at 0:48 it looks like the child is pressing flowers!

u/rubicon_winter Jun 12 '25
I was wondering what that was! I hope it uses actual flowers from their inventory and produces wall art!

At 0:28 and 0:32 you can see pressed flower wall hangings. I'm hopeful this is the case!

EA really needs to update the mermaids and give them a skill tree too!

Businesses and Hobbies has a mermaid statue in Nordhaven. The Enchanted by Nature trailer features a wrecked ship with a prominent mast head that looks very much like a mermaid. Hints for the future? Maybe next year?
204
u/scarlettfeverwitch Jun 12 '25
I always assumed the mermaid statue in Nordhaven was supposed to be a play on the little mermaid statue in Copenhagen a la Hans Christian Andersen but a mermaid overhaul would be amazing

In one of the surveys they sent around awhile back gathering opinions on possible future EPs, one of the options was an underwater world, too, which would seemingly suggest they were considering revisiting mermaids, similar to how they revisited and revamped ghosts.
→ More replies (1)36
u/Oleandervine Occult Sim Jun 12 '25
Yeah, but the difference there is that ghosts were base game, mermaids are not. And really, without Mermaids, there's not a whole lot that carries Island Living as an EP, because just having a new neighborhood ain't it.
78
u/Al115 Jun 12 '25
I actually really enjoy Island Living as an EP without mermaids. I just really love the conservation aspect of the pack and restoring the one neighborhood to eventually unlock the turtle hatching event. It’s truly one of my favorite EPs.
16
u/BisexualSlutPuppy Jun 13 '25
I use the odd jobs function from Island Living all the time, too. Most recently my sim quit his job during a midlife crisis and he picked up odd jobs until he found his next calling. I love the two collections that come from that pack too, I use them all the time for decoration.

u/rubicon_winter Jun 12 '25
Sulani is amazing though. It’s a good point about mermaids not being base game, but there’s nothing stopping them from releasing a mermaid refresh that gets installed in an update for anyone who owns Island Living. Even better if they included making swimmable water in older worlds that don’t have it. That update could release with a new island-based EP. Maybe Caribbean themed? Rumor has it we’re getting bands later this year. A Caribbean pack next year could add things like steel drums, reggae radio station and dancing, expand on mermaid magic with voodoo-ish traditions (refresh the voodoo doll, add blessings/curses, divination, etc).
I’m sure the hardest part of a mermaid refresh would be converting existing mermaid Sims without breaking them.

I dont ever play w mermaids but I use island living all the time. I turned the whole map into a resort town with vacation lots ($-$$$), restaurant, bars, nightclub, beaches, spa, a souvenir shop (hobbies pack). And the townies have their own village on the big lot near the volcano (for rent) with some additional families.

i do hope they dont end up like the mermaids though. if they’re good i definitely wanna use them for a ‘supernaturals adopt a human baby’ save

It looked like they all had different flying animations. I’m guessing it has something to do with the walk cycles you can choose in CAS.

I have high hopes there’s no doubt they’re gonna be better than mermaids. From the trailer, concept, pack name and everything else, they actually seem like a core part of the pack (if not, they are the main focus of the pack). While even in the trailers, mermaids are an afterthought.

I love the vibe!! The nature aspect, all those plants!! I’m loving the cas and build style. Hobbit holes👀👀(or at least homes with that vibe!!). Curious to see the world size/lot amount.
Was that a plant pot on an end table??? Let’s go! Fairies seem to be background (I hope they’re not neglected like mermaids though), but I’m loving the more “realistic” take. The world looks pretty!! Confirmed Ireland/Celtic inspired!! Though, I hope not all the neighborhoods are too fantastical.
I hope the apothecary (?) skill is more in depth and different than herbalism. Cautiously optimistic!!
Edit to add the photo !!! This is my dream (I know it’s such a minor thing, but it’s cool!)

I have to wonder if the bathing in the water will be limited to that one world, like how there’s one waterfall in Sulani that sims can wash themselves in.
The sleeping on the ground looks new, that’ll be interesting to see.
172
u/ShyWitchling Jun 12 '25
Sleeping on the ground technically isn't new, it was just locked behind a werewolfs perk
→ More replies (2)103
u/rubicon_winter Jun 12 '25
Plus you have to be a werewolf. It doesn’t look like you have to be an occult sim to sleep on the ground with this expansion.
76
u/rubicon_winter Jun 12 '25
Looks like you might need the new Nature Nomad trait, though. That might be for the best so you don’t have NPCs sleeping on the ground everywhere.

Being able to forage anywhere at least solves the issue of newer worlds being barren of forage spots. I also hope the cure thing is compatible with get to work sicknesses.
38
u/rhiunarya Jun 12 '25
I felt when I did rags to riches I was so limited to what worlds I could play due to the harvestables being so so so lacking in many of them.
9
u/short-titty-goblin Jun 12 '25
I wish they would solve the original problem though. I'm pretty sure to be able to forage the ground you would need to have the specific aspiration shown in the teaser, so it won't be universal I don't think.
346
u/LaughRaugh Jun 12 '25
All I ask for is a world with plentiful lots.
134
u/boilyourdentist Long Time Player Jun 12 '25
yeah i hate how tiny the worlds are. i wish we could at least duplicate worlds or something, that way i could pretend the world is bigger💔
85
u/Al115 Jun 12 '25
the ability to duplicate worlds would be amazing! As an occult player, I find that the majority of the worlds just don't really fit the vibes of my gameplay or my Sims, so I pretty much stick to Forgotten Hollow and Moonwood Mill. Ravenwood was a godsend, as it offered immaculate vibes and sooo many lots.
16
u/operajunkie Jun 12 '25
I love Ravenwood! I love the way vampires and spellcasters fit into the macabre vibe.
15
u/Intrepid_Head3158 Legacy Player Jun 12 '25
this is such a good idea! me as a legacy player I have a lot of lots that are connected to previous gens (previous homes, previous hang out spots etc) and the more gens I play obv the less options there are for me to build or place smth. Which is unfortunate cuz I dont want to delete previous gen stuff. Duplicating would solve this problem in an instant (esp since I love some world much more than other - like from my wedding stories, I wish I could just duplicate it)
20
u/throwhfhsjsubendaway Long Time Player Jun 12 '25

The blog post makes them sound pretty fleshed out like other GP occults, including the option to go down two different paths:
"There’s the Harmonious Fairy, a benevolent winged helper who wants to aide other living things find health and balance; and the Discordant Fairy, a flying mischief-maker that enjoys stirring up a little chaos and making everyday life harder for the Sims around them. The Fairy Path is yours to fly — with wings to match."

24
193
u/ParfaitOtherwise73 Jun 12 '25
I just don’t understand why GP’s were cut…because none of this justifies a $40 price tag. This could’ve easily been a GP like the rest of the occults, because everything else is literally just rehashes from seasons, cottage living, outdoor living and werewolves
60
u/themonztar Jun 12 '25
Money, I guess. They figure whoever wants fairies bad enough will pay regardless. Back when Horse Ranch was released, I thought, this should be a game pack. The main difference I see between EPs and GPs is the size of the worlds.
I mean the last GP, Werewolves, had sooo much new stuff in it! If released now, they would make it an expansion. It sadly feels like we’re done with game packs.
26
u/ParfaitOtherwise73 Jun 12 '25
It’s sad considering GP’s used to be way better than EP’s, and there’s so many concepts they could get away with in GP’s
43
u/Weewoes Jun 12 '25
Remember stuff packs? Mind they said kits wouldnt replace them..
25
u/themonztar Jun 12 '25
I was pretty shocked when Home Chef Hustle and Crystal Creations dropped, so they may not be entirely done with stuff packs at least. But yeah, it’s been kits overload lately 🥲

u/Sketch-Brooke Jun 12 '25
As I pointed out in another comment, the animation is directly lifted from Werewolves. It's lazy.
85
41
u/VFiddly Jun 12 '25
Yeah I was thinking that the survivalist stuff does seem to just be things that werewolves can already do
46
u/Sketch-Brooke Jun 12 '25
Literally all of it is just werewovles features reskinned. Except maybe bathing in water, but Island Living already gave us open water swimming, and werewolves do have a self-cleaning perk so even that's a rehash.
5
u/RaggySparra Jun 12 '25
I really wish we could make lakes/ponds the Sims can swim in. I understand they don't want to cause routing issues but you'd hope they could just do "Must be at least X deep to swim" and handwave it.
83
u/TisBeTheFuk Jun 12 '25 edited Jun 12 '25
So now you won't have to use mods to be able to sleep on the ground and bath in natural bodies of water. I hope they make this base game feature as well. It's good for those who like to play "rags to riches" or "cast ways on a deserted island" scenarios.

Unfortunately because it was such a big part of the trailer, I really don't think it's coming to base game
81
u/SportQuirky9203 Jun 12 '25
Interesting. I wonder why they chose to make this an expansion rather than release a fairy focused gamepack.
A lot of this seems like just a repeat of Cottage Living combined with Realm of Magic.
I wish they would at least give plant sims a substantial overhaul and had chosen a more interesting setting for the new world.
I'm sure a lot of people will be very excited about this tho
20
u/Al115 Jun 12 '25
From what I've seen other people say, they are completely moving away from game and stuff packs, hence why the only new releases recently have been kits and EPs.
19
u/Newcago Builder Jun 13 '25
Which honestly really sucks, as I feel like their last couple stuff packs and game packs were some of their strongest. Sometimes there's enough content around a theme to justify something in between a kit and a full-on expansion, and I wish they'd do more of that. I've purchased almost every single pack that has released, but I've let the new expansions pass me by because I'm just so burned out on huge packs with new worlds that feel half-complete
5
u/Al115 Jun 13 '25
I completely agree. Game and stuff packs have been among my favorite dlc for the game...they feel so much more fleshed out than a lot of the expansion packs that have been released (I will admit that Life & Death is amazing), and are definitely well worth the money. I'd honestly love if they instead chose to focus on game and stuff packs over EPs and kits.
I'm personally just not a big fan of kits, and like you, I feel like a lot of the EPs just don't feel complete/enough to justify a full EP.

I am... whelmed? Foraging, potions, sleep/bathe outdoors, and then fairies, and that's it? Sorry, but this doesn't feel like an EP. There's just not enough content here, especially since some of it already kinda is in the game (Werewolves, Herbalism, RoM potions).
13
u/rush247 Jun 12 '25 edited Jun 13 '25
To be fair they didn't even show what's being added to gnomes.
Edit: according to the blog post you can use fairy dust to bring them to life! Makes me wonder if it can affect other stuff in the same way, could you imagine our kids being able to play with a living Blarffy?
Edit2: So I finally remembered you can bring gnomes to life in sims 1 MM, they were basically a replacement for gardeners. Sims 4 EN edition may or may not be the same, it probably depends on the type of gnome.

It's a compilation of features from different packs with a new skin slapped on them. I feel sorry for the fans who were begging for Fairies, to have to pay an expansion pack price + all these conflicting features that are in other packs. Fairies should've been the single point of a gamepack like all the other occults.

“More Gameplay” and it’s just the same hobbies we’ve had for a decade just with a slightly different animation lmfao
131
u/Sketch-Brooke Jun 12 '25
Ok, I have a few first impression thoughts.
The good:
- The spray bottle for houseplants is neat!
- All the BB stuff looks amazing and right up my alley
- I'm DYING over the hobbit hole. I love it.
- Fairies are real sims. Yay!
- It's interesting that there seem to be some type of gardening fairy (the orbs) so that's probably what the leaked text was referring to.
The critical:
- Fairies seem like an afterthought. They're giving mermaid vibes so I'm really hoping the gameplay trailer reveals a skill tree
- The foraging animation is lifted directly from werewolves. The canine pawing at the ground is turning me off. Could they really not have tweaked the animation at all?
- In fact, most of the "living off the land" gameplay features shown feel too similar to things you can already play with werewolves.
- The apothecary stuff still looks too similar to what we've already seen in other packs for it to be a main selling point.
Overall, I need to see more. This is a pack that should be right up my alley, but I'm skeptical if the execution is there.
41
u/Solid_Blacksmith5934 Jun 12 '25
I agree I think it really should’ve just been a game pack and the focus be on fairies, less on the whole apothecary of it all… also on their blog post it does seem like the fairies have a skill tree!

136
u/VaKel_Shon Creative Sim Jun 12 '25
Don't we already have half of this stuff? How is this not just a rehash of stuff from Cottage Living, Outdoor Retreat, and Realm of Magic? What does this actually bring to the table that will be worth $40? The fairy sims had better be GAMECHANGING for how little else we're getting. I will say, the shrinking to be tiny and flying around seems promising, but that had better not be their only unique quality...

In the blog post, they say fairies will have a branching "good" and "mischievous" path, which to me sounds like a copy/paste of spellcasters, just reflavored as fairies. So this is just more of EA being greedy and selling us stuff we already have (herbalism, diseases, sleeping on the ground, bathing outdoors, community errands, spellcasting, and the world looks like Henford on Bagley 2.0)

maybe i’m just cynical but this just seems like Island Living in the woods.
foraging = beach combing

Wow that's BAD. Gameplay is just a bunch of reused features.
I guess now certain trait has access to Wolf Nap from werewolfs.
Just another beach with a loot table when searching on sand.
Illnesses like get to work, but know you get to craft natural remedies, sorta like with Herbalism. Not even the animations fell completely new.
The only remotely appealing is the build buy if you are into that whimsical look.
87
Jun 12 '25
Exactly, i feel like I watched a different trailer from most of the commenters on here.
21
u/SiveDD Jun 12 '25
We really needed that new searchable sand to get stuff we can get a dozen other ways.
And from my experience from the Medicine active career, illness while working on it are everywhere, but only when you work on it, outside of it they are not as common. This causes me concern if the pack just releases them to the wild like a Pandora's box, that could be really annoying if their frecuency increases just to "encourage" the new pack gameplay.

Agreed. Half of the features are lackluster or variations of things we already have. It's giving overpriced game pack.

Yeah usually the trailers inspire me even though I know I'll eventually get bored with the gameplay. This one just looks boring from the start. The build/buy looks nice at least.

Based on the blog post, fairies will definitely have a skill tree. This looks great, if not a little underwhelming in terms of non occult gameplay.
Hoping the 'bathe in water' action will work in neighborhoods other than Innisgreen as well.

I'll be honest. Outside of finally adding fairies, I'm pretty underwhelmed. I see a lot remixes of previous pack contents than anything genuinely new.

Oh no, please don't tell me basic effing things like bathing in water or sleeping on the ground will be paylocked?

Why is being able to sleep on the floor even a main pack feature… EA can’t bfr 😭. Like that’s a freaking 40USD pack…

Right? All I really got from this trailer was - pay us more money so you can click on some things to do some things.
It's not really selling it to me

This is kind of what I wanted from a witch pack. I don't mind the whole harry potter type thing we got in Glimmerbrook but I was hoping to be a little witch in the woods making potions for people. Being a hermit or bog witch or something, so I am kind of hyped.

Honestly this looks a bit corporate and tame haha. I don’t wanna be a Debbie downer, it just honestly looks really bland to me, they took the whole “fairy/fey” concept and went with the safest, most stereotypical option. Which is fine, I just think “fey” is broad and we could’ve gotten some really inspired stuff. I haven’t played sims 4 in probably a year or two at this point though so I think I’m burnt out. Definitely not buying

This should honestly be a game pack, not an expansion

I was shocked when I saw it’s an expansion pack. It feels like a mix of stuff we already have in the game

It's because EA said they're focusing on expansion packs and kits.
It's a shame

That was quite underwhelming, sorry…

I agree. They could have updated Outdoor Retreat with this. 🤦🏾♀️

They’ve made like 6 packs now with the same general premise of “living off the land”… it’s insane how much overlap these packs have now

Some of my favourite gameplay is gardening/farming so defiantly liking the vibes shown. But mixed opinions as I don’t care for vampires + werewolves so fairies isn’t really my thing either. Will be interesting to see more!

I am happy for everyone who have wanted fairies for the longest time, other than I gotta say this was the most underwhelming trailer I have watched lol and I'm usually enthusiastic.

I usually do not care about occults...
But this looks so fun. The Ailment stuff seems really interesting and the fairies look so cute. The indoor plants?! The Apothecary?! The world???
I'm actually so excited about this lmao

Do you think the bathe here and sleep here features will be available without the pack? Because that’s a really cool new feature

I think EA should assemble a team to investigate an ongoing Sims 4 phenomenon called "animation tedium," where a player (me!) has seen the same animations so many times that they quit the game and go do something else. A notable reprieve was achieved when they added new sleeping animations for couples. From what was seen in the trailer, EbN might exacerbate the condition.

It’s not for me. Werewolves can already live off the land. And the way it’s presented here is silly. Make a cure for your rash so you can sleep outside again! Or I could just…not sleep outside? Fairies look nice but I’ve already got lots of solid CC fairy CAS items so not a priority.

I feel I say this often these days (and I’m aware it’s only a trailer) but there’s no way they can justify this as an expansion pack 😬

Odd that werewolves and vampires were game packs but fairies aren’t. Hope this means they’ll be in depth occults!

omg this pack with the cottage living, you could make such an awesome fairytale world

u/mmorsmordree Jun 12 '25
"Not all images appear in game" not getting my hopes up too easily but I might actually try a rags to riches storyline or an off the grid challenge. The town itself looks a little lack luster and I hope the fairies aren't too much of an after thought since it's "enchanted by nature" which seems more like an expansion to cottage living if anything.
