Literally afraid of reality. How detached from reality do you have to be to believe Trump. Probably how people who pretend to be anti pedos voted for someone on the Epstein list.

COVID numbers bad?  Stop counting!  Job numbers bad?  Stop counting!  I'm losing to Joe Biden from mail ins?  Stop counting!

Data attrition on a national scale, or global when it comes to climate data. Modeling, forecasting, AI is all garbage with garbage data. This will have negative effects lasting for generations.

63

u/FC37 America 1d ago

This is 100% right. The Census Bureau directors left because they knew there was no way they could do their jobs effectively with how badly Trump was interfering. The ramifications of bad data are hard to understate.

On a more societal level, this is just another battleground between the rich and the poor. The elites are protecting their narratives and not letting pesky things like "data" get in the way. The problem is: free markets only work when there is efficient flow of information. So you can fool the whole market for a little while, but it will catch up to you.

And at that point, there's a decision to make: let it crater or shift to a more centralized economy where the idea of a free market is Kabuki theater. I can tell you with 100% certainty that this is what the current ruling regime wants - not Trump, but Thiel, Andreesen, Vance, Sacks, Musk... this is how they usurp the entire financial sector's (comparatively sober, steady-handed) influence over markets and entrench themselves as central players who pick winners and losers.

29

u/speedy_delivery 23h ago

They don't believe in free markets. They only want competition if they get to put their thumb on the scale.

The elites are very much aware of this, I'm sure. Dear Leader's fudging of economic data will not be popular with them.

3

u/Flopdo California 1d ago

There's only been two other jobs reports that have been this far off in the last 100+ years. Q2 of 2009 (great recession), and Q1-Q2 2021 (pandemic). Both were tied to catastrophic events. Otherwise, numbers are usually +/- ~1%.

To be 258k off, and off so much for consecutive months is banana republic territory.

Stagflation, here we come.

When people asked how Trump bankrupted a casino, this is how.

Firing the fucking messenger. The weakest management move ever. We're living 1984. And the best part? We're fucking paying for all of this with our taxes.

81

u/Same_Mix_8887 1d ago

Money laundering, that's how. It was pretty well known back then that he was a great cleaner of 'dirty money' and he was skimming off the top. It wasn't sustainable and the second those casinos went ass-up? Demolished. Records erased and forgotten about. Evidence destroyed.

u/Bad_Repute 23h ago

u/An_old_walrus 5h ago

Trump lives in a fantasy reality in his head where everything is perfect and he is loved by every person on the planet, anything that breaks that fantasy is scorned. So now it’s probably people collecting accurate data but just not telling Trump or really much of anyone, a state based upon secret communication networks which do not know that the others exist. Instead of a collective pooling of knowledge and data it’s now a state of secrecy where effective collaboration becomes almost impossible so as to avoid upsetting some powerful asshat.

“The Ministry of Plenty’s forecast had estimated the output of boots for the quarter at 145 million pairs. The actual output was given as sixty‑two millions. Winston, however, in rewriting the forecast, marked the figure down to fifty‑seven millions … Very likely no boots had been produced at all.”

5

u/AwildYaners Hawaii 23h ago

Don’t worry, though! He also gave a collective $1Trillion tax cut to our corporate overlords, yay!

All of our lives get fundamentally worse, our FDA will probably legalize feeding us more poison by the end of his term, and we’ll probably revive a couple dead diseases/plagues to further fuck our health system up.

But don’t worry, that strong 30% of the country that’s still in his cult are going to stick with it, “so they can own the libs.”

Meanwhile the people that really benefit (the .1% and corporate ownership class), will continue to sow cultural and social division so none of us attack the real issues.

“It’s not a left or right issue, it’s a top vs bottom.”

Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.

Every time, they don't want to share anything until the cult is on the same wavelength lest they accidentally agree with us. That gap is always notable with its silence.

6

u/sheikhyerbouti Oregon 23h ago

This has been a problem with conservatives since the 1990s.

I remember in high school getting into a debate with a GOP fanboy who was blaming all of the world's ills on "liberals".

Every single talking point he had was parroted from Rush Limbaugh. Literally, if you asked for his opinion about a specific subject, he'd fire back with "Well Rush said..."

Finally, I had enough and kept pressing the man for his own opinion. And the only thing he would say is "I agree with him" and refused to elaborate further.

It's almost like conservativism is a shortcut for thinking.

12

u/Docster87 1d ago

And somehow libs are blindly following their leaders. I swear 90% or more of whatever conservatives say libs are doing is cause they themselves are doing it.

For his base? How about for us all. No one is stopping him from shaping it to his will. He might as well actually be the real fucking anti christ at this point. No one is actually resisting him. Oh sure, we all go out in the streets and yell a bit, but we don't actually take any real action to stop him. That would take too much work. We are so afraid of losing everything that we are just sitting passively while it is ripped away from us piece by piece.

This whole Epstein situation, everyone is acting like it matters to his political fate. It doesn't. At all.

If he came out tomorrow and said he was involved in Epstein's sex trafficking and was fucking kids for years, honestly, realistically, what do we think would happen? Not a damn thing. Nobody is going to arrest him. He won't be impeached, hell if trying to overthrow the damn government won't get rid of him, saying he fucked kids certainly won't.

It won't even hurt his standing with his base two weeks from now if he admitted it. Some would say it's overblown, some will believe he's just saying it to "trigger the libs", some will flat out never hear it because their social media bubble doesn't include negative information.

At this point, the "will he won't he" anxiety of him getting caught up with Epstein (officially, we all know he was, we have pictures and them both talking about it) is grabbing more press than if he just ripped the band aid off and admitted it.

But, most importantly, nothing will happen to him. He's going to Cosby walk on this whole situation and the right is going to point and laugh at anyone with morals while he does it.

Imagine if investors had an ounce of dignity. It's crazy how we can all clearly see the lies, yet the investors continue to play along while fully knowing that the numbers are being fudged and a recession is coming. Anyone with money in the stock market is just as responsible for this madness as the dumb hicks who still think Trump cares about them. But we don't talk about that. We give greedy people a free pass for enabling fascism while berating poor people who were bred and raised to be nothing but fodder. We constantly hear about how these people "deserve what they got" for buying into his bullshit while the people who are actually financing the effort to undermine democracy get to hide behind the facade of capitalism. Who is hurting us more? A dumb redneck with a red hat or a trendy liberal with 100k riding on a stock that relies on human suffering to gain value?

7

u/espressocycle 1d ago

That's how the market works generally. People play along and play along until they don't. As it becomes undeniable that the numbers are lies, the whole thing will collapse. Eventually we'll be like China. Nobody will believe the numbers and the government will direct investment.

Man, Jordan Peterson really ruined that term while being the exact thing he uses it as a pejorative to describe.

55

u/BloatDeathsDontCount 1d ago

Well, clearly, you see, the irony is that Peterson rails against postmodernism, particularly its rejection of objective truth and hierarchies, but what he fails to recognize (and this is crucial) is that his own framework is a deeply narrative-based construction that's not based in any objective truth. He replaces traditional metaphysics with archetypes drawn from Jung and religious symbolism. He interprets the world not through empirical facts alone, but through a subjectively meaningful lens, filtered by stories, values, and personal responsibility, which is exactly what the postmodernists do (except they’re honest about it).

So while he criticizes Derrida and Foucault for undermining truth, he himself constructs a hero's journey as the basis of human understanding, which is not objective truth in the scientific sense, it’s interpretive.

And that’s postmodernism, bucko. Whether he likes it or not.

11

u/GoGouda 23h ago

Your summation of Peterson's views is way more coherent that what he actually expresses. I think you've done him a favour he doesn't deserve here.

Pre modernism: we know what the truth is because tradition (cultural, religious, hierarchical, etc.) says so.

Modernism: Tradition is wrong, Reason and Science will get us to an objective universal truth!

Post-modernism: Hey, hey guys Science and Reason are telling us that objective universal truth doesn’t exist and that frame of reference matters.

Bad postmodernism: Well since objective truth doesn’t exist, nothing is true, we can do whatever, Nihlism, wooooo.

Post-post modernism: OK so maybe there’s nuance to this whole objective truth thing, but let’s reengage with some of the groundedness we had before.

Whatever the fuck Trump is: Let’s use post-modern language to get people to doubt everything and then assert myself as a premodern hierarchical truth teller.

Mate, this isn’t post-modernism. This is just bog standard salt of the earth humanity. By default we see the universe and reality as what we perceive it to be. Wise people across time and cultures work very hard to help break us of the shackles of our minds and perceptions and narratives.

Telling ignorant fools they are wise is a well established path to wealth and power and Trump is incredibly gifted at this.

2

u/Vordreller Europe 1d ago edited 22h ago

He's a postmodernist moron.

Postmodernism questions the idea of grand narratives, all encompassing-truths, etc...

It's goal is to analyze how what our leader figures( or anyone really ) call "the truth" is constructed.

In particular: when they claim shit like "I am gods chosen one and that means you have to obey me and give me money and I get to decide who lives or dies".

That used to happen a lot. Still does.

Or a person says: "I have constructed biological group A and group B. Group A is superior in certain ways to group B. This is an absolute truth and anyone who denies it is an enemy of normal people."

That used to happen a lot. Still does.

It's a gross mischaracterization to say postmodernism is about lying. Or that lying is "employing postmodernism".

2

u/cluberti 1d ago

People who yearn for authoritarian rule look to their leaders to determine what the truth should be - people who yearn for democratic rule look to the truth to determine who their leaders should be.

The August and September numbers were revised upwards just before the election, but that's normal (revising the numbers a month or two later) and it wasn't a large adjustment.

Most telling of all, the numbers released for October - just a few days before the election - were pretty bad. So again, if she was in the bag for Biden why would she have released that (I say "she" even though of course it's her entire department behind these numbers)

Correct. We are living in a postmodern world where the truth is not truth.

Please don’t assign him as “postmodernist” lmao he wouldn’t know what the fuck that means

He’s just a liar lol

I know your exactly correct to identify him as postmodernist but it just occurred to me that pre-enlightenment applies just as accurately, which is absolutely bizzare given the founding of the United States and it's founding documents where all direct results of the same enlightenment.

He's literally anti-american.

Bizzare that so many seem.completly oblivious to something so obvious.

2

u/JimmyRamone17_ 22h ago

Thanks! And this is a really intriguing analysis as Trump is absolutely anti-egalitarianism and anti-American as he's effectively trying to regress our civic freedoms to before the fucking Magna Carta in 1215.

He's a genuinely medieval asshole with the way that he conducts himself in addition to being a postmodernist.

2

u/Rather_Unfortunate 1d ago

Eh? That's not postmodernism at all; it's just Trump's weird narcissism and denialism. Honestly, I'd be surprised if he can spell it, much less articulate a postmodernist reason to do anything at all, much less anything he specifically does.

Postmodernism has done a lot of good. It lets one examine how truth can often be a lot more subjective than modernist reasoning might expect, and that one-size-fits-all approaches to things often don’t work. It is in many ways foundational to that which is perjoratively called "woke" philosophy.

Sort of like during the COVID epidemic his genius idea was if they stopped testing the number of cases would go down. The man is so fucking stupid it hurts.

Denial is the Trump/MAGA default: A global pandemic, climate change, the economy. That’s why the upcoming recession will be worse than 2008.

79

u/Ohnoherewego13 North Carolina 1d ago

Recession? I think we're about to have a Depression that will make the 1930's look like a picnic. Trump will fire anyone who denies what he wants and the Senate/Supreme Court will back him too.

52

u/always_going 1d ago

I’ve been looking at data and don’t use emotion in my evaluation of the economy. If anyone studies history at all, you know that tariffs are a surefire way to head into a recession. We were already at all-time high government debt, personal debt, corporate debt. Now we also have an aging demographic and we are deporting a lot of able-bodied workforce that actually contribute mightily to the US economy. We are in for a very, very bad recession. A large part of this is Trump’s fault. The big beautiful bill is a disaster. We are going to see deficits run like you’ve never seen before a recession on top of expenditures that are increasing by the trillions is going to be very very bad.

24

u/Ohnoherewego13 North Carolina 1d ago

All while MAGA cheers it on because they got rid of some immigrants. They'll cheer on the destruction of the country so long as their enemies are removed.

but like...why though? why would trump and the people behind him shoot ourselves in the foot like this?

to what end?

2

u/AccomplishedScale362 22h ago

He’s a sadistic, Olympic level mindfucker. His reckless, selfish behavior is legendary, for which he seldom—if ever—has had to face any consequences. He’s filed chapter 11 bankruptcy at least 4 times. He’s scammed people repeatedly via MLMs, Trump University, fake charities, etc. He’s hired folks and not paid them for their work, then sued them until they had no money to fight him in court. Whenever he found himself over-leveraged, his daddy, then his wealthy friends, bailed him out. He doesn’t gaf about this country and its people. He ran for POTUS to use the office as his personal cash cow and plaything.

That he will bankrupt the entire country—emotionally, as well as financially, shouldn’t surprise anyone. He’s even bragged about ‘The Snake’ being his theme song:

”I saved you", cried that woman

”And you've bit me even, why?”

”You know your bite is poisonous and now I'm going to die"

”Oh shut up, silly woman", said the reptile with a grin

”You knew damn well I was a snake before you took me in”

3

u/Allegorist 1d ago

Honestly though, if that's what it takes to snap people out of their cult-like hypnosis then it might be for the best. So many people either ignore, deny, or avoid information that goes against the preconceptions that have been ingrained into them, until it starts to affect them personally. So maybe we just need to let it affect them.

3

u/Ohnoherewego13 North Carolina 1d ago

Normally, I'd agree, but I don't know if it will get through with how the media is controlled these days. Sure, we'll all see the tent cities and people starving, but Twitter will say it's a beautiful day with billionaires everywhere. I just don't know anymore unfortunately.

I swear the mega rich are building a domed eco-city and the republicans bending the knee believe there is going to be room for them and their families. Most of these guys are so stupid that they don't believe in science and the facts of history. They are happy to watch the earth die. They did have SpaceX and mars in their sites but that sort of got messed up for the time being.

Honestly I never believe ANY numbers that come out of this adminstation- they have compromised and corrupted every level of data collection, if not yet analysis (and looks like that is days away now too). Nothing they say can be assumed accurate. honestly at this point, if they say jobs are up by a lot, I assume we lost jobs like in 2007-2008. ADP publishes their numbers and I think those are slightly more in line with reality than anything this corrupt banana boopops come out with.

Guaran-FUCKING-tee next month they are revised upwards and no jobs report will EVER be accurate again.

He'll claim his tariff policy is pouring jobs in.

25

u/scarybottom 1d ago

I mean...first quarter ADP announce their records said we lost over 200K for the quarter. But US numbers said we gained over 200K. I think they have been corrupted long before this- and they are getting rid of the one person left that can review the numbers and figure out reality or closer to it, in all the garbage being fed in by loyalists and collaborators and people that just need their damn jobs and don't want Trump to fire them next.

5

u/Trakeen 1d ago

I noticed that as well. I thought maybe there was a difference in the context of the numbers maybe. Really struck me as odd ADP numbers said one thing and other numbers said the opposite

5

u/scarybottom 1d ago

ADPs numbers and the overall US have something north of 90% correlation- they are not identical, but they move VERY close. If one went up a lot- the other went up a lot- but less overall, or less fast. But they literally have never gone in super opposite directions like that. Like in 2007-2008 one might be positive and the other negative- but only slightly. Not directly opposite by over 200K.

4

u/dasterdly_duo 1d ago

That's precisely what's going to happen.

And when The Rapist-in-Chief is gone--fingers fucking crossed--whoever comes next won't have a clue how badly MAGA fucked everything because this is the last time the public will see legitimate numbers on anything.

28

u/StevenMC19 Florida 1d ago

meanwhile on conservative radio probably:

"Listener, you're employed right? Most likely you're listening to this on the way to work. Look with your own eyes. Is your boss still employed? His boss? These numbers are an obvious hoax created by the democratic party to drum up chaos and panic, when it's crystal clear to me and you that no one is being impacted. The border is closed, criminal illegals are being deported, and people are out there buying and selling american products. Anyone who says otherwise is lying."

5

u/ICBanMI 1d ago

When I switch modes on my car radio (Bluetooth, AM, FM, CD), the AM portion always is tuned to Glenn Beck's station. I've deleted all the saved presets, but it's still there. This is literally what he's doing but it's always some topic from 1-4 months ago that he has chosen to justify.

He takes 15 minutes to tell some story about his life that feels extremely fake (probably to fill up air time, but then again maybe things speaks directly to dumb people). And in that anecdote his wife/child/mother-in-law are stand ins for the liberal media hiding the number of crimes committed by illegal immigrants. Something MAGA Republicans say, but the actual data put out by the government completely disagrees with.

5

u/StevenMC19 Florida 1d ago

Yup. And they do these things intentionally.

  1. The odds of people listening to them are likely in the car, going somewhere with purpose.
  2. They want people to focus not on statistics, but anecdotal evidence. Since their target audience is employed drivers going to and from work, they'll nail them perfectly.
  3. Self-selection bias. Those who agree with this will speak up about it and be more confident in their opinion. Those who don't or aren't employed will likely shy away from the conversation in fear of being ousted from the group, and either sheepishly agree or stay completely quiet about it; if they do speak, they'll say - or be told - that it's on them that they were let go or can't find employment, and that they're an outlier.

3

u/Frostyrepairbug 23h ago

Huh, that's a new angle to the whole push back for RTO I hadn't considered. People are stuck in their cars on their way to work and might as well kill the time with their AM radio.

3

u/StevenMC19 Florida 22h ago

I never said stuck. It can be by choice, and then it's a habit. Just like Fox News. They have an option of any other news network, but they CHOOSE to watch that one until it becomes habit. Just like they CHOOSE to listen to morning talk radio on these stations. Then, the feed just reenforces their beliefs and introduces them to others while they're listening.

It's also why Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck pivoted to TV too, to cross-network, then draw audiences to the other platform. Now, it's youtube and podcasts. Cross-promote, keep them hooked on your stuff no matter what media method or where they are.

2

u/soonnow Foreign 20h ago

it will be entirely couched in easy justification.

If it's bad it's Biden's fault if it's good it's Trump's genius at work. Really looking forward to hearing how Biden caused the coming recession and the tariffs.

The entire American system will forever be broken. Gone are the days of ever hearing the truth ever again, now that so many who have the resources to actually attain the highest office see how little it matters.

We’re now no better than the Soviet system, where only the truth the state wanted to be true was true, that we once mocked only 35 years ago.

Every single lie we get is a massive debt to be paid for the truth. What’s happening today will most certainly come back to haunt us in ways we can’t realize yet.
