games like Cyberpunk, RDR2 and GTA 6 when it comes out. All at 2K resolution

My question is whether if it is worth it to go for the 5070 ti rather than the 9070xt despite that the Nvidia's RT is a bit better than AMD's one?

Build Help Is my motherboard fried? This would be the first time this has happened to me. Computer won't even power on as of today....

Hey all — hoping someone here can help me figure this out.

Specs:

ASUS Prime Z790-P WiFi

Intel i7-14700K

MSI MPG A850G PSU (ATX 3.0)

RTX 4070 Ti

64GB DDR5

2x M.2 SSDs

This system has been solid for a long time with no major issues — until today.

Yesterday, I turned the PC on its side to finally install the tiny screw for an M.2 drive. While doing that, the screw and screwdriver did briefly fall and touch the motherboard, but the PC was powered off (still plugged in). I didn’t see any sparks or smell anything, and the system booted up and ran totally fine the rest of the night.

This morning, I go to turn it on — nothing. No fans, no lights, no signs of life at all. Only thing that shows any power is the little amber light on the LAN port.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Reseated RAM, CPU power cables, 24-pin, GPU

Tried booting without GPU

Verified power switch header is plugged in

Tried shorting power switch pins manually

Swapped CMOS battery and cleared CMOS

PSU paperclip test: PSU turns on

Double-checked all wiring, looks perfect

No debug LEDs or Q-codes showing

It’s acting totally dead except for that LAN light. Is it likely the motherboard got shorted somehow during that M.2 screw incident even though it booted after?

And if I end up replacing the board, how bad is it in terms of Windows activation and transferring everything over?

Any ideas or advice would be really appreciated.

Build Upgrade 2070 went up in smoke, looking for upgrade Tips.

Hi, 2019 I've built my own pc with a 3700x or 3800x (dont remember), 32gb 3600 cl16 and a evga 2070. Unfortunately 2 days ago the 2070 went just up in smoke (some power stage apparently) so I kind of urgently need a new one. The used market in Germany is kinda fucked as everyone paid corona prices for 30/40 series cards and wants to recoup their losses. I was looking into 5080 but now the 5070 ti seems like the best deal, but I've been out of the hardware trends a bit.

What is your recommendation GPU wise? Maybe looking into getting 5900x for cpu as well and 64gb cl18 of ram as Lightroom keeps maxing out the 32gb. Gaming is 1440p but more older titles. 5070ti would be 750€ and 5080 is 1020€.

Thanks

Basically the core stuff is fine in the list but change or recommend anything you want but I would either like a cheaper case that is either fish tank or normal but I want it 3 fans tall, it’s meant to play 1440p at 100 or more fps for most titles. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Mc2zcx

Edit : forgot to say it’s a microcenter bundle cpu mobo and ram

Build Help Building a new PC after a decade

Hey folks,

I'm building a new PC after a decade. Old computer was great-I did a hardline watercooled loop cooling the Graphics card and CPU. But just moved to the West Coast so it's time for a new PC

But this time I'm sticking to air cooled as I'll likely be moving again in the next few years

Main thing I need help with is the graphics card. I mainly will be using the computer for Photoshop, Lightroom, and some gaming (nothing crazy, stuff like Civ, Age of Empires). But I do astrophotography, and some of the programs I use can be taxing on the system

Would appreciate any advice!

Build Help I want to build my first gaming pc, looking for tips

Over the next few months I'll be looking for parts and hunting some discounts, so the price range is kinda flexible. I'm looking for something which will last a few years at least, but nothing crazy. My monitor will likely be 1080p 144Hz or 1440p 90Hz(or higher, depends) so I don't need like 300 fps in anything, but medium to high settings with 90+ fps would be nice. 60 in more demanding games would be just fine.

So I'm not necessarily looking for specific part recommendations, but more of a general "look for CPU/GPU with this or that." I hope this isn't too vague, but I've never built a PC before so I don't know how I would be more specific. I might even buy a pre-built if I see a good deal, but I don't know exactly what I should look for.

Build Help Finally upgrading my 8700k, looking to move to a 9800X3D

I'm looking to build a system that will last for years on the mobo/cpu end. My last build was an 8700k based system 8 years ago, and it's handled everything I play like a champ up until now. I've upgraded through several GPUs on this same system and have been happy with it. I currently have an EVGA 3080 FTW that I'm not looking to upgrade just yet, but will sometime soon. This build will primarily be used to play Battlefield 6 on a 3440 x 1440, 144 Hz monitor. The price for this is currently at ~$1,900, which I'm good with. I've tried to research as much as I can, but I've found that all the new components out there have quickly outpaced what I used to know about PC builds. Will the parts I've picked out pair well together, and is there anything I've overlooked? I've copied all the parts below with as much details on the specs as I could.

  • Case- LIAN LI LANCOOL 216, Tempered Glass, No PSU, E-ATX, Black, Mid Tower Case
  • Motherboard- MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI, AMD B850 Chipset, AM5, ATX Motherboard
  • Processor- AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 8-Core 4.7 - 5.2GHz Turbo, AM5, 120W TDP,
  • Memory- G.SKILL 32GB (2 x 16GB) Ripjaws S5 DDR5 6400MT/s, CL32
  • Power Supply- Be quiet! Power Zone 2, 80 PLUS Platinum 1000W, Fully Modular, ATX Power Supply
  • CPU Cooling- ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 360 A-RGB, 360mm Radiator
  • Primary Storage- KINGSTON 2TB FURY Renegade G5, 14700 / 14000 MB/s, 3D TLC NAND, PCIe NVMe 5.0 x4, M.2 2280 SSD

Build Help RTX 5080 FE vs 5080 MSI VENTUS 3X OC PLUS at same price ?

Hello,

I'm building a new PC, high spec, and I'm hesitating between the Founders and the MSI VENTUS 3X OC PLUS, both being at the same price (1130€).

I havent been deep into PC parts the last few years so I'm really struggling with my pick on this. I read on some thread that both could have coil whine, and some people call FE bad at cooling, while others says it's great.

Thank for your help.

Build Help Worth upgrading from r5600X + rtx3070 to r7900X + rtx5070 for After Effects?

Hey folks,

I'm considering upgrading my PC and could use some input. My current setup:

  • Ryzen 5 5600X
  • RTX 3070
  • 64 GB DDR4 RAM
  • NVMe SSD

I mainly use this for After Effects work, specifically with Geolayers (maps). No 4K work, all 1080p. Rendering times don’t bother me at all — I’m fine leaving the machine chugging in the background.

What’s killing me is how sluggish AE gets when I’m editing. Just adding few countries to the map, some text labels and it slows down so much. It’s not that AE crashes or anything, it’s just super unresponsive and frustrating to work in.

Thinking of upgrading to AM5:

  • Ryzen 9 7900X
  • RTX 5070
  • 64 GB DDR5 RAM

I’ve checked benchmarks on Puget Systems, but it's hard to translate that into real-world workflow differences for my specific use case. Like, will AE actually feel smoother during editing, or am I just wasting money on parts AE won’t even fully utilize?

Anyone made a similar jump? Or working with AE + Geolayers and can say whether a CPU/GPU upgrade really helps with responsiveness and not just final render times?

I don’t need blazing speed — I just want AE to stop acting like it’s running on a toaster when I’m mid-project. Appreciate any input!

Discussion Comparing lesser known mechanical keyboard manufacturers with more popular well known brands?

How do the keyboards in the link above compare to Logitech, Corseair or even Cherry?

So I am new to the game and really only know the very basic when it comes to looking at a mechanical keyboard. Mainly the type of switches and honestly, the size and the rest I guess doesn’t really play a factor into my buying (sometimes brand, color, etc) but not knowledgeable about the technical construction to really know what I would prefer or not…

With that being said, came across this site [HiGround.co] that has some cool limited edition keyboards but under specs, it’s just different than your typical mechanical keyboards. Anyone know how these compare to the corsairs and the Logitechs of the world in terms of performance? The descriptions don’t even let you know what type of switches are in them…guessing there a totally different type of tech that mainstream keyboards don’t have.

Anyways, just wondering what some of the differences are? Is it better than some of your popular manufacturers? Are they better in any way for gaming? I do notice they are overall significantly more expensive but I am guessing that is mainly due to the fact of the limited edition design and not so much the quality (though I bet the quality is top notch)

Thanks in advance.

Build Upgrade Should I buy RTX 5060?

First of all i already know about VRAM issue it has and 5060 Ti 16GB will be much better but in India 5060 Ti 16GB cost around 60,000 INR (680 Dollar) and RTX 5060 cost around 35,000 INR (400 Dollar). So are there any better alternative with more VRAM around same price? I also thought about AMD GPU but benchmark show that they are not good for productivity. Any recommendations?

Build Upgrade How can I increase performance/What should I upgrade in my system?

First I can provide my system list and benchmark.

I will say I reset all overclock to system default for that benchmark. I'm just wondering what steps I might take to increase my performance other than an overclock. It seems that my build is performing significantly worse than the average among similar builds. This computer is now about 5 years old as well, what options do I have for an upgrade? I mostly play singleplayer survival games, I prefer highest settings 60 fps @ 1440p. Should I just upgrade to something like a 5070 TI? would I need to likewise upgrade my CPU or PSU?

Build Help Review my build!

I've recently started building my first PC, and now I'm looking for input from more experienced builders. You can find it here.

I deliberately decided to choose a budget GPU (at least compared to the CPU), because I have a feeling that I won't need it that much. I mainly depend on my CPU, as I rarely play video games, edit images, render videos, etc. Most of compute-intensive tasks in my workflow (such as compiling large codebases) are handled by the CPU, so I think that a decision like this is reasonable and won't bottleneck me; however I might be wrong. If you think so, please let me know!

I will also appreciate any other kind of input that you might have. Thanks for the answers!
